What has been the biggest game so far for each team in the playoffs?

<u><b><div align="center"> Brian Morley vs. Riko Muerto </div></b></u>

The Los Angeles Panthers and the Hamilton Steelhawks are set to do battle for the coveted Challenge Cup. A big part of both these teams are their respective top line right wingers. The Panthers, Brian Morley, and the Steelhawks, Riko Muerto, have both been huge factors in their teams' success so far this post-season.

Brian Morley, the Panthers' top sniper, has enjoyed a fairly success post-season so far. Playing on a line with Nicholas Pederson has given the Panthers a deadly one-two punch. Morley is a big part of this one-two punch. After enjoying a very successful regular season that saw Morley lead the Panthers in points and lead the entire league in goals scored, Morley has helped lead the Panthers to the Challenge Cup Finals. In 11 games so far this postseason, Morley currently sits 2nd on his team in goals and points with 5 and 13 respectfully. Morley has slightly struggled so far on defence as he has only posted a +1, however his physical presence is unquestioned as he has recorded 35 hits in only 11 games.

Riko Muerto, unlike Morley, isn't an entirely offensive minded player. Muerto excels at playing a two-way game for the Hamilton Steelhawks. Muerto enjoyed a good regular season which saw him finish 2nd in the team scoring with 44 points and scored a very respectable 22 goals in 52 games. In the S24 playoffs, Muerto has continued his regular season success in the playoffs. In only 11 games, Muerto has put netted 10 goals and 9 assists for a combined 19 points. Muerto's 10 goals makes him the current playoff goal scorer leader as well Muerto is currently the leader in points per 20 minutes in the playoffs.

Who will be more vital to the team success in the playoff finals? Many would say Muerto when comparing these two, however I will go with Morley. Morley is the type of player that could break out at any moment and completely change a game on his own. I predict that exactly this will happen and you will see Morley steal at least one game away from the Steelhawks and ultimately lead the Panthers to the Challenge Cup Championship.

<b><u><div align="center"> Rider Clitsome Interview - Hamilton Steelhawks</div></u></b>

Interview Both teams have shown that they have what it takes to make it to the Finals, now they have to prove which team is better and take the championship. Why do you believe the Hamilton Steelhawks are the better team and will win the Challenge cup?

Code:
Schultzy:
I think Hamilton is a team that has found chemistry throughout their lineup. Multiple winning streaks throughout the season prove that Hamilton just has the tools and ability to find a way to win each night, which is what it takes to win in the playoffs. Hamilton has tremendous talent on the top line so it's easy to overlook a guy like Franklin Trey on the second line or Arthur Grosberg on the third. Both are capable of being top line players on any other team. Its this depth that's going to get Hamilton on the scorerboard against Weekes.

Interview Who do you believe have been the Steelhawks playoff MVP up to this point? Have their been any disappointments or players that will need to step up their game since you are now in the finals. Finally, who do you believe the team's unsung hero in the playoffs have been?

Code:
Schultzy:
Playoff MVP to this point has to be Simons. Everything revolves around him right now. Muerto is an elite force but Simons is the catalyst to his success. He's a future hall of fame player.

Unsung hero has to go to the defense as a unit. Tanner and the offense get the glory but the defense has been largely overlooked in the press but come up huge for the Hawks so far.

Interview The Los Angeles Panthers are a tough team with many big time players filling out their roster. Who do you think poses the biggest threat against you guys? How do you plan to stop him/her?

Code:
Schultzy:
The absolute biggest problem for Hamilton is getting pucks past Weekes. But Hamilton has scoring ability up and down the roster to try and attack Weekes with. Puck possession is going to be key. Hamilton has to stay on the attack and keep looking for quality vhances. This is going to be a tough series but I think Hamilton is less reliant on a single player than LA is reliant on Weekes being perfect every game.

