Ron Mexico: Chris York destroyed everyone with a 12 point lead in points, and still had an almost 13 point lead in my adjusted points as well, all while playing on an offense that doesn't give a lot of scoring opportunities.

Scott Stevens Award: Alonzo Garbano was first in points, yet still covered the ice fast enough to be 5th in blocked shots, which is amazing.

Why don’t we have a version of the Lady Byng for most sportsmanlike? It’s about the only thing my player does.

I mean, I'm clearly biased this season, but I've never been a fan of the sim thing (exploit?) where the best player on a bad team loads up on points. The sim has to give points to someone on the team, and good players on meh teams always benefit. It's so much harder for players on good teams to produce since the scoring is spread around more.

For the most part, that line above was straight from Esa's mouth when I was flipping out about only getting 45ish points and feeling sad for myself lol. But it does kind of hold true. It's more impressive to have a 65+ point season on a good team like Cal/Wpg than a 70+ season on a bad one where Theres only one or two real options to get points.

Looking at the Top 5 in scoring this season, it's 4 guys who didn't make the playoffs and me. Idk. It honestly just reminds me of Connor McDavid this year. Yeah he's talented, and yeah he lead the league in points by 18 this season. But Edmonton didn't sniff the playoffs and as a result McDavid isn't an MVP candidate this season.

I'm not good at explaining it, but I read a recent article talking about Hart candidates and it said this about McDavid:

"8. Connor McDavid, Oilers

McDavid has become the latest poster child for our age-old "most valuable" vs. "most outstanding" debate a year after ending Edmonton's nagging postseason drought. The Oilers underachieved all season and are back in the lottery — by no fault of their captain, who is chasing another scoring title after cleaning up in the 2016-17 awards races. Doubtless: he's the world's best player, but his MVP candidacy hinges on the belief a player's value only goes so far if his team finishes a country mile out of playoff contention. What's the difference between missing by 15 points with McDavid or 25 without? Is that worthy of MVP consideration? Not this year."

That's kind of how I feel about York (and did last year when the other contender wasn't me). He's an outstanding player, but with how poorly Toronto did that's not an MVP worthy scenario.

That doesn't really ring true though. Calgarys second line scored 40/36/28 points, Toronto's scored 37/34/27 points. 3rd lines were 26/24/7 and 22/8/2. I didn't score 12 more points than you because one player on the 3rd line couldn't score. Torontos entire top line was great. Our 2nd line scored just as much as yours, and Toronto as a whole scored a 16 less goals than Calgary, but 8/9 forwards scored as much or more for us.

I still think you're the MVP, you were much better than your teammates, and you led your team to the playoffs, but my season wasn't good because I scored all my teams goals. I have great chemistry on my top line, and good strats that work well for producing offence. It's been that way for 3 seasons, since I put York at C with Eriksson. Even before that with York on the wing Eriksson scored 55 points with a barely 1000 TPE York.

Throwing out the homer ones, ya know.

If you take out the first game of the season, which seems to be when Minnesota does inexplicably well considering last season and this one and where I allowed 10 goals, I had a .924 sv% and 2.41 GAA, 1st and 2nd in the league respectively with an equal number of games played to Rudnikova. Rudnikova did win more, so I know that'll play a factor. You never want to reward a goalie for having a great season if they had an average at best team around them, it obviously means they weren't a great goalie. Nonetheless, Rudi didn't have a lot to work with either and faced more shots and did fantastic. I fully expect her to win, I just wanted to put my name in the hat for the discussion/nomination part.

Another place I'd throw my hat in the ring, coaching. Worst team in the East last season, even sold at the deadline both last season and this season and yet managed to come very close to the playoffs, came down to the next to last game/day. Again, I wouldn't expect to win it, but might as well bring up for discussion.

I think Luke Atmey could use a look for MVP. Another one I don't think would win, but obviously someone who took on a huge load for Manhattan and showed a ton of value to the team. Didn't make the playoffs, I know that's a dealbreaker and especially without leading the league in points. Just someone to look at considering top-3 in points and the only other players on the team near him were defensemen by the end of the season.

Speaking of that defenseman, Shoyu Kikkoman managed to be top-3 in defensemen scoring and a respectable hit and shot block total. I'd argue he may be top-5 or so. Not likely to be nominated, but a good showing and I like to highlight it.

If I'm going by legitimate thoughts of who will likely win, of course there's some obvious ones. JP is coach of the year, Rudnikova is McBride winner, Garbanzo wins Stevens. I'm not sure on Mexico winner just yet, and haven't paid attention much to the Jesster race this season. Just nice to throw in some names to be considered for nominations beside them and get that recognition.

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.

I took only one minor penalty this season and I think it was in the last few sims.

Gib Richan

Went from 33 points to 50 points. Played both the first line, 2nd line, PP and PK (2nd on my team for fwd's in PK time). Despite some great linemates on both lines, consistently generated the most shots on a game by game basis, etc.

Improved my +/-, dropped my PIMS, more SB's, generated more PPP (playing Defense at that) etc. Just tossing my name into the ring for consideration.

He did a lot of good things and was good in just about everything, but i think the lack of goals scored really hurts him.

Alonzo Garbanzo Final Tallies (Among Defensemen):
2nd in Goals (208), All-Time Assists Leader (765)*, All-Time Points Leader (973), 3rd in Hits (2587), All-Time Blocked Shots Leader (1882)*
*All-Time Leader Among All Skaters
