He's taken a few minutes out of his busy schedule and answer a few questions for us. Patrik: I'm good, thanks for having me. Dan: That's great to hear. Let's get down to business then. The Jets have been having a great season so far. Only 4 points back of 1st in the West, a position they occupied for awhile to start the season. So the question is, how? What caused the Jets to be so successful, after such a rough season last year? Patrik: I don't think there's any one correct answer to that question. I guess first and foremost is our great coaching staff and incredible front office. Management did what they needed to over the off-season to strengthen the roster and build a winning team without sacrificing from our prospect pool. Then the coaches and trainers took over. Everyone bought into the system and we've been seeing a lot of success as a result of that. The Jets play a structured system, and it seems like our team has finally grown into the framework that was already in place. Us young guys are getting better, we have enough veterans to succeed, and we've got some great chemistry right now. It also helps to have one of the league's best goalies behind you night after night. Dan: You mentioned chemistry just now, and that reminded me of something. Much has been said about the way your lines has been clicking this season. You're one of the Jets leading scorers, while your linemates are 1st and 3rd in goals. What, in your opinion, has been the key to your success as a line? <div align="center"> ![[Image: 166927489_slide.jpg]](http://2.cdn.nhle.com/jets/images/upload/gallery/2013/04/166927489_slide.jpg) </div>Patrik: I think we've just meshed really well on the ice. Every once and awhile you get a couple of players who naturally complement one another, and I think that that's the case here. Last year I learned a lot from playing with Ono, and I think that helped me grow as a player, but I've really clicked with Jamers and Villy. It seems like every time I have the puck, one of them are open for an easy pass. We've always got a good sense of where one another are on the ice, and it helps us make plays, especially on the rush. Having that connection with your linemates and knowing that they'll be able to get in the open and ready for a scoring chance makes all the difference when you're out on the ice. I always thought of myself as more of a goal scorer, but these guys just make it easy to pass. Dan: Speaking of which, when you were in junior you shot about as much as you passed, leading to your fair share of goals. But your scoring seems to have dried up the past two years, while your passing game has really gone to the next level. What happened to cause that? Patrik: I think it's just a result of my growth as a player. I used to try to do a little too much on my own, held onto the puck for too long. The last few years, I've realized that a lot of the time it's safer to make the pass or carry the puck than to try and get a shot off. Sure, it's not as flashy, but it results in a lot less turnovers and a makes for a better defensive game, which has always been my top priority. I expected my playing style to change over time, and I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. Dan: Alright then, our next question is about your future. Do you have any plans for your career a few years down the road? Patrik: That's a good question. Early in my career I had the same goal that I think most young SHL players had: I wanted to be a lifer and a franchise player. To an extent, that's still my goal. But about halfway through my first year in junior, I started having second thoughts. I was considering going journeyman, bouncing around from team to team through free agency. Then I got drafted and things changed again. The Jets made me forget about that. I love playing in Winnipeg, and the city and the team have become my home. Maybe a few years down the road, if some other team can make me feel as at home as Winnipeg does, I'll move, but in the meantime I'm happy where I am and there's nowhere else I'd rather play. Dan: So let's say you did have to move to another team. Where would you want to go? Anywhere you wouldn't want to go? <div align="center"> ![[Image: rumors.gif]](http://hockeytraderumors.com/wp-content/images/rumors.gif) </div>Patrik: I wouldn't want to go to the Calgary Dragons. The rivalry between our teams is too strong and I don't think I'd ever be fully comfortable playing there. It'd just be weird to start playing for a team I've played so hard against. There are one or two other teams that wouldn't be ideal, but I think I could make it work given a bit of time, so I'd be alright going there if I had to. My ideal destinations would be Seattle, Minnesota, or Los Angelas. All of those teams have strong management groups and a solid coaching staff, as well as an environment where I feel I could step in and contribute right away. They have players I'd love to skate alongside and, in the case of Los Angelas, I could walk around in shorts, something I've been dreaming of during winters here in Winnipeg. Nonetheless, I couldn't see myself playing in anything but a Jets jersey any time soon. Dan: I'm sure Jets fans are comforted to hear that, Patrik. Our next few questions are coming from Twitter, so they're a bit simpler. What's the best part of playing in Winnipeg? Patrik: Either the food or the fans. There are a lot of great restaurants in the city, so I always have something good available to eat. The fans show up and pack the seats for every game we play, which is all you can ask for as an SHL player, so that's also a huge benefit to playing in such a big Canadian market. Dan: Okay then. Up next: who is the most annoying member of the WInnipeg Jets? Patrik: Bryce Collins, but only when he's sleeping. Snore's louder than anyone I've heard before. When he's awake he's a great guy, though. Dan: Time now for our last question. After Winnipeg's playoff performance two seasons ago, do you still consider yourself a "clutch" player? Patrik: I would have to say yes. Although that first round exit was disappointing, I think my junior performance in S20 proves I can perform when it's all on the line. In my opinion, that was one of the best performances of my career, and I hope to return to that level of play with the Jets in many playoffs to come. I don't think you would be a good fit in Seattle because Sean Leonidas is playing 3rd line minutes already and if you go you would play the same minutes as him. It would be better for you to go to a place where you can get the minutes you want.

But I think Winter, CoC, and King would be 1st line, Leo, Å atan, and Kylrad 2nd, and Bursyuk, Brojled, and Flamel 3rd line. Something like that.
