North Stars Captaincy Announcement
#1

This was decided upon in the team locker room, but it was best to make it public and with the tear the team is on, what better time to point to the leaders who are at the helm of the team.

Toronto is a storied franchise in the SHL and one that has been up and down as the team had a rough start to the season. Many in their early season predictions had Toronto pegged as the last place team in the East, behind the rebuilding Wolfpack and Platoon. With their captain Sawyer and one of their top defensemen in Stinson leaving for different teams, their was a bit of a frenzy. Management felt a push to add some top tier talent to replace them, but their attempts failed and they came up empty handed. Morale was a bit down in the locker room, but members pushed through with positivity and there was still a strong belief that this team was special.

We wanted to keep our leadership group largely the same as the past season, obviously having to tweak it slightly with the loss of Sawyer.

Our first assistant captain is a guy who we traded for the pick to select. It blew our minds when we found out that he'd still be available and if the draft was today, there was no way he'd fall past first overall. He's been a force in our locker room, positively and consistently contributing to discussion and offering to lend a hand whenever needed. He's gone above and beyond and was the driving force between the North Stars rebrand that happened this season. He's representative of the youth movement and future in Toronto and I'm proud to announce that Pierre-Luc Laflamme will be an assistant captian for Season 24.

Our next assistant captain is another North Stars draft pick and another absolute steal for us. I was high on him in our scouting and when he fell to the 3rd round, it was like a match made in heaven. He's quickly cemented his place in the North Stars lineup and as one of the SHL stars, playing a solid two way game. He made a long term commitment to the team with a 4 year deal following his ELC and I'm glad to have him as a core piece. Another positive contributer to the locker room, it's been a pleasure to have him in the organization. Wouldn't dream of seeing him play for another team. Our 2nd assistant captain is none other than S20 draftee Chester Cunningham!

And finally the man who will replace Tom Sawyer as our captain for Season 24. Another North Stars draft pick... you guys starting to see a pattern here? He's closely linked to Cunningham at all times it seems and for good reason as they've both emerged as stars from the Season 20 draft class. I had thought that he'd be gone by 6th overall and should've gotten top 3 consideration, so when he fell to 13th overall it seemed to good to be true. I don't know where the North Stars would be without this guy, between his fantasy draft rankings every year, ability to put together solid line combinations and drafting advice. He's here on a long term contract too and will be a face of the North Stars franchise while it looks for its first cup in history. Without further ado, the Season 24 North Stars captain is...