<s>Task 5(3 TPE) - Biggest Game </s>
[261 words]

The Montreal Impact biggest game was game 4 against the St. Louis Scarecrows. They came back from being 3 goals down to win the game 6 to 5 after pulling their goalie none the less. This gave them not only advancement to round 2 but the momentum of a sweep to go on and beat the favorited Detroit Falcons who had the most points in the season. Using a younger team than the seasoned St. Louis Scarecrows who started the season undefeated for more than 10 games and having a terrible season record against them surprised the league. Currently they are down by one game to the Whalers but look for them to turn it around and give their fans what they have been wanting for years!

Game 6 Vancouver Whalers versus the Prince George Firebirds was a blow out. After having a terrible, possibly the worst season of all time for the Whalers they managed to advance. They came out swinging putting 4 into the back of the net early on and it was all down hill from their. Having beaten a team in 6 instead of 7 games, allowed them to have the strength to beat the Knights for a second season in a row for the Division Finals. They will need to dig deep to beat the hungry Montreal Impact but should have the legs to out manuever them having blasted past the 1st overall in the SHL draft Randy Randleman in 5 games. Look for McZ to continue his record breaking play off goal count this year.

<s>Written/GFX 6 (3 TPE) - Showdown</s>
[257 words]

VLAD McZehrl of the Vancouver Whalers versus Evandrus Jesster of the Montreal Impact are the two leading their teams in goal scoring. VLAD McZehrl is the most vital peice to his teams success carrying them in goals. Last season his team fell short against the Detroit Falcons and he will need to get it going early as their star.

A side by side comparison of Vlad McZ and Evandrus Jesster shows how the veternan skater Vlad McZ outplays the young rookie. Having both played 11 games previous to the finals, Vlad McZ out produces with an average of 3 extra minutes a game. Vlad McZ has 9 goals while Evandrus Jesster has 9 points total. Evandrus Jesster Having 4 goals and 5 Assists cannot compare again Vlad McZ's 15 points, 8 being assists. Evandrus Jesster does have a stronger Power play having 5 points to Vlad McZ's 3. Both have been knocked of the puck several times with over 18 hits taken but Vlad McZ was able to dish out 22 of his own to the opposing force.

Vlad McZ is a key point in the top line being the strongest on the puck and putting pucks into the back o fthe net while Evandrus Jesster plays with weaker newer players. Vlad McZ does not have a bruiser like Evandrus Jesster's Right Wing partner Buster Killington. Buster Killington plays his role well brusing the opposition and clearing a path for Evandrus Jesster. Look for Vlad McZ to be knocked down a few times against this top line.

Task 5

For Hamilton the biggest game in the playoffs was the game five against Minnesota without a doubt. Although a close second would be how they promptly closed the door on a struggling Manhattan, who was favored alongside Minnesota to be the big 1-2 punch in the east. But it was game five when Hamilton made the statement to the rest of the SHL: You can't beat us. Taking down BOTH big names in the eastern conference, they look to easily be the favorites of the SHL S24 Finals. There was almost no doubt after beating Manhattan that Hamilton couldn't beat Minnesota, and it showed as the Chiefs were only able to squander up one win against them. Tanner and company easily stroll their way into the SHL finals.

For LA the biggest game was Game 7 against the mighty Renegades. Both teams have had a a good history of being in the finals for the past 4 seasons, and they looked to continue their runs this season. Game 7 was a close back and forth game, with multiple lead changes. But LA scored two back to back goals to both tie and put them ahead of Texas with less than 5 minutes remaining. Weekes closed the door the rest of the game and the ticket to the big game was set. Both goaltenders actually played pretty poor compared to the rest of their season, but Weekes was able to hang on just a bit longer than FourFour to push them to the promised land.

Task 5 -
The LA Panthers have had two very different series so far this playoff run. Facing the Calgary Dragons in the first round, the Panthers easily handled the challenge finishing off the series 4 games to 0. With a little layoff before the series with Texas, the Panthers found themselves a little slow out of the gate, falling down 2 games to 0 to the Renegades. Which led to the turning point and the biggest game so far for the Panthers. Going down 3 games to 0 in a conference final to a very skilled team like Texas, would have been a disaster. Game 3 in Texas, facing a rowdy crowd was a must win. Brian Morley got the Panthers on the board early in the first, only to see the lead disappear 5 minutes later, before Nicholas Pedersen scored the game winning goal late in the 1st Period. Jackson Weekes took care of the rest, as the Panthers added two more goals for a important 4-1 win, that set in motion the Panther express, winning 3 of the last 4 games to win the series in 7 games.

