Task #1
The goalie matchup from the S37 playoffs I've decided to talk about is the one seen in the cup finals, between Beaujeaux Biscuit of the Montreal Militia and Evgeuni Marmeladov of the Detroit Falcons. Both goalies are experienced and were capable of winning the series but it is hard to argue that before the playoffs Biscuit had been the better of the two. He had a save percentage of 0.891, a goals against average of 2.69 and 3 shutouts this season. Marmeladov had played on a good Falcons team but he personally hadn't been the most reliable man in net, having a save percentage of 0.885, a goals against average of 2.79 and only 2 shutouts, showing up worse than Biscuit in all of these statistics. One category Marmeladov did get the better of Biscuit in was the number of wins, with 25 wins for the Falcons goalie while Biscuit managed only 23. The stats here suggest that before the series it would have been more likely that Biscuit would be able to sneak the better series out of the two goalies and lead his team to the Four Star Cup, however Marmeladov managed to go against type and show up big for their playoff run, possibly catching the Militia by surprise. Code: Total word count, 212 words Task #2 If I had to choose a playoff MVP for this season I would maybe go a little against how most people choose and select Inari Twain of the Montreal Militia. Twain might not have been on the team that won the cup but the performance he gave was incredible, being the best player on the Militia by a big distance as he tore his way through the opposition. In the 17 playoff games he appeared in Twain scored a league best 22 points, including an impressive goal count of 11, both of which were streets ahead of anyone else in Montreal. Twain also made a physical impact, giving out 24 hits, good enough for top 5 in the playoffs. Although Twain's powerful performance wasn't enough to carry the Militia past the Detroit Falcons in the finals, he certainly had a huge impact on his team's fortunes in the post season, and perhaps was the most valuable contributor in the entire league. Code: Total word count, 161 words Task #3 "Welcome back folks to Game 7 of the Four Star Cup semi final series between the Detroit Falcons and the St. Louis Scarecrows. The Falcons have a slight lead here and the score is 2-1 thanks to goals from Maurizio Arrivabene, Thé Dude and Ryan Richter, but the game has been incredibly close and the Scarecrows could pull things back at any minute. The officials have made a big call here and sent Svatoslav Bodnar off the ice for a game misconduct after a dangerous hit into the boards and the Falcons are about to get a long powerplay opportunity here. A bad decision by Bodnar to make a play like that at this time of the game, the teams are lining up on the ice and the game is about to get back underway. Kevin Marks wins the faceoff, and he passes it to Matthias Victorsson, Victorsson makes the pass back to Marks and then Marks passes it to Shaun Stephens on the point, Stephens fires it hard and scores! It's straight into the net, Yuma didn't have a chance to stop that! The Detroit Falcons take a two goal lead here and that surely does it for this game, and could well send them off to the Four Star Cup finals. Clutch goal by Shaun Stephens!" Connor Tanner ![]() Another Militia defenseman who was given a lot of responsiblity and didn't quite deliver, last year's first overall Connor Tanner was very ordinary in his 17 playoff games, scoring 11 points and obtaining a +/- that was less than zero. Not awful, but not what his team needed. Logan Jensen ![]() Scarecrows forward Logan Jensen didn't quite bring his A game to the Scarecrows S37 cup run, where he scored 7 points in 13 games playing top forward minutes. Jensen is a good player so his poor results in the playoffs came as a surprise, and he will certainly be disappointed with how things went. Barbie Tanner ![]() The second Tanner of Montreal on this list, Barbie Tanner was given big responsibility as a top forward on the Militia, and really fell short of the mark scoring only 6 points in 17 games. A deeply disappointing playoffs from Tanner who would hope to have made more of a contribution. Artemi Berezin ![]() Berezin is one of the hottest prospects in the S38 SHL draft but he didn't quite bring the performances he is known for to the playoffs this year. 8 points in 17 games was somewhat short of his own high standards. ![]() KEEGAN ANGELLO - CENTER - #91 ![]() ![]() ![]() Commissioner The People's Champion
