Verification: go leafs 10. Written, 50 to 200+ words. What do they do different? (4TPE) Answer: The San Francisco Pride have just been on a different level from the rest of the SHL becoming arguably the greatest dynasty of the FHM era. For six straight seasons the San Francisco Pride have finished in either first or second in the league and continue to make smart moves to keep their cup window open adding key pieces getting Valentine at fifty per cent retained in season eighty one, brining in Svatos in season eighty at fifty per cent retained, adding two active more talented defenders (Nostradamus and Journey Man), convincing Benjamin Surkhi Ze'ev to switch from forward to defense to continue his journey in the SHL while keeping their entire loaded core intact managing the cap like wizards. Also the chemistry on this San Francisco Pride is unmatched with the whole team winning now three straight championships which has never been done in SHL history. The cray part is it does not look like the San Francisco Pride are done as they have a lot of their core still in their prime and their goalie Justin Time just had arguably the best season stats wise a goalie has ever had in the SHl as he set a modern goalie record with 48.97 GSAA. 12. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Jenga (2 TPE) Answer: 4 team expansion is unprecedented so I am curious to see what the expansion guidelines will be but could be a big brain move if a team that just started rebuilding and is protecting some low earning almost inactive guys to really use the expansion draft to stockpile more picks if teams can leverage their protection slots for 1st round picks from the other team for top teams who wants to protect someone rather then having to make a deal with four expansion teams not to take an unprotected player. Personally that is what I would do if I was in the position of a team that is early into their rebuild. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Senior Member

rats (trivia, +3 TPE) Writing Prompt 5. 8 of the top 10 players on SFP being forwards is a crazy imbalance. It's very interesting that TBB has the opposite setup. While I am relatively new to the SHL and only have a very basic understanding of the sim / balance / meta - it seems to me that offensive production outscales defense. It doesn't matter how good your defense is if the opponent is dominating the zones and has the puck up near your net the whole game. Even the best defense is gonna give up shots, and eventually they are going to find their way into the net. As such, I think you want to have a core of powerful forwards. If there's a fault in the enemy lines, you switch into a good matchup, you can wrack up the score real quick and build up a nice buffer for your own defense. Do you think they could have made it to the finals if they were in a different division? 2. The San Francisco Pride definitely had the easier run to the finals as they finished first in the league landing them matchups against the worst teams to make it in the playoffs in the Winnipeg Aurora (15th in the season standings), Seattle Argonauts (5th) and the New Orleans Specters (6th). This is much easier compared to the 11th place Tampa Bay Barracuda going up against the Philadelphia Forge (3rd), Atlanta Inferno (2nd) and the New England Wolfpack (8th). Regardless of the road to the cup finals, I think both teams had what it took to make it to the finals irrespective of their paths. (104 words, +2 TPE) 3. To me, what makes Logan Webb and Dominik Winters a dangerous duo is the fact that they pair really well with each other in terms of Dominik Winters taking the faceoffs and arguably being the more defensive of the two, whereas Logan Webb then has the freedom to be a little bit more physical and shoot the puck more, taking more chances. Although, while Logan Webb is the shooter of the two, both complement each other so well that at the end of the day they both benefit offensively with them both leading the San Francisco Pride in points throughout the seasons. (102 words, +2 TPE) 4. I would say it's less so the depth and more so the chemistry that the likes of Tampa Bay's Jølngüštrâädüvich DuBølk, Rikkert Biemans and Johnny Wagner-Svenson has made throughout the seasons of playing together. This chemistry takes time to build and is able to support the team even through times in which their TPE may not be the highest in the league. Tampa had to beat the second- and third-ranked team in the league, because Atlanta and Philadelphia are both in their division, while the Pride only faced one team that finished in the top 5. On top of that, Tampa had two series going all the way to game seven, while San Francisco never faced elimination. 