S80 PT #5: How Did It Come To This Due: Sunday, January 19th @ 11:59 PM PST
#76

There is one clear option for this scenario! Jack Ellul runs to the kitchen and gets the Kitchen staff to get their stuff together! Obviously this was all a ploy on their part to get on the ice so it is best not to get in their way. The Head Chef would be centre leading the team. The Dishwasher is our power forward willing to get into the dirty areas of the ice. The saucier would be on the wing to send saucer passes to his team mates. The sous-chef would help out on defence with Jack. The expediter would use their expertise in making sure dishes are properly going out to make sure pucks were not going in by playing in net. The line cooks would, obviously, get their own line. The pastry cook would have to ride the pine as he would just be icing everything.

With a 6-3 lead in the 3rd with ten minutes to go, Boots is given a daunting task. Find enough capable people to swap in for his teammates who all have food poisoning. It's amazing they even got this far without getting hit with it. Without thinking of the state of the bathrooms, Boots starts with the Refs. They can skate, surely they can sub in the referees, right? Turns out they can! That's the referees problem to figure out now while the step out of the black and white stripes and into a temp Renegades Jersey. Boots Also grabs a couple of the snow crew who come out during the periods to shovel off any snow that the ice has built up from all the guys skating. Boots is already up to 10 players. With 10 minutes to go he feels like that's enough. But he needs a goalie.
Finally, Boots looks to the stands, and with the same thought, he sees Rene the Wolf staring right down at him from the stands dancing with the fans and he knows exactly what he has to do. Rene the Wolf gets padded up and gets between the pipes.
The other team manages to score 2 more but the made up team manages to shut down the rest of the period and hold the lead for the win! It's an unforgettable night in Texas.

Prompt #2

Time comes for us all eventually, and the stories of the Baltimore Platoon and Los Angeles Panthers are the same in that regard. Both teams had solid seasons this year that would have been quite competitive in the other division of their conference (BAP would have finished 2nd in the North East, LAP 3rd in the Cenral). Instead, they were 5th and 4th, respectively, on the back of roster regression and the dramatic rises of teams like Seattle and Manhattan coming out of rebuilds. It’s not entirely unexpected as both rosters have several key pieces aging rapidly.

That being said, LAP is much better equipped to weather the storm than it appears Baltimore is. LAP is younger, and thus has a few more seasons before the reaper comes for them. Much of Baltimore’s present is tied to players in the S68-S69 classes. In any other division, Baltimore may be able to squeeze a few more seasons of respectability out. However, the Atlantic is a nightmare of powerful teams, headlined by Atlanta’s ascendancy this season. With rumors that Baltimore GM Johnny Hamilton’s pending retirement from the sport, it’s fair to expect the Platoon’s playoff streak to end soon. LAP was able to make some shrewd moves, and will need to keep making them to avoid the fate that will soon befall the Platoon.

2.)

It is easy a a glance to look at the New England Wolfpack this season and wonder "what the hell happened". Well, the answer is complicated, complex, and full of mystery. Hi, I'm Troy McClure, and this is "The Blame Game" For starters, we lost a few good players in the off season, which lowered our overall skill level and made chumps like ... me... get pushed into a higher position than last year. that made chumps like @HillsHaveHats have to fill in for a chump like me, while I chumped it up for the chump that left. It was all very chumpy. Anyway, the decline of Olof and the stepping up of Five-Hole was a tough transition. Five is wild in net, sometimes doing double pad stacks, and sometimes not even reacting to shots. I suspect he was not taking the training medication the New England Staff provided for us, which was mostly just steroids. So we got younger and less talented for a time. The biggest issue is , sadly, statistics. You know how if you flip a coin 1000 times, you are going to end up being pretty close to 500 heads and 500 tails. Well in the scheme of that logic, we got a lot of heads when we were winning cups and taking dumps, and now the balance is shifting to getting knocked out and being a pout, or tails if you will. Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to go cry!

This result would greatly depend on logistics and locations of players to be had.

1) Is the minors team arena across the street like in Toronto? Thats an easy fix as long as they are on a home stand if not.
2) Put of the call to anyone who can 100% sure make it to the arena in the next 45 mins who has at least played (inset high level of hockey here) for a chance to potentially suit up to close out the game.
3) If all else fails - then post on the jumbotron that you need able bodied fans to suit up for a chance to play.

