Written option 1

Oliver Cornwall has a lot of experience in being a pest and just a general annoying person to be around, I mean just ask Louis @Popol, so it was only natural for coach Luke to tap him to step out. Now, Oliver is no stranger to chatting up refs thanks to his time as Captain of the Vancouver Whalers. He started the dialogue with an earnest question to the referees about what they saw during the play. This gradually evolves into more and more rambunctious behavior from Oliver, making a scene on the ice and making sure that the refs attention does not stray to the amount of time ticking by since the goal was scored. Eventually, he turned his ire at the other team, loudly accusing the other team of cheating on the offside, and threatened to throw them out of cabs as he should have all those years ago with his French teammate. Does it count as a win to delay long enough to let Luke challenge while behaving poorly enough to get smacked with an unsportsmanlike penalty? I guess we’ll see how the ensuing PK goes

Option 2

This kind of low stakes preseason interview with a reporter that doesn't mind a casual response is the perfect opportunity to talk about nothing related to hockey at all. Ylib would completely ignore the upcoming season and start to ramble about the new cheese garlic pull apart bread he made over the weekend. If the reporter seems to respond well to this and accept that the interview won't end up being about hockey, then Ylib would continue to try and make the interview last as long as possible and see how far he can go with random and useless topics. The goal wouldn't necessarily be to create viral clips of the strange interview topics, but he certainly wouldn't shy away from holding an interview so out of left field that people start to post it and talk about it simply due to it being a nice change of pace from the normal old hockey topics.

I’m faking an injury right away. Soccer is a sport where players are known to waste time in critical moments, what’s the most popular way of doing this? Faking an injury and having medical staff come out.

My player will drop to all fours with his head hanging over his shoulders, and start gasping for air. Medical staff will tell me to lay down so they can assess me, this goes on for a minute. The crowd is starting to buzz with concern, coach has already called video coach every name in the book while also getting enough time to see if the offside actually happened. Then my players get up very slowly and wraps arms around teammates shoulders while we head back to the bench. I go to the locker room to “catch my breath” for a couple minutes, and then I’m back to the bench ready for coach to throw me back out again and after saying thanks for getting that goal called back.

Written Option 2: At the beginning of the season your player gives in depth interview with a reporter who they are familiar with at their home. The reporter is mostly interested in hearing your players thoughts on this upcoming season but will let your player to steer the conversation to any topics they would like to talk about. So what does your player talk about? Is it mostly about this upcoming season or do they want to talk about their career as a whole? And do they talk only about hockey or does your player also share more personal things? You can either describe the interview, its tone and topics, how it will be received by public, write a quote or two that would make rounds on social media or write the whole interview if you want to.

If a reporter were to come into my home before the season, especially this season, I will talk mostly about my upcoming rookie season. There’s so much to be excited about in Seattle as we’re on the way up and about to make the leap into contender territory, that it’s a very exciting time for my player to be joining the team. With that said it wouldn’t all be about hockey. In an interview like this, I would absolutely talk about my family and how proud. I am to have two amazing kids who support me along with an incredible wife who’s been there for my whole career. Without them by my side, there’s no chance I could’ve ever made it as far as I did, but luckily, they are there with me every step of the way and ready to dive into this next adventure together. We have a lot to be thankful for and so much to be excited about as we start this journey of the new season.

S61 Four Star Cup - Game-Winning Goal in the clinching Game 4

Written option 1

This is going to be funny. It would be a different scenario whether my player was the starting goalie in that game or sitting on the bench as a backup. Both are possibilities, but to keep it short I will just go with scenario that's funnier and make Shaggy the backup goalie in this game, because it works better. How do you easily distract the refs? Shaggy skates out to the center of the ice and simply starts... stripping. You read that right. First he takes off his blocker and glove. He wasn't wearing a mask so no need to take that off. Then the rest of the equipment even though it's a little awkward to do this in the middle of the ice standing up and not sitting down. It's just meant to distract people and it probably will draw everyone's attention because it's the last thing people would expect him to do. It's also harmless enough because someone will ask him about what he's doing before he even got all the equipment off. He might get some weird comments too, but hopefully not a suspension. In the end it was worth it. The refs were totally confused and forgot what happened.

