S80 PT #2: The Game Before Christmas Due: Sunday, December 29th @ 11:59 PM PST

Written Option 2:

When it comes to planning a party, Matviy Cajabi is probably the last name on your list, Christmas or otherwise. The otherwise quiet and reserved Blizzard forward is not known for cutting loose, at least so far as partying in the traditional sense.
However, he did extend an open invitation to his teammates to join him in "Small Town", Manitoba over the Christmas break to enjoy some time away from the city living in Edmonton and spend it hangin' on the farm.

To some of the Blizzard players, farm life may be a familiar thing. To others, it will be an entirely new experience, albeit a good one. Hopefully. What's not to love about breathing in that fresh, country air. By which of course I mean the smell of manure. But it's really all in the same. Stay there long enough and you come to appreciate it.
Provided the temperature in Manitoba in late December isn't too harsh, expect some quadding and or/skidooing to take place around the area. Whether out on the back roads or just around the property to go and see the animals, zipping around on the ATVS and sleds with the crisp winter air in your face is invigorating.
Of course, everyone will feast afterwards on mix of traditional Christmas food as well as some Ukrainian infusion. It's Matviy Cajabi, so you know there will be plenty of pierogies to go around! After everyone has had their fill, it's time to break out the playing cards. For the rest of the night, there will be a healthy mix of Rummoli (which I'd have to read the rules to remember how to play because it's been TOO long), Thirty-one, Cribbage, Screw Your Neighbour, and any other games they can think of.

It might not be a "party", but it will be a great time with family and close friends. A Cajabi celebration of Christmas and camaraderie.

Twas the night before Christmas and quite aghast was I, for the rival team with at it to my eyes.
With a score tied up and overtime looming with all prepped in for a through grooming.
Up on the screen the highlights did run some of them naughty and some of them fun!

We just had to do it, surely we shall score but careful we will be because losing I'd abhor.
Puck is knocked free form the circle dot while players with skates are coming in hot!
Stand steady and keep on the focus, for if we do falter the media will roast us.

Quick snap from them and the save is made and back up the ice go our boys the brave.
Dipsy-doodling and sneaking with speed it only takes 1 shot holding us back from our mead.
The shot it away and past the other team, all we can do is cheer and beam.

Tip Toasty is not much of a party planner, which made his selection to plan the holiday party an odd one. Toasty took the task seriously and did his best. For games, the team did an accuracy contest by handing ornaments at the corners of the goals and seeing which player could snipe the best. There were unique board games that the team took a surprisingly competitive approach to.

For food, there was a full range catered by a local company - meat and cheese and protein infused snacks, way too many sweets, a cereal bar, and a build your own pasta station. The team ate well as it was after practice and several days before the next game.

The party goes okay, especially since the team gets along so well. Some tensions ran high at the board game table, but fights were avoided and everyone left feeling a bit more chemistry with their teammates. Toasty vowed never to plan another party in his life.

T’was the game before Christmas and the Kelowna Knights were facing their ever-annoying rivals from Vancouver, a team named the Wahalers. Both teams are in a rebuilding mode so the game turned into a scrapfest pretty fast with Vancouver claiming an early lead of 4-0 in the first thirds. The Knights Coach was already questioning himself if pulling goalie Gino Fortezza was the play for the remainder of the game, but a mix of trust and maybe blind christmas feels he decided that Gino should stay. He has always been good for a blunder, but an immovable object in big gamees and the playoffs.
This gamble paid off, the offense revitalized in the 3rd and scored 4 unanswered goals, courtesy of Corrigan, Bedrock, Khalfani and Lafreniere. The italian fortress held.
Overtime: A perfectly placed shot from the whalers is stopped by a lightning quick stick save from Fortezza who is able to block the rebound with his blocker aswell, sending the puck directly to Corrigan who takes it on a breakaway, scoring the 5th goal and ending Overtime.
Truly a christmas miracle!

