Because tampering affects the SHL team. This punishment only affects Edmonton, who never had anything to gain from his multi. Like I said, is it a bad thing that he did? Yes. But the punishment shouldn't be harsher because it doesn't actually affect him much. It affects him more if he retires and recreates. Right now, all he does if he earns points is bank them. He doesn't have to really, he's older and about to retire. So earning points doesn't matter to him. The suspension of his player? His stats aren't going to matter that much, he's still top-10 all-time. So that just means Edmonton loses a high contributing player because he wanted a 2nd/3rd pairing defender in the SMJHL that didn't matter to us.
So Edmonton has been fucked over by this. Yousuf isn't getting fucked over by it. By crying for a bigger suspension, you're saying the people who had no hand in this and this didn't help deserve to be punished because they didn't do anything. Which makes no sense.
Also, yes there is a precedent here with Riggsy. And he was fined $5M. I brought it up multiple times. I thought it was automatic, and thus I have no clue why it isn't in there.
