Definitely had a great offensive season, I was responding to Tez's argument about multiple statistics being taken into consideration, Pettyfer had 17 hits and was a +1. Pettyfer also played in the statistically weaker Eastern Division.
I brought up who they played against. We looked at every angle possible. I messaged a few to get a pulse on things.

I brought up Mericas point totals, I brought up the minute and competition gap between Brovalchuk and CoC, I brought up the defensive abilities of Lance Uppercut. But we can't take one person and say they decide everything for an entire committee. When you have a committee, everyone has to be equal and everyone was. You can have all the issues you want with that approach, but it doesn't reflect well.

I gave everyone all the numbers. I made the committee in a day, not everyone is as "smart" as others. We tried to pull everything together, and we did as best we could. We spoke for over a week, we talked about everything we could. If we can get support on something, a change it made. And there were changes because of those moments, and there will be even more growth for next season as we have a footing now and can improve the process. As for right now, I'd rather we focus on congratulating the people who made it rather than tear them down and the people who chose them over a disagreement.

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.

Obviously, we must be incompetent to not be the almighty Bottas, he who knows everything about everything.

How dare I even consider discussing the choices made for these teams!

You can discuss them all you want. It's not an objective thing. What you shouldn't do is bitch about the decisions by calling it "embarassing" without so much as even first asking how the committee came to their decisions and taking into consideration the stats used.

People spent a week discussing this stuff, which they didn't have to do, but did for the league, for guys like you to come into the thread and within seconds call it "embarassing".

If the committee honestly thought that these selections would go over well, and not get debated...

We expect debate, but we don't expect someone to outright call us an "embarrassment" because they don't know our system and disagree with the choices. If you want to disagree, be an adult and disagree with reason. Name calling is unnecessary.

As I said, I argued for you to be on the team. It turned out to be difficult to convince 6 others to name you to it over those selected. We didn't just make it a one person thing. Its 12 people over a week of discussions. And to be quickly dismissed is infuriating.

It would be like someone seeing all the work you and Nike have put into Manhattan this season and saying "You're going to finish last and should be disbanded for being terrible GMs." They don't know the process and provide no reasoning, they simply attack.

Fair enough, I'm usually the first to congratulate people when they have some kind of achievement here and I'm not trying to take away anything from any of these players personally. It's good to have various' people's opinions taken into consideration in order to form these type of awards teams. I didn't agree with a couple of the choices and wanted to see how other people felt.

Way to make yourself look like an asshole with your other comment towards me though.

I really don't understand this.

And my 33 even strength points came with Flamel and Dar on my line.

Disclaimer: I wasn't on the committee, and I'm not saying you did or did not deserve to be on these teams. But I think it's important to note that, in my opinion, we can understand the decision to leave you off, even though there are also arguments in favour of putting you on. It's all subjective, and depends on what the committee weighs as most important.

Daniel Merica vs. RWs

Even Strength Goals: 5th
Even Strength Assists: 6th
Even Strength Points: 6th
Hits: 15th
Shots Blocked: 19th
Even Strength Shooting %: 10th
Power Play Points: T-1st
Power Play Shooting %: 9th
Times Named a Star: 9th

Also, my problem isn't even with people disagreeing with the committee. That type of discussion is great, debating who should and shouldn't be on the teams. But do it with actual facts and opinions, not with "LOL COMMITTEE IS A JOKE", that's just going to piss them off.

I understand your process, I have the same sheets of stats that you do, with all the even strength points, etc.

There will be no doubt this season about Merica. No more "It was McZ" (even though I havent been on his line for the past two seasons, people still automatically go straight to that one) or "Inflated stats because of PP" (which makes no sense...let's penalize players for capitalizing on the PP, where you still have to put the puck in the net.)

Thanks for arguing for me, however. Cheers

As always, if anyone does have reasoning behind their disagreements, I love hearing them. If you have a way you think the committee could improve our way of naming the team other than just to name someone else to it, I'm happy to hear it because this is a growing process and constructive feedback is welcome. I just won't accept someone immediately dismissing us without information, that's what's called being an asshole, and I will be an asshole back. I have no problem fighting for everything this committee chose, and I have no problem if you just want a pissing contest.

While I don't doubt that tons of discussion and research went towards this and i commend the committee on such work I can't help to not think that friendships/bias went toward some people voting for people over someone else. The fact that Merica didn't get enough "support" from committee members couldn't be because his personality in the league is off putting to some same goes to CJ. This is the last I'll talk about it though, it's over and done with and nothing is gonna change. I understand stats and every were taken into concern but when it comes down to between two players there's always going to be "Well player A is a better personality in the league over player B"

Never once did I insult anyone so I don't get why ppl have to say "obviously were not smarter than so and so" discussion and concerns will always come up.

Well, I never attacked any committee member, for the record.

Also, you forgot to mention how I was Top 10 in points, third in PP/20, third in goals in the entire SHL. Should also consider minutes played and who their linemates were. This seemingly "dismissal" or "devaluing" of power play performance is baffling to me.

It's cool that you want to defend the committee that put together these teams and all but to not expect debate with the outcome of the decisions is simply ridiculous. Some of these choices were questionable and that's all I was trying to express with my comment. Did I attack anyone specifically on the committee? No I did not. I was simply looking to see how other people felt about these selections and expressing my initial thoughts about the list when looking over it briefly. No reason to get butt-hurt and go into instant defense mode.