Option 2:

Inge Baardsen would have a lot to talk about, sitting down with a member of the press, especially a member of the Norwegian sports press. Now, Inge is far from the top Norwegian name in the SHL, there are other luminaries such as Adam Prpich, the Solbergs, among others. But he is an intriguing young player, in his 4th season in the SHL proper. They would talk about his initial experiences in Regina, wearing an A on his jersey for the Elk and how he feels about the teams move to Thunder Bay. Then onto how his first few season with Baltimore have gone, his relationships with the real stars of the team like Olubori, Valieva and Bergmark. It may veer away from Baltimore briefly to discuss Team Norway and their incredible gold medal performance at the IIHF this past offseason, which Inge played a significant part in. And finally, a look ahead to this season, including Inge being elected as an Alternate Captain of the franchise, an enormous honour, especially for someone so young!

Westley decided to give an in depth interview with his favorite reporter: Red Sour Patch Kid. And boy did Westley have a lot to say. We would love to be able to quote him, however, Westley's young age and time spent on Team France have caused chaos on his speech. Almost every word seems to have their syllables thrown about like a word scramble and Westley picked up the French Tradition of refusing to say the last consonant of any word, aside from a small bit of nasal inflection. In the end the words we could decipher were: "Truck, beep beep, goldfish crackers, and more cookie", seems Westley is hungry this season and will be eating more cookies to satisfy his appetite while he fantasizes about getting a new truck with his first paycheck of the season. When asked if this decision was fiscally responsible he responded by picking up a toy zebra and going "moooooo" which we can only guess at what deeper meaning can be found here.

Prompt 2

M'Baku Olubori would love to sit down for an interview with a local sportswriter in Baltimore. We certain discuss how things will go with the Platoon this season—there is undoubtedly a changing of the guard after 17 years, as the team goes through some transition between eras. His comments on the S81 draft class would be limited to what little Baku saw during prospects camp (he likes to hang around during it). Baku’s role is also changing—gone appear to be his days playing on the power play (something he’s unhappy about but will resist discussing).

Instead, Baku would want to focus on the broader goals of his career—uplifting members of the African diaspora on either side of the Atlantic. He will insist on discussing the grassroots work he’s doing with NGOs back in Nigeria to grow the game of ice hockey in West Africa, including the summer skills camps he runs in the offseason. He’ll discuss the challenges of being a professional athlete and also working for broader goals—he only has so much time, so some of the most important work is done by others outside the spotlight. Baku would waste no time singing the praises of people like his friend and retired WSBL star, Chinyelu Sani, or brilliant nonprofit executives like Musa Adebayo and Sade Adamma, who help keep things moving. He’ll also once again beat the drum of having an IIHF team of people who look like him, whether it’s an actual Team Nigeria or (more likely) a Pan-African Federation.

The interview will upset the same stupid, ignorant fans that always get upset when a charismatic, Black athlete speaks their mind. It will also warm the hearts of the people it needed to—members of the far flung African diaspora who need to see smart, caring figures in positions of influence celebrating their people and working to make lives better.

Cauliflower Pizza after being scored on, which looks to be offside, managed to ‘slip’ and fall. Upon doing this Pizza managed to snap his goalie stick off as well as a strap from his goalie mask becoming undone. When the ref made his way over to try and help the almost 7 foot giant, Pizza, who was already half way up, slipped again and took out both him and the ref. Both chuckled about how difficult it was to stand back up after coming crashing back down. When they finally managed to get up, Pizza asks the ref if it was okay if the ref could check his gear because it feels like one of his goalie pads also came loose in one of the falls. The ref luckily agreed and gave it a quick once over. Everything seemed fine and when the ref finally gained his composure he had now started to notice the video coach signalling and telling him that they would like to challenge the goal, and that the ref missed his signal at the start due to the conundrum with their netminder.

