Not good enough individual stats over the course of his career. Two cups != instant HoFer.

Gorlab if you have a legit reason why Merica isn't first ballot I'd love to hear it.
Not to defend gorlab, he's being an ass. But I can give a reason, and it's not that Merica isn't great or anything. It's the timing of the retirement. Partlow, FourFour, Keenan, Winter all get on the ballot and played longer or had a bigger impact. There's only so many spots on the ballot, so votes will get split around all over the place. It could make him miss by one point or two on the first ballot. Also arguable are CJ and Yousuf to make it as well. So there's a lot of argument to be had.

If it weren't for the quality of the upcoming ballots and competition, Merica is first ballot. But, the timing of the retirement makes it a bit questionable. We'll see how it turns out. I'd say he's probably first ballot, but I can't guarantee it.

In his defense (ungh) he had a really good S25, with 52 points and a suspension to boot.

That being said, he is a first ballot HOFer. It's just that there's like 5 other first ballot HOFers coming up at the same time, and one or two will lose ground because of that. So it's mostly just a timing issue.