The Hamilton Steelhawks faced a very tough first round series with the S22 Champion Manhattan Rage, dispatching them in 6 hard fought games. The most important game of the playoffs took place in that first series, after winning the first game in a shootout 7-5, the Steelhawks dropped the next two games. Game 4 decided the fate of the Steelhawks season, lose and they are in a 3-1 hole that would have been very tough to get out of, win and the series is back at square one. The Steelhawks, playing in front of a raucous away crowd, got off to a quick start going up 1-0 3 minutes into the game, only to have Manhattan tie it up on the powerplay before the end of the 1st. That is when the wheels almost fell off the bus on the season. Manhattan dominated the 2nd period, scoring 2 goals, then tallied another early in the 3rd to give the Rage a 4-1 lead. Coaches for Hamilton called a TO, and got their focus under control. The turnaround over the next 17 minutes was astounding, which started 13 seconds after giving up the 4th goal. Griffin Simons put his team on his back and scored 2 goals and assisted on another to get the game to OT, then took a pass from Bubba Nuck on the powerplay and found the back of the net to win the game, tie the series at 2, and change the course of their playoff run forever.

Task 6 -
There is one reason why the Panthers are in the position they are at, winner of the President’s Trophy, Western Conference Champions, playing Hamilton for a chance to hoist the Champions Cup, and that is Jackson Weekes. We all knew that Weekes was on the verge of becoming a star, but S24 has solidified Weekes as one of the best. During the regular season, Weekes, set a regular season record with a .926 save percentage, on his way to winning 30 games, losing 16 games, with 7 over those coming in overtime, to go along with a 1.94 goals against average and 7 shutouts. When you are giving up less than 2 goals a game for 46 contests, your team is in a position to win most of those games. This success has continued to the post season. Weekes has gone 8 and 3 with a .926 save %, 1.91 goals against average and 2 shutouts.

Jacob Tanner’s regular season wasn’t as spectacular as the Steelhawks rely on their offense to outscore their opponents, with 27 wins, 19 losses, giving up 2.63 Goals a game, while having a sub .900 save percentage at .899, and 2 shutouts. Tanner had very good numbers for the season, but not spectacular like Jackson Weekes. In the playoffs, Tanner picked up his game, going the identical 8-3 as Weekes, improving to 2.49 goals against, .915 save percentage, and one shutout.

The playoffs are all about how well your goaltender is playing, and Jackson Weekes is on another level right now. This is why the Panthers are going to win the series, and why Weekes is the most vital to the team’s success.

Task 5(3 TPE) - Biggest Game -
What has been the biggest game so far for each team in the playoffs? 250 words min.

Game 4, biggest game yet
The biggest game so far in the playoffs for both teams is Game 4 of the Challenge Cup Finals which has yet to be played. Hamilton has won 2 of the 3 games so far in the Cup, however, both of them were in overtime. If they can steal game 4 and go up 3-1 against the Panthers, you have to think that the series is all but over. Hamilton would only have to win 1 out of the next 3 games and it is hard to think that they would lose 3 in a row. If the Panthers win, it is a completely new series tied at 2-2 and then it is the best out of 3 game series. Anything can happen there.

The key to winning game 4 for the Panthers is top stop the two headed monster of Simons and Muerto. These guys have accounted for about 75% of the goals in the playoffs as both guys are averaging over a point a game, Simons almost near 2 points a game going into the finals. You need to know where they are on the ice at all times. For the Steelhawks to take Game 4, you just have to get the game to overtime. No, you just need to get those two guys going. The Panthers are a very balanced offensive team coming at you with Nicholas Pedersen, Brian Morely, and Adrian Thomaz, so it'll be tough to just focus on one guy there. You really just need to get those two big guns going and this series should be all but over.