Written Option 1: Since Shiny Rainbow likes to play small and harmless pranks she'd probably take this as an invitation to do something really dumb. Maybe she thinks she is fast enough to tie together the skates of the referee with the ones of an opposing player. Or steal the whistle and plant it on the other teams bench. In that case she's prob recieve an additional penalty on top of failing to provide the needed time to challenge the goal. If her teammates are quick enough to talk her out of doing anything stupid she may try to put on a huge show of her skating skills to fire up the entire crowd and skating around the refs so fast, they just can't focus on what they wanted to do anymore because on top wondering what the Heck Shiny Rainbow is doing there they'd really struggle to stay on their skates because of all the wind blowing once SHiny Rainbow goesaround them in full speed. She may still be thrown out of the game for delay of game or turning a hockey game into skating skill showdown, but atleast the coaches would have more than enough time for a successful challenge this way. And as we all know, more PK time for QCC means more goals for Dejana Kaptina, so it wouldn't even hurt the team.

Option 2:

Paul Bondage loves being in the prime time highlights both for highlight reels in a game, as well as interviews. He is an absolute horrific person to interview, but that does not mean he does not like it. He starts off with your basics, how he spent the offseason training, what he hopes for the team in Atlanta to accomplish this season, the high expectations of winning the Presidents Trophy last year but coming up short in the playoffs, there is only one more step for this team in Atlanta to achieve. But then he lets it slip that he has been getting heavily involved in the Final Fantasy XIV grind again since being off. "Did you know that the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has a free trial, and includes the entirety of A Realm Reborn AND the award-winning Heavensward expansion AND the Stormblood expansion up to level 70 with no restrictions on playtime? Sign up, and enjoy Eorzea today!" is the headline in the papers the next morning.

Task 2

IStir MyPudding is a rather private individual, so the idea of hosting a journalist in their home is not one they are particularly excited about. But being a player in the league comes with drawbacks, like the constant media presence, and the fans require entertainment beyond the goings on of the rink itself. The reporter, as usual, will have some prepared questions and generally try to guide the conversation toward whatever it is they find themselves most interested in that given moment, but MyPudding was, in a past life, an interviewer for research studies and understands how to shift the conversation. MyPudding wants to talk bigger legacy. How they feel they were never really the locker room presence they wanted to be, or the strain of moving teams late in your career, or wondering what recreating will look like this time around. So they try to frame this current season in a grander context, but aren't really sure they do it effectively and suspect the recording the journalist has of the conversation is a bit of a jumbled mess of poorly thought out musings about life and hockey and legacy and purpose.

A few seasons ago, Justin Time sat down with a reporter at his San Francisco home to discuss his career, and the transition from a young star player to a veteran on the downward slope toward a smaller role, and what it meant for his future in the league. Little did either of them know that the veteran goaltender would go on to have one of his career best seasons and add a second John McBride trophy to his award cabinet. Following that season, another solid performance and nomination and the second of back to back cups, we're back to the same spot we were just a few seasons ago. The run can't continue, can it? Time gives the same platitudes as before: he's done everything he could have hoped for, won cups, won awards, and been part of two incredible teams. Anything from now on is just gravy. The prospect of the all-time wins record looms ahead of him though, closer every week, and now he's locked in a tight race with fellow vet Rebecca Montagne to see who can catch Mat Smith first. Is it that competition that's still driving him forward? Is he just getting some late career luck? Whatever it is, he'll take it.

Written Prompt 2:

Denebor Milasch gave several interviews over the offseason to talk about the upcoming season. After playing his whole career with Toronto and going on a miraculous playoff run with the North Stars in the previous season, he decided it was time to move on and find a new home. So the interviews would start with him praising Toronto, the team, and the fans and why he decided it was time to move on. Getting into him being an aging goaltender who had at times been the best goalie in the league and now wanting to try and find a championship level organization to play out his days. Then he would speak on how different Atlanta is to Toronto and how excited he was to explore the city and try out southern life in the USA. After that Denebor would likely spend time talking about training in Sweden with the national team in the upcoming IIHF tournament. After that he would likely just talk about the upcoming season and what goals and training he would undertake and how excited he was to meet and spend time with everyone on Atlanta.