Task #1 -Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season. Graphic must include both goalie renders and both team logos. Task #2 - Make a case for who you think deserves to win Playoff MVP. Requirements: At least 150 words and a minimum of 2 stats. My choice for playoff MVP is Maurizio Arrivabene. While a player like Inari Twain would be a fine choice, Arrivabene's team won the Championship because of his efforts. Arrivabene played in all situations and was a monster at even strength. In 11 games, Maurizio tallied 7 even strength goals and 4 even strength assists, putting him at a point per game pace without even factoring in his powerplay production. Arrivabene led the Falcons in shots on goal and he was rewarded with an astounding shooting percentage of 23.53%. Arrivabene also lead the Falcons in Points per 20 minutes, with a mark of 1.37. Only one other Falcon managed to score above a 1.0, and that was Vijay Singh who had a 1.23. Arrivabene is also the ONLY player this postseason to notch a hat trick. While none of his goals were game winners, his performance in Game 1 against St. Louis set the tone early for the Falcons and proved decisive in the 7 game series. Task #3 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game, or make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game. Requirements: At least 200 words for written / at least 4 stats featured in at least 2 different ways for graphics (bar graphs, pie graphs, list of names, etc) Task #4 - Come up with a playoff slogan for your team and a hashtag for three players on the team. Soaring to New Heights #Tatu'dToTheBoards #BarlowBlitz #MarmeLADov Task #5 - Make a top 5 list for the finals. Top 5 goals, top 5 players, top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games, whatever you want. No word count, but if you just list 5 names, you won't get the full 2 tpe. Be a little creative. Top 5 Noteworthy SHL Players in Attendance (no order) 1. Bojo Biscuit - An alum of the Montreal Impact, Mr. Biscuit was on hand to watch his former juniors team and son, Beaujeaux Biscuit. 2. Kaapo Kekkonen - Former player and general manager of the Falcons who won two previous Cups in S23 (player) and S34 (GM). He was there to watch the players that he drafted and his relative, Tatu Mäkelä. 3. Chris Crutchfield - Chris has no ties to either Detroit or Montreal, but he's a fan of the Falcons' young gun Connor Blackwell. 4. Ray Pejonis - A member of the S23 Championship team, Pejonis was in the stands cheering on his favorite junior team. 5. Roman Morenov - Morenov was hired by Montreal to work in the front office. He's taken a liking to prospect Artemi Berezin. ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered vry gud plyr

There’s only one player that truly deserved to be declared the Most Valuable Player of the playoffs, and that is Inari Twain of the Montreal Militia. He made the title of MVP his very own with 11 goals and 11 assists, leading the league in both throughout the playoffs. There is no doubt the Militia played well as a team to reach the finals – it’s never all about one player to do so well – but across 17 games Twain carried more than his weight to guide his team to the final series. Ultimately, however, his incredible efforts were for nothing as even he was powerless to stop the Detroit Falcons’ sweep of the Militia, but to even score 22 points in the postseason is an almost superhuman feat that deserves to be recognised across the league. If this was Twain’s last season in the SMJHL, he can hold his head high after his incredible effort that should earn him the title of Playoff MVP. He hoovers up the opposition threat and turns it into something beautiful. #4 Dude Love Dude, do you even show a little Love? Because it’s clear from the lack of talent in these finals that you don’t. Dude Love needs to be seen everywhere and, if you have a problem with that, we have two words for you: fuck you. Dude Love is beautiful. #3 Gabriel Wong You have it all Wong if you think the Four Star Cup can take place without this man. He’s literally the best man with the last name Wong to not take part in this event. #2 Dick Skillstedt How can the Four Star Cup finals not star a little Dick? It’s a travesty that the event even took place without a display of Skillstedt. I doubt the event was even worth showing, frankly. #1 Howie Dewitt This ain’t Howie Dewitt. Not without the finest young prospect to come out of... wait a minute... Castlebar, Ireland. He’s literally the best to ever come from that place and has an amazing name. How can you even hold an event like this without him? It’s a fucking joke. ![]() Registered Probably fixing planes