Tanner vs Weekes - The Showdown

One of the big things that both these teams have in common in which propelled them to get to this spot in the SHL playoffs is the goaltending of Jakub Tanner and Jackson Weekes. Weekes is having a record-breaking season with the Los Angeles Panthers this season. Weekes ended with a 30-9-7 record with a .926 save percentage as well as a fantastic 1.94 GAA. This guy also notched 7 shutouts which is absolutely incredible. Weekes is definitely a huge reason why the Panthers are playing for the Cup and have a great shot of getting it. The hot goalie usually is the one that lifts the Cup, but we shall see if this is how the series will go.

On the other side of the ice, there is Jakub Tanner of the Hamilton Steelhawks. Tanner too had a fantastic season between the pipes with a 27-14-5 record, .899 save percentage as well as 2.63 GAA. With the Steelhawks only having 2 players over 40 points this season, Simons and Muerto, it was largely known that the defense and goaltending would need to be the combination to win games. Hamilton would be winning a lot of low scoring affairs and that was just the key to success. Tanner played right into that, having one of the best seasons of his life.

Both these guys are going to have to elevate their game to the next level as they go into a finals which is really about the goalies. All eyes will be on both of these guys as everyone expects a low scoring series. This series could go down to a bad bounce or a bad goal and both of these goalies hope that it isn't them giving it up.

Interview with Vancouver Whalers goalie, Erik Lundqvist
1. Must be a crazy thing when both your SHL and SMJHL teams are in their respective finals, what is going through your head right now? Must be crazy to try to keep track of both games.
Hahaha yeah, it's been a little hectic. Obviously my mind and focus is primarily on the Whalers and the SMJHL but knowing how well the Panthers are doing and that they too are fighting for a Cup is great. If anything, this has given me more of a reason to fight for the Four Star Cup and prove to the Panthers that I'm worthy of one day playing with them on the way to a Challenge Cup!

2. Game 1 was a real tough game for you guys, losing in overtime. What do you think you guys need to do different to come out on top of a tough Impact team?
Yeah, that was a tough game all around and I have to give credit to the Impact they played a hell of a game. It was a lot closer than a lot of people made it out to be though. We were in it the entire time and even led, but as we have all season we've struggled defensively and unfortunately gave up too many chances. I've been saying it since day 1, we need to button down defensively and we can come away with the Four Star Cup.

3. What do you feel like was the turning point for yourself as well as your team this year which made you guys stronger and be a cup contending team (Talking about the Whalers)
Right around the end of the season, when we started going on a winning streak. Everyone started getting hot, we all gelled properly for the first time in a long time. I started playing much better and stealing games when needed. Everything just seemed to click at the end of the season and we've carried that momentum into the playoffs.

Task 5(3 TPE) - Biggest Game

250 words min.

The biggest game for the Whalers so far was our win against the Knights that sent us into the final against the :impact:. We won the series in just five games, and it showed us and the world that we’re not to be taken lightly, and that we have a chance in these playoffs. We’re hungry, we’re clicking at the right time, and that’s all that matters. We’re winning, and we won big. Our last game we won six to three, showing that we might not have the deepest defense, but we’ve got a great goalie, and a ton of scoring to back it up. Our Captain VLAD McZ stepped up and took the lead scoring and assisting, and even our inactive players that worked hard for a little bit showed up and helped us win. The whole series had shown that we’re a team, and we play as a team. Everyone contributes, whether it’s the rookies who are taking a huge role on this team, or the veterans that have mentored the rookies to make them what they are today, and putting up goals and assists on their own. Lundqvist really helped bail out the team and had an .857 save percentage, and made sure that we were headed to the Championship series.

The biggest game for the :impact: was their three to two game 6 win against the Falcons They were on their heels and ready to be eliminated, but didn’t give up. The game six win gave them momentum, and the confidence that they could win the series in seven games. The players they needed to show up did, and they managed to extend, and later take the series.

