Game 89
@ :impact: Montreal celebrates Conn Thomson, who scored his 3rd of the 1st Period Conn Thomson and the Impact were looking for a home win against the scary Whalers of the West, and did so in quick fashion! Vuro Vlaters the free agent scored within the 1st minute, followed closely by 2 of Thomson’s 3 1st period goals! The Whalers, shocked by being down 3-0 within 5 minutes of play, countered with 2 goals by Mike Hawk and Pierre-Luc Laflamme in the middle of the 1st, but Thomson completed his hat trick with 3 seconds left to end the period 4-2. Danny Sexbang would add another in the 2nd period early and the Impact got lazy with the lead, letting in a powerplay goal from Shinji Kudryashov and the Vancouver blue line, but Hay Cosmo, with his 5th of the season, reminded the fans who won the game with a tally inside the last 5 minutes of the game! RESULT: - 3 :impact: - 6 1st Star – Conn Thomson, :impact: (3G, 0A, 3P) 2nd Star – Danny Sexbang, :impact: (1G, 2A, 3P) 3rd Star – Chris Fekete, :impact: (0G, 3A, 3P) Game 51 @ Moosejaw Boudrea celebrates his blue-line goal The Falcons looked for a dominant home win and Nils Wahlstrom started things right with his 10th goal of the season less than 10 seconds into the 1st! Kelowna looked to respond and found Keith Trubachev and Merit Csonka as the guys to do it in the last 5 minutes of the 1st. Down 2-1, Clay Parker tied the game up for the home Falcons, but the rookie Moosejaw Boudreau lasered a goal from the blue line to, once again, give Kelowna the lead. Barney Tuzis finally equalized the game with 8 minutes remaining in the 3rd, and no one could score. Overtime was the same, with solid defensive hockey by both sides. The shootout was a great goalie demonstration, as Rob Pressen and Adam Demko were fantastic, but Pressen’s experience blocked Sean Leonidas’ goal and the rookie Demko couldn’t stop Barney Tuzis for the shootout victory goal! RESULT: - 3 - 4 1st Star – Moosejaw Boudreau, (1G, 1A, 2P) 2nd Star – Clay Parker, (1G, 1A, 2P) 3rd Star – Barney Tuzis, (1G, 0A, 1P) Game 52 @ :force: Edge Ochocinco notched his 8th of the season in the 2nd period Regina was looking to give the West their first win of the day, but St. Louis had other plans on the road! Alexander Kovalchuk got Regina going at home with a late tally in the 1st to give them a lead into the 2nd. Edge Ochocinco would add to the lead in the 2nd with a late goal of his own, and the Force were condifent! But St. Louis went off. Patrik Šatan notched his 14th on the Brandon Pomery powerplay just 3 minutes in. Pomery responds with his own goal, but it won’t be enough. Derek Underscore the free agent knocks one in from the blue line off the Justin Cunningham powerplay, and Trill, another free agent, responds quickly. St. Louis would end the 3rd period with 3 more goals, one quickly from Axel Reid, one 3 minutes later from Yoezer Ben-Zecharia, and one from 1st overall pick Stacker Pentecost late to edge out the victory with 5 goals in the 3rd! RESULT: - 5 :force: - 4 1st Star – Edge Ochocinco, :force: (1G, 1A, 2P) 2nd Star – Niklas Svensson, (0G, 3A, 3P) 3rd Star – Charlie Winchester, :force: (0G, 2A, 2P) |