Man what a horrible Christmas Eve this has been. Not only are we playing a hockey game on this day, but it is on the road at our haded rivals.  The only good thing is that we are up 4-0, this will be a quick game. The puck dropped at noon and we will be able to catch our charter and make it home for Christmas Eve with the family.  But what is this, maybe we let down too early and everyone is thinking of getting on that plane as well because it up is now 4-3 and the opponents have scored.  What is happening, it is now 4-4 and not only that, with one minute the whistle is blown nd hooking there’s call on our team.  So, I am out on the ice and the option are both bad, a possible loss or OT and missing our flight.  But never fear McFisherman is on the ice. I win the defensive zone face off and like a rocket release down down the ice, my team rockets the pass and with a deek and a jook it’s through the 5 hole.  The horn sounds with glee we win 5-4 , on my league leading sixth SH GOAL, and we shout as we escape off the ice merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

T'was the game before Christmas and all through the rink
Chicago fans were hoping that their team would not stink.

The defense were nestled all snug in their zone,
until one of them discovered he was all alone.

The opposition were coming, it was a three on one
and suddenly the game became a lot less fun.

A pass, a deek and a snipe happened right quick
the dangle of the bad guys was deliciously sick

It didn't look great for the city of wind,
the defenseman got trapped, completely pinned

But out of the panic, arose a goalie: Chicago's last chance
The Forward spun and shot, a precarious dance

The puck sailed past, the shot was on the net
but fate would have a say: Oh no! not yet!

The Goalie's best friend, when he needed it the most
a beautiful ping... it hit the post!

Chicago got the rebound and went down the ice
The Syndicate player didn't think twice

He buried the puck in the mesh right quick
and assured himself the game winning Hat Trick!

WRITTEN OPTION 2

Toronto ''North Stars'' has always been a team who tries to be a family. That's the reason why there isn't a big Christmas party, because mostly players spends their time with families. However, before they go on holidays, they have a small team party. Each player takes with them their family. Each season there are specific player who is put in charge of helping to plan this event. This time it was Aumy Junior II. So this season there was a team dinner with a DJ and a party. People just spends their time together and have fun. Important to mention that this event always helps to build team chemistry. This season ''North Stars'' are playing pretty bad, so it's needed. Event didn't have nay specific things. Teammates were having fun while fiances, wives and girlfriends got to know each other. Kids had their own place where to play. It had a Christmas vibe and that's the most important.

As one of the captains of the Nevada Battleborn, Hip Hurts has been tasked with helping to plan the team's holiday party. He's feeling a little apprehensive about it, since he grew up in Finland and he doesn't like the idea of Christmas in the desert. The weather is tough to plan for, because it won't be cold enough to feel like his normal Christmas, but it won't be warm enough to lean into it and have the party outdoors. Instead of burdening someone with hosting the entire team, they've rented out a huge nearby airbnb. Hurts enjoys cooking, so has volunteered to help in the kitchen with many of the dishes for dinner, and that way he can make other people clean up after dinner, since he knows he will immediately find a seat on the couch and watch football afterwards. The team is full of young players who technically aren't old enough to drink, but it looks like some exceptions were made and people partied hard, and hopefully jfk doesn't find out.

T'was the game before christmas,
between the Rage and Argonauts.
The game was entertaining,
great value for the tickets people bought

Seattle led by four goals,
scored by Fenix and Switchbang.
Then Rage started their comeback,
And Argonauts thought "Oh dang!"

As Morley scored two,
the spirits started to grew,
but how late they would tie it,
that nobody knew.

One minute left,
puck's passed to Mary Hollywood,
she absolutely sniped it,
and the feeling was jolly good.

Ten seconds were left,
Rage with net empty.
Kove gets a breakaway,
"How much time? Not plenty!"

Kove tied it at the last second,
so it went to overtime.
Jagrbomb stood up,
and said "My time to shine!"

He said "Coach, let me start",
Coach snubbed him "Hell no!",
Jags said "Please you old fart,
I swear I will score!"

He got on the ice,
they gave him the puck,
before clapping it he said:
"Hey Morley, please duck!"

He pulled the trigger,
the hardest shot ever, I bet.
It went past the goalie,
and even through the net.