The biggest match-up that anyone will be talking about for the SMJHL Championship is between Erik Lunqvist of the Vancover Whalers, and Earnest Ciarelli for the Montreal Impact.

Lundqvist was shaky during the regular season, finishing at the bottom of the league in save percentage, with a .876. He also had the worst GAA with a 3.17. In the 39 games played, he went 16-20-3.

On the other side of the ice, Ciarelli was second for save percentage with a .885, second in GAA with a 2.86, and went 24-17-2 in the 47 games that he started.
So far in the playoffs, Lunqvist hasn’t been phenomenal, but has done great when he’s needed to. He’s sitting at an 85.4% save percentage, a 3 GAA, and has gone 8-3.

Ciarelli on the other side has gone 7-3, putting up an 87.6% save percentage, and a 2.99 GAA.
These goalies are super close in their statistics, but it’s really going to hinge on these to players to change the outcome of this series. Each goalie knows that they can step it up, and with Vancouver’s lack of depth on defense, Lundqvist is going to be needed even more than ever before to make sure his team can win these games. Vancouver definitely scores more goals than the opposition, so they need Lunqvist to be there if they can’t light up the scoreboard.

This Championship series can be won by anyone, but it really depends on which goalie can stand on their head more, and bail their team out if the need arises.

[b]Why do you think your team has made it this far?
We've gotten hot exactly when we needed to. A lot of people took our regular season record and believed that that's the team they were going to face, obviously that hasn't been the case as we've managed to make it to the Four Star Cup Final. Actually, rather than getting hot I think I would say that we came into our own and showed that this is the kind of team that we really are.

What will it take for you to win the Championship?
We need to button down defensively, we've always struggled on defense but this time around it won't be easy to get as many goals as we do to make up for that lack of defense. We need to continue to play as a team though, it's the same thing we've been doing all throughout but we need to continue that.

Do you think it's the players or the GMs that made this team work?
I think it's both, the players are obviously the ones improving on and off the ice and they're the ones going out there night in and night out. But the GMs have worked to put together the team as well as worked on finding the right combinations. I do have to give the majority of the credit to the team though, we've worked hard and kept at it and it's paying off.[/b]

The biggest game for the LA Panthers would have to be the game seven game verus the Texas Renegades. The first reason for this is because it was the game SEVEN game of the conference finals. Everyone fights for a chance to make it to the cup finals, so when you are one game away from making that dream happy, it is obviously an important game. Now once the puck was dropped, the LA Panthers had to show determination to get back into the game after going down 1-0 nothing, LA then tied it 1-1. The Renegades would then scoring again taking their second lead of the game. The panthers were once again able to tie the game 2-2. But the game did not seem that even, with Jackson weekes playing like an MVP, like he has all season. With the confidence having Jackson Weekes behind them, the Panthers would score the next 3 goals to take the game. But going down twice in an elimination game is something no team wants to do, but the Panthers were able to fight back.

The biggest game for Hamilton would have to be, game five of the eastern conference finals. In the first three games of the series Hamilton went up 3-0 in the series, but game four saw minny take a game back. With Minny having momentum it is important that Hamilton went into the game, and played a strong game and finish the series in 5 games. If Hamilton was to lose that game, I think it would have been highly likely that Minny pulled the reverse sweep.

TASK Seven - DONE (Interview With Pandar, MTL Impact )
1. What was it like making the finals for the first time?
Making the finals was incredible. Not only did we make the finals for the first time, but this was actually the first time that I'd been on a team to win a postseason series. So for us to win both series in the Eastern Conference was pretty special.

2. Do you believe playing in the finals have made you a better player?
I definitely think it will make me a better player for next season. Being under the pressure of playing in the 4 star cup finals has to be at least somewhat similar to a regular season game in the SHL, right?

3. Best memory from the playoffs?
My best memory from the playoffs has to be our game 4 win against the Crows. That 5 goal 3rd period to come back and win was like nothing I'd ever experienced before. Magical is about the only word that comes close to describing the feeling.

