Lou is one of the best and smartest GMs in the NHL, there's a reason why he's one of the most respected GMs in hockey.
Simply stating a quote that I would only agree with if Lou had been GM of the Devil these pay...say 4ish year...? You have to admit he's made his fair share of bad decisions.
Wel if I was a devils fan I'd b happy he left because he didn't want to play here. Funny how you guys loved him and treated him with respect and he just dumped yall... shows what kind of player he is... does that make any sense. Yup cancer

Kovy and Alfie seem to have pulled the same sort of shit...
As a sens fan, I'm happy Alfie is gone now. We might actually win something under a different leader. I think that most Devils fans will feel the same way about Kovy soon.

I'm not going to lie I liked kovy. When he signed that deal it kind of revealed what kind of person he was.. as good as he is I would never want him on the ducks.. so right now I was not surprised when I found out he retired. Kinda looked fishy when he asked for that contract, turns out he was probably taunting the league while he retired to screw the team over, sounds like something a troll like jackcrasher would do....

Except, this is the real world, not some internet sim league.
He probably retired to go play for and be closer to family and friends.
And its a two way street. If nobody offers him that contract we arent in this situation, are you gonna say the same thing bout Zetterberg, Luongo, or Hossa? If someone offered you the contract I'm sure you'd turn it down though, you wouldn't wanna look like a dick.

this is real life, no matter where u go u gonna be made fun of for doing that.
i'm pretty sure this was 110% personal reason. Nothing to do with money. He recently went threw a divorce (or almost got divorced) his family has been a mess since he left Atlanta. Going back to Russia must have been more comfortable for the kids/family so if anything I have more respect for Kovy because he doesn't get the contract money (retiring not being bought out).
He's 30 and the injuries were starting to mount...
We know its a ridiculous contract I'm sure the Devils aren't too tore up about not having to deal with anymore. The silver lining in all this is if Kovy would've waited a few more years, then the cap penalty for NJ would've been much, much more than $250k per season.
And who wants a guy that doesn't have his heart set on being in the US? As I said in the Knights LR, I wonder how good he would've been, had he genuinely wanted to be here.
I wonder if the KHL is at least kind enough to wait a month or so before signing him to that ridiculous contract.