I dont think #3 would actually be needed with potentially some staff being able to fill in or #2 being able to come through with people likely sprinting for the chance to play if they at least played at the OHL/ECHL/AHL level and getting some extra exposure to the media and fans for their careers.

Option 2:

Honestly I did not expect to see Atlanta so high this quickly. They increased 0.273 in win point percentages to a record above 0.800. This in only the 33rd instance of a team getting a 0.800 record or better, and only the second instance since FHM that a team jumped from under 0.600 to over 0.800 (the other being New England in S54 with the switch to FHM, which almost doesn't count.) Atlanta enjoyed one of the best seasons in the history of the SHL and they came out of nowhere. They had the smallest dip ever for a team that was competing for cups 10 seasons ago. Only twice did they dip under 0.600, one of those being last season. With the youth on their team, I don't see why they can't continue this success for another 3 to 5 seasons. They may crash back down to earth afterwards if that prospect pool isn't refilled soon.

The best course of action if my teammates were unavailable for the rest of the period or game is to just simply cancel or postpone the game. If we were to recruit the Zamboni driver, the equipment manager or any other Joe schmo standing around thinking they are good enough to play professional hockey, it simply wouldn't be allowed by league regulations because they are not under contract by the SHL as a player. It would be cheating, which would result in a loss anyways along with fines and suspensions. Furthermore, there would be lawsuits from the Players Union if a game were to continue on with unauthorized players. Besides, aren't hockey players supposed to be tough? I think professional hockey players are more than capable of toughing out an illness for a period or half a period and then recover after the game. Hockey players have played through much worse than a little bit of food poisoning.

This is great! I would find a lot of people quite easily. Who wouldn't want to play with the one and only @HillsHaveHats ? Crickets... ok right, maybe nobody does. Might as well put him with the rest of the sick players. First, I'd grab a few people that sells tickets and food. Then I need those people that scream in the aisles 50/50! They have a great a voice and could be intimidating for the opponents. Might as well put them in. Then you do a random draw with the ticket number, but except of a prize you get to play the game and be on skates. Can you imagine how funny that could be? i just want to see that old man who always drinks bears and complain, see that guy on the ice trying to not fall every shift. I'd put him on offense cause I don't trust him to be back there,

Finding an emergency team to hold a 3 goal lead for 10 minutes? Nothing would be easier than than for Shiny Rainbow. During the playoffs her best friends and former teammates of her kids team are always in the stands watching. Having to play for 10 minutes without being able to switch lines. Salvador in net is pretty solid and unlikely to fall asleep if he has to play for only 10 minutes. Wuschel is pretty good at shooting the puck over the glass to get faceoff. Otherwise the game would get too fast and scary for him. Sugi is so unpredictable, she will take away almost all of the offensive passes and shots and the opponent won't even realize what is happening. Marshi and her 99.9 win % in the faceoffcircle will get every puck clean to Shiny Rainbow. She just has to be carefull not to get kicked out but in that case, Shiny has become decent at faceoffs now aswell. Just get the puck to Wuschel and get another faceoff for Marshi. And then all Shiny Rainbow has to do is use her speed to skate around the ice and not tget caught by the opposition. And if they end up in need of another insurance goal... Violet will be ready waiting for a breakaway. Easiest 10 minutes ever if they are already ahead by 3.

Written Option 2:

The Detroit Falcons experienced a important decline in performance within the SMJHL from season seventy nine to season 80, which appreciably changed their trajectory. The Falcons' power in S79 is their robust middle of gamers. And constantly produce solid consequences Their success has been built at the backbone of skilled veterans and young expertise. This allows them to remain a contender throughout the season. But there were drastic changes to the team's roster during the off-season. The Falcons saw an exodus of many key players. and the team lacked leadership and experience. This is because many of these key players leave for promotion to higher leagues or are traded to shape the future of the new franchise. The new roster consists primarily of rookies and less developed players. Trying to maintain a high level of play in S79, this decline was not at all unexpected. This is because it is a natural result of the rebuilding process after the loss of the main group. It also faces stiffer competition from other SMJHL teams in the S80, many of which have strengthened their rosters in the off-season.