Task 5(3 TPE) - Biggest Game

Well for the Vancouver Whalers, the biggest game was game 1 against the Firebirds actually. The Whalers were coming in and most expected them to be kicked out in the first round by the Firebird squad. However with the last regular season game ending up with some players getting 6 points, the Whalers would have to win to gain momentum and they did as they scored the first goal in the game. Although they gave up the lead shortly after and had to make a comeback, it gave the Whalers the confidence to continue on and maybe get to the finals, and here they are now

Now for L'Impact

The Impact cruised their way through the first round after they swept the Scarecrows but had some trouble in the East with the Falcons, the biggest game for them was the game 7 upset with the Falcons expected to win. The game was close the whole way through as Montreal struck first but Detroit came back quick with 2 quick goals. 2nd Period ended up the same as the 1st as both teams scored a goal. But the 3rd was the exciting finish, Montreal once again scored another goal and so did Detroit but soon after, Montreal were able to gain the lead with 2 goals. Detroit continued the pressure but Buster Killington in this playoff series was the hero as he scored the final goal that layed the Falcons out to rest. Ernest made some key saves late in the game and the Impact just nudged their way into the Eastern Finals to make a great Canadian Finals

1. How does it feel to be playing for the four star cup?
Fantastic. Amazing. Tremendous. I could keep going but my vocabulary is fairly limited, and I don't want to make a fool out of myself. It's even more so fantastic considering that we had our chance at the Cup last season, but didn't win it. It's amazing considering how much we struggled during the regular season and how often people doubted us from beginning to end. It's tremendous because even I didn't think we would get here like we did.

2. Do you feel you have contributed to the teams success this post season?
I hope so, at least I hope I don't get in trouble for saying that I helped contribute to the success and not the losses...not going to lie, I haven't been the most fantastic in net but I feel like I've been able to pitch in when I can and steal a few games here and there.

3. Do you think you and the whalers are going all the way and winning the four star cup?
Had you asked me halfway through the season, I probably would've given you the same answer I'm about to because we're all very unoriginal around here. I think anything is possible, and your goal every season is to win the Cup. Doesn't matter if you owned or got owned in the regular season, what matters is what you do when you get to the playoffs.

Task 5(3 TPE) - Biggest Game

250 words min.

What has been the biggest game so far for each team in the playoffs?

The biggest game for the LA Panthers was easily game 7 of the Western Conference finals vs the Texas Renegades. The entire season came down to a single game to decide which team would go to the Challenge Cup finals. The Panthers managed a 4-3 win on the back of superstar Brian Morley who got 1st star for his efforts. Morley finished the game with a goal and 2 assists and seemed to control the game every time he was on the ice. The Renegades had no answer for him and despite all star goaltender Jordin FourFour's efforts they couldn't stop the Panthers.

The Steelhawks biggest game was vs the Manhattan Rage in game 6 of the first round. The Rage are a powerhouse team and the Steelhawks came out to show that they belonged in the elite category as well. Jakob Tanner played incredibly well and backstopped the Steelhawks to a 3-1 victory over the Rage. This victory proved to everyone that the Steelhawks were for real and needed to be taken seriously in the SHL playoffs. With the defeat of a normally dominant Manhattan Rage team the Hamilton Steelhawks put every team in teh SHL on red alert and then proceeded to crush anyone that stood in their way of the Challenge Cup. They now look at their biggest challenge yet in the LA Panthers but I think the Steelhawks will continue to ride the wave of confidence and run through the Panthers just like they have done to everyone else so far.

Written - Conduct an interview of at least three questions with a member of any team in the finals, standard will be two points, the third point will be for cross league interviews (SHL interviewing a junior and vice versa)

I have with me Patrick Brumm of the Hamilton Steelhawks,
Interview
Brumm, you were called up just in time for the Steelhawks to make the Challenge Cup finals, what was the locker room like for a new player like you?
They were very welcoming and made me feel like part of the team right away. Muerto insisted my stall was right beside his. When I showed up he took me on a tour of the arena and introduced me to all of the staff. It's amazing how different it is compared to the SMJHL, there is more of everything. All the equipment guys, trainers, and others I don't even remember the job titles of. The last guy I met was the most important though. His name is Scottie, but they just call him "Jets" because of the magic he does with everyone's skates. He talked to me for 5 minutes about how I play and then took my skates and said I could have them back for practice in the morning. I was worried, but when I stepped on the ice it was like I had the perfect pair of skates for me. Everything about them was right, I don't think I have ever skated as well as I did at that practice and it was because of him.