I think that it is pretty easy to tell who the playoff MVP is. That person is clearly Maurizio Arrivabene of the Detroit Falcons. With 11 games played by Detroit in these playoffs, Arrivabene scored a whopping 16 points (8 goals, 8 assists). Sure Maurizio Arrivabene wasnt the leading points scorer these playoffs like Inari Twain was, with 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists), but Twain did it in 17 games. 1.37 points per game pace is ridiculous in any case and this player went off during this playoff run. The next highest PPG contender was by Joseph Lombardi who was at 1.25 ppg in 13 games played. One could make the arguement that Twain was the playoff MVP by playing lights out as a Dman, but awards dont go to the losers. They go to the winners, so that is why Maurizio Arrivabene is this seasons SMJHL Playoff MVP. Task #1 -Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season. Today we are going to be looking at the massive goalie matchup with this upcoming SJHL final! Detroit has top stopper Evgueni Marmeladov manning the pipes! He has had a great year helping lead the team to a 2nd overall finish and a trip to this final two. He currently sits 1st in save percentage in the post-season and 4th overall in goals against average. He has steadily lead his team to the finals with only 3 losses in 11 games. Marmeladov has been solid and will be a challenge for Montreal to beat. Across the ice Montreal has their own top netminder that will try to be a thorn in Detroit’s side throughout the series. Beaujeaux Biscuit currently sits 5th in both save percentage and goals against average in the post season. Montreal came into the playoffs in the final playoff spot. The way they have played this playoff you couldn’t even tell, they have played as a team and marched their way to the finals. Biscuit’s strong play has lead the Militia to the finals hopefully he can keep up that strong play to trey to overcome the mountain in front of them that is the Detroit Falcons. Task #2 - Make a case for who you think deserves to win Playoff MVP. Requirements: At least 150 words and a minimum of 2 stats. Vijanupatan Singh is my case for playoff MVP. They man has been on a tear for Detroit this post season. He currently leads the team in points, is 2nd in goals, 1st in assists, and 1st in plus/minus. His steady play has led Detroit to a finals appearance after having the 1st and 2nd overall pick last draft. On top of that he also is shooting at an outrageous 14% clip right now and has shown the great offensive and defensive play that got him drafted to Winnipeg at #41 a couple seasons ago in the SHL. The future is bright for Singh and after adding a four star cup to his ever expanding resume, I’m sure he’s looking to add a playoff MVP and make his way to the SHL and prove himself some more. This guys is going to be a star in the league for years to come. Task #3 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game, or make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game. It has been an even scoring game here tonight between Detroit and Montreal. Detroit is currently leading the finals series 3-0 and we are currently sitting in overtime here in game 4, score is 5-5 and we eagerly await to see if the Militia will send this game to 5 or if Detroit will seal the deal here tonight. Faceoff in the Montreal zone. Won by Singh back to Timmy Barlow, passes to his brother Tommy along the half boards. They try to get the cycle rolling but Tommy loses the puck. The loose puck is picked up at the point by Quick Mafs. He throws it across to Singh, oh man the cycle is in full effect here for Detroit! Singh passes the puck down the boards to Hermanis Villy. Villy gets help up along the boards but manages to kick it out to Tommy Balrlow. Tommy see his brother Timmy making Montreal goalie Beaujeaux Biscuit’s ability to see the puck nonexistent. With the battle in front of the net Barlow passes across the Singh who lets a quick shot go…GOAL! THE PUCK DEFLECT OFF THE SCREENING TIMMY BARLOW AND THE FALCONS ARE THIS YEARS FOUR STAR CUP CHAMPIONS! Task #4 - Come up with a playoff slogan for your team and a hashtag for three players on the team. Kelowna Knights - #GOGREEN #NEXTYEAR #YOUNGANDHUNGRY Samee - #FIREME NOUR - #NOURSOMESURGARONME CLINT - #FEELINGLUCKYPUCK? Task #5 - Make a top 5 list for the finals. Top 5 goals, top 5 players, top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games, whatever you want. No word count, but if you just list 5 names, you won't get the full 2 tpe. Be a little creative. Top 5 Rookie Scorers: 1. Tatu Mäkelä – Point per game pace for the cup winning Falcons. Will take a huge step next season. 2. The Dude – with 10 points in 13 games Dude is showing he is part of the bright future in St Louis. 3. DeLon Ishii – 4-4-8 in 17 games. Showing strong offensive and defensive skills. 4. Artemi Brezin – 8 points in 17 games Is a solid outing for a player in his first post season. Add to that a trip to the finals and he will be ready for more next season. 5. Erick Tanner – Adding to the long list of Tanners in the league. 6 points in 17 games shows he will be ready to keep improving next season. |
