Yep lol. It's good to know that we understand the salary cap world. Kessel will want at least 7mil especially since he is probably gonna have another PPG year next year most likely. but I think Phaneuf will take a slight pay cut. He did a interview a month ago saying he is excited being apart of this team for the very long term with all the young talent. Plus he is the captain. Probably would take 5.75mil or something along those terms.

I think Leafs has a chance to sign Derek Roy this offseason

I'm almost certain we can get Phaneuf for under 6M. I'm really worried about Kessel though. Hopefully he wants to stay in Toronto and not explore Free Agency. What I want to happen (I can dream) is we sign Phaneuf for 5.7-6M long term and Kessel for 6-6.5M long term. Getting a PPG player under 7M would be a steal.

Dion, you're not the only person that understands the salary cap world. I understand it well too, and yes Grabovski could be a candidate to be bought out since Carlyle isn't using him to his strengths.

But spending $15 or so million on centres isn't going to sink your team cap-wise, and it's an important position in which to have depth.

Also $1.5 million is a very small portion of the cap, and when talking about buyouts, I'd say Liles is higher on the list of salaries they should be looking to shed.

Yes I was just being sarcastic. But 5.5 for a 3rd/4th line center is insane, better to buy him out and re-sign Bozak to what he wants. Bozak brings more good to the team than Grabovski does.

They're getting 3m off of Komisarek, 1m off of Armstrong, 1m off of Tucker and you're 20m under the cap as is. The cap is dropping a whopping 6m do I don't understand how 1.5m is a huge deal to a team who has almost 1/3 of the cap free.