Interview
You recently got your first SHL point with an assist in the Challenge Cup finals, what did it feel like?
I thought it would feel better but the truth is I didn't do much. Jānis Krūmiņš did most of the work to set up Vuro Vlaters. I was on the point and I managed to stop the clearing attempt from the Panthers. I actually wanted to dump it back into the corner but when I saw two Panthers jerseys down there I ditched that idea and instead made the easy dish off to Krūmiņš. That was when it got pretty, Krūmiņš toe dragged a Panthers defender and then put the puck through another defenders feet to get it to Vlaters for the goal. It was cool and all to get my first point but I will be happier when I actually do something worthwhile to get one.

Interview
Do you have any regrets about your SMJHL career?
I wanted that Four Star cup badly. I thought this would be our year with a fresh start in Prince George but it just didn't happen. Everything looked so good to start the season it seemed like it was going to be destiny, but I guess that is how it goes sometimes in the SMJHL. We ran into a hot Whalers team who now is 1 game away from winning the whole thing. Good for them, but I am definitely bitter about that. With Kyle Prince playing lights out behind us and Myself and Shea on the blue line I didn't think anyone could stop us. I learned a valuable lesson though, now that I am not in the SMJHL anymore I have learned that I really have to embrace every opporunityu I get and make the most of it. Because that is it for me, no more SMJHL hockey, and I truly do miss it. Some of the friends I made there will last for life and some of the times I had were some of the best I have ever had.

Interview
Thanks for your time Patrick, good luck in game 7

Task 5(3 TPE) - Biggest Game

The Biggest game for the Whalers was Game 6 of the Prince George Firebirds series. Without that win, Prince George would push it to a game 7 and who knows what would happen in a game 7? For all we know, game 7 could have been a blow out with Prince George Firebirds winning the game 4-0. Luckily Jack Durden scored first giving the Whalers the lead, In the 2nd Period, the Whalers offense exploded and gave them a 4-0 lead. Even though PGF came back and scored 2 goals late in the game, it not only took them to the 2nd round but gave them hope to keep on fighting till the finals.

Montreal had an easy series in the 1st round but I think that game 1 was actually the biggest game. Many Impact members thought that they were in for a 6 game series but non expected they might take game 1. So when they did against the self proclaimed "Best Team In the East" lost, they lost confidence while Montreal gained momentum and won the series. The game ended up with a 3-0 result and I think that when the high offence, no defence scarecrows were shut out, that is when they lost the series.

These were the 2 biggest games for the Whalers and the Impact, my choices revolve around the fact that without these wins, the Whalers and Impact would lose momentum and have won in the 1st round instead of facing each other in the finals.

Kevin "Juice" Bieksa
1) How big of a role do you think your player has taken for the Whalers to reach the finals?
I think a pretty big role if I do say so myself. Before the finals started I had 15 points in 11 games so I think I took a pretty big role. My defence could have been better but well we weren't that great of a defensive team to begin with.

2) What would you say were the decisive factors for the big turnaround for the Whalers? In other words, what do you think turned you guys from regular season chumps to playoff contenders?
Better chemistry as we got different team mates for a while, I admit I was pretty mad that I was moved to the 2nd line when I heard about it, but I'm fine now, its working out and I'm scoring more goals and assists then i think I would have if I was still on the 1st line. Besides me, our defence and PK line ups changed finally and that was a big help.

3) What is your favourite aspect about the SMJHL?
Rivalries, there is a lot of history and tension between some members and a lot of us like to have fun. In the SHL well. there are those guys that just don't take the SHL for fun and treat it like business, in the SMJHL, if you act like that, you don't get very far up in the TPE area.
