Are True Rookies Going Extinct?

No one wants to disassemble your awesome team JT, but if you have 600-800 TPE-players stuck on your 4th line then you can afford to give them up, just like Seattle can, and Texas and whoever else around the league has great depth at the moment.

And don't hype your players up too much, Sullivan is an inactive who has no plans to return so while he is a good player, it's not like there is a lot of potential there despite his relatively young age, and we both know what the deal is with Reinhart. If you lost these two players it really wouldn't be that big a deal as you make it sound.

Im not saying its a big deal, I am saying I am GOOD if I have to lose those guys.

Im not good if its more than that because then it really hurts my team especially with Salmon potentially leaving.

I prefer your idea as well, but if the TPE cap is the only way to get expansion to happen I think that might be a good idea.
Yeah, that way teams might have to let go of an inctive, but most likely not be screwed by losing two. It is as good of a compromise as there might be.

Pretty sure that's not the only way expansion would happen Smile.

Not out to screw over anyone. I'm certainly not celebrating losing teammates in Hamilton. But why wouldn't we want 14 competitive teams and make GMing all the more important? Why do you insist on condemning these new teams to an unnecessary hardship? Why shouldn't they get a bit of a leg up compared to previous expasions, so they don't face the same problems struggling teams in the past had to face? Why should they have to struggle for 4 years when it's not at all necessary? Most every team has franchise players playing on the 2nd or 3rd line.

I'm not advocating gifting them a cup contender. But I'm not sure why people seem to think new teams need to be full of 200 TPE inactives and earn their way to the top no matter how many years it takes. We have plenty of talent in this league. We can spread it around a bit more and make a better SHL. The games will still matter and I think parity will be the same as it is now. We can create thriving franchises not perpetual cellar dwellers.

I don't think it should be all 200 tpe inactives either. I think it should be 15 protected or each team loses two 450+ players or something like that.

Why not just have every team make

1 LW, 1C, 1RW, 1D and 1G available and call it a day.

Again, just throwing out Seattle as an example. That leaves:

LW - Manning (812)
C - Miller (496)
RW - Urbowicz (582)
D - Parker (590)
G - Osgoode (423)

So pretty much the same as the 15 players but now we have to lose a 800+ TPE, and unlike Minnesota that isn't our lowest TPE player

I should say, it seems to be the least painless way for expansion to happen. At least, right now it seems like the path of least resistance.

So excited for this to happen. I also feel that gms could be able to know who your favorite players are as well as who's active. That way although your team may "suffer," your experience of this league as a whole truly doesn't change

One thing that everyone can agree on, is that expansion is going to add a TON of exictment and activity for the league!

You win some, you lose some, that's how things go in these leagues. You only got Sullivan in the first place because you won the lottery which was nothing but pure luck. And even then you picked a player who later went inactive, not saying that it was a bad pick or anything but it doesn't exactly need a genius GM to do that so why should the league have to admire your awesome work and protect you? You got the player through luck, now you might lose him for the betterment of the league, there's nothing wrong with that.

Why not do a few mock drafts to see how each idea would pan out?

You are going for a compromise too early, classic rookie mistake :D

First of all, I never picked him. Should really pay attention. Also you really aren't reading.

I AM FINE WITH LOSING SULLIVAN.
