S59 mPT #1 Expansion City
#46

:eyes: Pretty happy in San Francisco right now, also considering that it’s the closest team geographically to me, but there are some cool options. Personally would always be happy to go to an expansion team, since that is always something fun. For a location, international would always be cool, but I doubt it will happen because would be weird to have 16 NA teams and 2 Europe/Asia/etc. Realistically, adding another Canadian team wouldn’t hurt, lots of cool places left in there that could work out. Something like Vancouver, Montreal, and some other places without a team.

I'm not sure what the prerequisites are for an SHL expansion team but from the look of it, it would need to be in North America. Meaning there wouldn't be anywhere I would move to.
However, open that up to the rest of the world and there is one city and branding I would drop everything to move to in any league...
The Edinburgh Riders
Logo - Knight in full suit of armour astride a horse mid gallop coming towards you. The Knight holding a sword held high.
Colours - The orange and blue of irn bru with silver flashes.
Ad Placements: Irn Bru, Tennents, Macsweeneys Haggis & Scott's porridge oats.
Goal Song: The View - Superstar Tradesman

*if you want to use this for expansion name me your Co-gm. I'll be GM in name and salary only. All other work will be picked up by you.

I don't think it would be possible to lure me away merely on branding. However, I would love to see a Vancouver Island team, either Victoria or Nanaimo as they would make the most sense. If a team located on the Island came into the league, I would be tempted to play there and at the very least have a long chat with the GM during free agency.

The most enticing branding that would pull me away from my current beloved team would definitely be a team called the Cincinnati Gorillas. Having an opportunity to represent one of the greatest legends of our generation by wearing their face on my jersey would be too good of a deal to pass up on.

There's only one SHL expansion that could ghet me to leave the Minnesota Mopnarchs at this point, and that would be the Detroit Falcons moving up to the big leagues. Anything shy of this stands no chance.

Not sure about branding, but a Stockholm based team would be absolutely dope to have. I think it would be a great push for the league to have a EU (or partially EU) based team.

First off March 15th happened last month pal lol

But to actually answer this it would take a lot branding wise to get me to join. Perhaps a Montreal (Not the Millitia branding though) would be a strong contender for me to join since I have made a few of those but it would mainly be the people in charge of the branding that could do it for me. I am fairly confident I am going to be staying with the Blizzard however for these next 2 seasons.

Easy choice, Lichtenau Graders. While it's not really commonly known to the rest of the world, Lichtenau - a small village in Austria - has everything it needs to host a SHL team. And the branding definitely is Graders, as they just roll over their opponents like a grader. And it suits Lichtenau very well, as the big company with graders is situated there. The colors would be black and yellow obviously. Just like the colors of the resident fire fighter group. It all adds up very nicely, thanks for the expansion team I'll definitely will get now.

I’m not going to be pulled away based on where the team is because where I’m from already has a team, but I think the league is desperate for a Montreal team at this point so that could definitely be an interesting one to think about if I ever was a free agent

I was just drafted to the Tampa Bay Barracuda but I am enjoying it there quite a bit already and have always been a very loyal player to the team that drafts me. The only things that could sway me to an expansion club would be if there were to be a team in Sweden or Red Deer, Alberta.

Quote:The SHL world was shocked to see expansion being announced for season 60. Everyone has that one branding that they'd leave their team for, no matter how happy they are there. What is your branding that could rip you away from your home?

I think there's a cluster of users on the site that are really anticipating and hoping for an SHL team in Montreal. I've been a Canadiens fan my entire life, and I'm not going to lie, the thought of moving to a team in MTL is enticing to say the least. A big part of my fun in this league is its relation to my real-life favorite sport, hockey... I choose Montreal in all NHL games and if I had the chance to land in any destination in this league, branding/city only, it would far and away be Montreal.

But I'm happy in Toronto, even if the Leafs are one of the Canadiens' longest-running rivals...

On branding alone? None. That said, I'm disappointed that the Miami Vice are out. It was a concept that I started as a joke, but it really grew on me. Now that Tampa has rebranded, it can't happen and I'm pretty sad about it. The neon pink and cyan aesthetic was fun to work with, and I really love the Ernesto Alts I had planned; not too many ways to go wrong with a bright blue alligator wearing Ray-Bans.

It would be cool to have European division in SHL but of course that wont happen. With that said I wont mind if team from Anchorage or Juneau would be in SHL. Miami would be exotic but fun too.

Hmm I'm not so sure such a branding exists actually. While expansion teams are an incredibly cool thing for this league to happen I don't usually find myself drawn that much to their designs and identities just for novelty alone - even if they look great as they usually do. Way back in the past I championed the "Buffalo Blizzard" as an expansion franchise and I still find it funny that since then both these aspects have entered the league but with different teams - Buffalo when they entered the league as the Stampede and the Blizzard when Edmonton switched to the Blizzard name from their old "Comets" identity.

If my old hometown would somehow get a team - that would be a cool reason to play for the team. Represent the hometown and try to win something while doing so? Sounds pretty nice. Other than that, I have no real feelings towards any brands or names.