63 words - 1 TPE Code: 14. Written, 50 to 200+ words. Volatile Results I love the volatility of the IIHF tournament. The round robin still has a decent number of games where every team gets to play everyone else in their poll once, which for me, is enough of a sample to get a decent idea of whom are the teams that should be good enough to move to the next round without too much volatility. But after this, I feel like anything can happen and it is what makes the IIHF tournament really exciting. It gives every team that makes it out of the round robin and their supporters that they actually have a shot at winning goal. This hope is what will make people tune in to watch the game. Unlike a seven-game series, you can’t afford to miss any of the games that happen, because they all are decisive games where one team moves on and the other one goes home. In a best-of-7 series, you can afford to miss all the games before at least one of the teams wins three games, because there is always a possibility to make a comeback. The single elimination games also make the tournament unique instead of being similar to the regular league playoffs this distinction it’s part of what makes the charm of the tournament. 213 words - 4 TPE Nor Ge

2: Just on the teams and standings alone, it's pretty clear that Tampa Bay had a harder time because I'd argue they were the underdog in every series they played - I think I picked Philadelphia to go to the finals, so that upset made me upset. But even with that aside, San Francisco had an opening series against Winnipeg - a sub-.500 team - and then played Seattle - who (I hope) are a team on the rise rather than one that is at or near their peak - so maybe the first series where the Pride weren't the obvious favourites was the one against New Orleans. San Francisco could absolutely have made it to the finals were they in a different division or playing on the East, that's unquestionable, and I think I'd lean on the side of Tampa Bay definitely having the potential to make it were they in the Pacific. The two divisions are obviously the strongest and, were this a straight swap for the sake of the hypothetical, the Barracuda would enjoy series against Edmonton, LA, Calgary and Seattle a lot more than Manhattan, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Atlanta. Whether that means they'd get through all the way, I'm less sure - the West is, overall, just that bit stronger. (207 words, 4 TPE)
8: I write this after the series' conclusion but I'd have had San Francisco regardless. They're a goddamned dynasty, they're a juggernaut, they've got the best goaltender in the league, the best pure scorer, maybe the best overall forward corps, what else do you need to know? Until they start to regress and fall apart, the road to the cup goes through San Francisco, that's all there is to say. (69 words, 1 TPE) 12. Love expansion. Bring the chaos! This is an interesting question because while I've seen expansion happen before, it was in the J and it was on quite a lot of a smaller scale - I think Detroit lost 2 players and quite a few teams only gave up 1, rather than the 3+ that are going to be changing teams this time. It is obviously going to rely quite heavily on how stringent the protection rules are but I look at my Seattle squad and frankly, I fear. We have a lot of strength in depth and I worry that teams like us, who are quite balanced up and down the roster and who don't necessarily live or die on the performances of the top handful of players, are going to be disproportionately affected. If we hypothetically are only allowed to protect four defensemen, then...are we just doomed to lose two fine young players because we've drafted well? This isn't meant to be a gripe against the idea, for the record, it is very much a situation that needs to happen because multiple expansion teams fighting over scraps or inactive players would suck for everybody, but you did ask my opinion and here it is. SSL Affiliate PT (+3 TPE) Finals Fiesta Faceoff (229 words, +4 TPE) There's not even a question that the best party would be put on by the Vancouver Whalers. We were so bad for so long and we managed to keep our spirits high and the locker room atmosphere fun and exciting. Now that we're good that's been dialed up to 1000. So what makes a good party? First you need the music. Our locker room is filled with a fairly diverse range of music tastes so there's going to be something for everyone in that playlist. Second, you need the food. Vancouver is a melting pot of different cultures and as such we have access to some of the best food in the country. You don't want really heavy food for a party, you want light easy to eat food that doesn't sap people's energy. Fresh seafood in a variety of forms, be that fried calamari or the best sushi North America has to offer makes that a 10/10. Then you've got the venue and the activities. Vancouver has some beautiful places to host events with gorgeous views of the ocean and the skyline of the city that rival anywhere in the world. As for activities, aside from the obvious dance floor we'd have some fun art stations, a pin the tail on the blahaj game, and most importantly a dunk tank that Seany is very willingly sitting in. ![]() ACP Access Make-A-Wish Kid ![]() Simmer Simmer |
