The Grizzlies are coming into the playoffs as the last place team in the standings and will face off against the defending champion Citadels. Not exactly the situation you want to be in but the Grizzlies managed to tally a couple recent wins against Quebec City. The momentum was on our side. We had a ton of tape to look over to see what worked against their squad in our victories and what we may need to improve. They will no doubt be a tough team to even get a goal on. We are a major underdog so even getting a single win will go a long way for our confidence as a team going forward. I know the series will not go in our favor 99 out of 100 times, but anything can happen in a playoff series. Just need to go out there and give it our all and play the right way.

Gosh, we ended our season playing like absolute dog water. Everything we did was just... mediocre. However, St. Louis was not ready to give up that easily. With all our kissing sessions during the games, our chemistry was growing more and more each day. When we weren't kissing, we were hosting jackbox.tv tournaments inside the locker room. Every answer would be "Jimmy's mom" and the whole team would erupt in laughter. If there's anything that gets your team prepared for the playoffs, it's making fun of your GM's mother.
Come game day, we would play hot potato with an actual baked potato. This help our wings improve their slapshot speed, just don't ask me how. Our defensive memorized the hokey-pokey dance, while our goalies kept singing, "She's a brick... House," on repeat. So far, our strategies have been successful. We've advanced to the conference finals against all odds. The smooching will continue, making fun of Jimmy's mom will continue, and we'll never lose a series again. Upon reading this there will be no surprise how Maine prepared for the playoffs. We spent all of our time getting into the deep analytics of College basketball and building very complex Parlays to try and help pay for all the expenses of being a professional Hockey player. That's the real reason that we fell apart during the playoffs. Now it wasn't all fun and games we still would get some reps in during practice, we weren't underestimating our opponents, but the thought of hitting those +20,000 parlays were way too juicy and preoccupied our thoughts during it. Then we clearly fell off our diets with all the food and drinks that we had while watching the conference tournaments leading into selection Sunday. Next season I know that we'll really focus up and not let outside forces take away from our play on the ice as we know that playing in the SHL is the main goal and bad showings like this prevent their scouting from seeing us at our full potential.

So for the playoffs everyone on the Detroit Falcons knows how important it is to be ready physically, mentally and even emotionally. These 3 things can honestly make or break teams in playoff runs if they're not locked in. The Falcons would rent out a hotel a week before playoffs where the whole team would stay at and just be at peace and do team bonding activities. There was personal trainers there for treatment to people that were aching and even a therapist for whoever just wanted to talk to someone and get stuff out. We ate really healthy food as we all had our own meal plans that our team chef would make for us everyday. and we kind of just detoxiced from the outside world to be ready to preform at the best of our ability.

There was a huge sense of excitement within the St Louis camp when playoffs came rolling around. For a huge chunk of the guys, it was their first big playoff and they couldn't help but to be giddy over the implications that could bring. After a very trying season where the kids took their time to grow and develop with the support of their more expereinced teammates, it all seemed to kick in that bit more at the very end of the season, and just as well since they would not have any easy inroads from there on out. What they did to prepare for the offseason.......was honestly just to skate together as a squad, some candid 1v1s and 3v3s, just gelling together as a squad and bonding over the lighter sides of life. Its all they really needed to do when any extra they could achieve in the playoffs would be house money........not that it would stop them from taking such house money.
