Game 50

Knights @ Falcons

Etienne Modano scores his 3rd of the night in the 3rd period

At least 2 players looked like they were clicking in this matchup. Etienne Modano scored twice at the end of the 1st to help Trubachev’s earlier goal put the Knights up by 3 goals early on the road. That pretty much shut down home team Falcons except for Alexandre Sauvé, who was able to put not 1 but 2 pucks past Demko in the next 2 periods, the 3rd period tally coming off the powerplay, but with Modano completing the hat trick, Kelowna sealed the victory.

RESULT:
Knights - 4
Falcons - 2

1st Star – Etienne Modano, Knights (3G, 0A, 3P)
2nd Star – Alexandre Sauvé, Falcons (2G, 0A, 2P)
3rd Star – Merit Csonka, Knights (0G, 2A, 2P)

Rayan Pitaniya adds insult to injury at home for Regina

Regina was looking for a strong confident home win and got one when taking on the Impact! It took a bit to get the ball rolling, but Edge Ochocinco, the sophomore winger, started the Force right with a late 1st period goal. Christian Blauch quickly followed as a penalty committed 10 seconds later led to a quick Force goal another 10 seconds later, quick! It would stay 2-0 Regina through the 2nd period until rookies David Webb and Rayan Pitaniya would score in the second half of the 3rd period, Webb on the advantage, to complete the shutout!

RESULT:
:impact: - 0
:force: - 4

1st Star – Rayan Pitaniya, :force: (1G, 1A, 2P)
2nd Star – Anton Riga Jr., :force: (100% SV, 0.00 GAA, 1 SO)
3rd Star – Edge Ochocinco, :force: (1G, 0A, 1P)

Game 52

Falcons @ Scarecrows

Niklas Svensson with the secondary assist for his 3rd of the night on a Patrik Å atan goal

2 division rivals will always be a good matchup, but no one expected this game to be so tight! Detroit started the scoring with Michael J. Caboose capitalizing on the Yoezer Ben-Zecharia penalty late in the 1st, but gave up a powerplay goal of their own in the middle of the 2nd to Sasha-Alexei Smirnov! These 2 goals laid the path for the 3rd period explosion, with Pavel Bursyuk scoring 3 minutes in off a Banananov pass. That lead lasted for 6 minutes until Alex Fischer notched his 7th goal of the season off an Aaron Brown penalty. Another 4 minutes goes by and St. Louis retakes the lead with top center Patrik Šatan going the distance at the end of a Bubba Nuck slashing minor. Clay Parker reminded us just 2 minutes later how close these teams are as he converted the Vsevolod Nikitin penalty-induced powerplay to tie the game with 5 minutes remaining. The big man of the regulation periods was Niklas Svensson for St. Louis, who assisted each of the Scarecrows goals. Overtime was no success, so we went to a shootout! Nils Wahlstrom, the rookie sniper, got his chance first and was denied by Lassi Pylsy! Caesar Ali Rockefeller came up to score the first goal of the shootout and put one by Rob Pressen! Thomas Anderson needed a goal for his team but couldn’t get one by Pylsy and Chernika Banananov put an easy shot past Pressen for the victory!

RESULT:
Falcons - 3
Scarecrows - 4

1st Star – Niklas Svensson, Scarecrows (0G, 3A, 3P)
2nd Star – Pavel Bursyuk, Scarecrows (1G, 0A, 1P)
3rd Star – Patrik Šatan, Scarecrows (1G, 0A, 1P)