Rage won the game,
and christmas was merry,
they went back home happy,
on an NYC ferry.

The NL Christmas party is always a rager because for some reason most of the alumni are alcoholics for some reason. The food there is mostly going to be hors d'oeuvre, pigs in a blanket, spinach and artichoke dip, a few cheese boards with a main dish of pasta noodles smothered in ketchup. More ketchup than you could possibly imagine and no sane person would enjoy. The main portion of the part is the alcohol, we don't let the players drink as they have a game soon but it is a pass for all the drunkard alumni to go crazy. We got bottles of everything and an open bar, we'll also be giving out mini bottles of water so people are completely wrecked at the end of the night. The signature drink this year is the flaming zerk which is really just flaming Tequila shots but we wanted to keep it simple. Not the most festive party but who cares about that when you're blasted

Written Option 2:

Christmas and party. Two of Niclas Sundqvist's favorite words. It was however more of jul than christmas for him, since he is Swedish. This tradition has little to do with christianity and more with the gift of giving and spending time with family. Since moving to the big leagues of SMJHL and SHL, Niclas always valued his teams close and especially so Manhattan. They are all his family away from home. That is why he proposed a traditional Swedish julbord that he would be more than happy to guide and delegate over. In a true julbord sense, the food is established with the people who are there and what they bring. So while Niclas did prepare some simple traditional food of the julbord for everyone to enjoy: Jansons frestelse, sill, various smoked fishes and meat, and so on. He did as everyone to bring a good shareable dish of their own as well. The party was a smashing hit and everyone agreed to do a repeat next year!

The party planing committee had their annual christmas lottery and appointed Abbe as the main planner. And in secret Abbe was happy with it. Because he had some big plans.
The night would start with a little christmas walk in a winter wonderland. where the players family members had dressed up as the living creatures in the Grinch movie. Big hair and adorable cheeks.
after some happy time the grinch would appear and steal the bags of presents. And the players and their children or familymembers would start an adventure to find it.
And it would be an DnD-inspired hunt. Dice would roll and quest would be finnished.
And when the group would figure out all the clues they would end up in a nice restaurant where it would be a buffé of all kinds of christmas food. And from there on out it would be a classic christmas dinner or christams party. Some booze, some strange behaviors but mostly nice and friendly (and childproof) get-togheter

Olivija Agate then rose from the bench, eager to throw into this game, a wrench. So she leapt to the ice and began to retrieve, the loose puck that her opponent would conveniently leave. Up the smooth ice she would see her dearest teammate, and from stick to stick was the puck bound in fate. Crossing the blue line the Argos did soar, and to win this game, they would need to score. The clock winds down, and the tension is high, so who would be the one to break this tie? From Sykut to Switchbang, Tentacles to Fenix, Kekkonen, Tomlander, Marius and Jaaskelainen. On Wolker, on Cotswold, on Hirano and Kondos! On Steelflex on Murphy, on Losanov on Van Apeldoorn! But who would be the one to seal, the games most final and absolute deal? Tic and tac, perhaps even toe, the pucks zips around, watch it go! But finally the lane opened up to shoot, and Olivija Agate would give it the boot! The puck soars up high, then sinks back down low, and ding, bar down, the puck did then go! The crowd leaps and roars, the Argonauts score, and on this night of nights, regardless of time, this game would end, five to four!

We're in Los Angeles afterall, a Christmas here is bound to be different than the ones Derek Martin experienced in his native southern Quebec, the snow-filled ice wonderland of his youth years. There's something of a nostalgia around those times, one that he's wishing to recreate if possible, while also not losing sight of the singularity of a beach celebration of the holidays. So, as Captain and tasked with closing out the year in style, a two-pronged approached was determined as the best course of action. First off, family skate at the Staples, leading off into a few beach activities reminiscent of what the holidays are about. Once that fun has been had, its time for the real deal, the snow, the cold, the winter activities in the Lake Tahoe region of California, where the team chartered an entire hotel and ski resort for the team to have loads of fun during their time off, which is ultimately capped off with a team dinner for the ages, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and all. Hoping it'll be a good one!
