It is with a heavy heart today that I announce my resignation from my position as the Manhattan Rage general manager. When I began to consider writing up this announcement, I was going to attempt to write a media article and make it somewhat flashy and exciting, but I've simply realized it makes more sense to write something true and from my heart.

In what is now somewhere near my 13th or 14th season in the SHL, its time for me to make some changes. As some of you who are close to me may know, I recently graduated from university here in Boston. My intentions were to enjoy my last summer as a young and free adult before becoming a professional. It hit me pretty quickly that as I moved into my professional career, my priorities were all out of whack. And while I don't want to leave Manhattan high and dry, I have to shift and evolve as the world around me does. I need to focus on building a career in my real life, and less on building a championship team here. I've recently accepted a new position at a very large consulting firm here in Boston and I want to make a big splash and accomplish all of the career goals I have set for myself right out of the gate.

While it's sad to be taking such a significant step back on a team that is filled with players and people that I really appreciate, I know that the franchise is healthy and ready for new leadership.

I guess that brings me to the man who will be taking over for me. It's been a pleasure to work with Merica over the last 3 seasons. We put together a group of guys who love to be around one another and the product on the ice has been some of the best the franchise has seen in its history. We've discussed possible candidates to help continue in the direction that Manhattan has headed, but at this time, Merica will be the sole general manager of the Manhattan Rage for the remainder of Season 24.

I just want to close by thanking the head office for being so quick to approve Merica as I tried to get this all completed so quickly in the middle of the season. And while the timing wasn't perfect, its a change for the better in Manhattan for the time being.

I'll be sticking around in whatever capacity I can as I continue to transition into "real life", but a big thanks to everyone else who has helped me along the way. While I may not be completely retiring from the SHL as others have in the last month or two, it's certainly going on the back burner as I write these next chapters of my life.

Good luck Merica, I know you'll continue to push us forward and I expect more success with all that we've built. I'll answer questions here and there if folks have them.
