How about we stop basing it strictly on time all together? In my experience (And a few others here judging by posts) the shorter podcasts are better. How about we stop rewarding people who have nothing but time for rambling on about crap and go based on quality. Do like the graphics graders have done with video grading. Set a minimum time to get full marks (For podcasts lets say 15 minutes) once it's past that time it gets a guaranteed certain amount (Lets say 750k to keep with the current scale) then you add in grades for originality, quality and content. Each worth 50k per 1/10 grade for a maximum of 500k each. That way more people may be willing to listen to podcasts. Those who create GOOD podcasts will be rewarded, and the ones who are babbling for an hour just to get full marks actually put quality into their podcasts.
By my count the maximum you could get for this would be 2.25m as opposed to 3m maximum but takes 1/4 the time to record, but also rewards those who actually try while punishing those who don't.

That does sound very reasonable.
What would be the conditions/grading rubric for the 3 graded categories?

...But that doesn't solve the initial problem of one podcast per week.
If it's implemented it should stay 1 podcast a week. Getting more than that is overkill as far as pay goes. You can make more but should only get pay for one in a case like the idea I posted.

Originality would be related to making your podcast different from other podcasts and keeping your own podcast fresh. This one is basically to keep from getting the same podcasts week after week
Content would be making sure you stay on topic, you have a defined topic you're making the podcast to talk about and are not just making things up on the fly.
Quality would be sound quality, no dead air, an opening (Whether it be music or otherwise) Basically just fine tuning the podcast to sound good.

That's true. If only we could have a hybrid.
Maybe do it GFX style, 4 podcast limit per week that can add up to 1 hour. Grade the podcaster on their overall performance (ie an average of their 4 individual performances) and award the money that way. Cut the $/minute to where it ends up $250K per 15 minutes ($50K per 3 minutes) to get the money still down and you could max out at $2.5M per week if you go the full hour and full points for the 3 $500K grades. That's $1M per week reduction in $ earning and still lets ou post multiple podcasts that sum up to an hour.

I think problem with this is who's actually gonna sit down and listen to 9 hours of podcasts and grade them like that?

They say they listen to them now so it shouldn't be any different, if anything it saves them time
