NABA Finally, A Baseball Sim League!

We're currently hashing out some action plans. Two thirds of us are going to have a LOT less time here in the coming weeks/months. As the main problem with the original NABA launch was that it was done rather hastily, we greatly appreciate your patience. :D

Keep it small, set the foundation and irony it all out smoothly before we go big time recruiting. We need the heads of each job in place and dedicated before we even open the doors.

Just open it back up so we can look around again and give you all the input we need to succeed.

I found that it rises faster than everyone else but levels out around midway through my first season

Then I was left with a subpar fastball and a way underdeveloped setup pitch, so once the hitters had developed decently they teed off

Wasn't the knuckle ball - it was any slow pitch.

Apparently no one thought about how velocity works. Your stuff rating is based on your skill with a pitch and your velocity. So you have two paths, fast pitches with lots of velocity or slow pitches without.

My player was the Cy Young and he didn't throw a knuckleball, he threw a changeup. I left velocity alone, cranked my pitch skill and ta-da!

Adding velocity makes slow pitches worse and fast pitches better. Most people chose a fastball and probably one other fast pitch and they all sucked until they got their velocity super high, which was incredibly inefficient with the update scale.

The only trick was to use slow pitches and never touch velocity.

That's not how the sim works. Your velocity rating only effects your fastballs. The issue was people were essentially building great relievers but were not building capable starters, because their repertoires sucked (due to their heavy reliance on velocity which as you noted was a bitch to build up).

I know very well how the sim works. Velocity directly affects your stuff rating...

Open up OOTP, give yourself a 0 in everything except a curveball, write down your stuff rating and then crank your velocity and tell me it doesn't change..

This is why I played as a fielder and not a pitcher.
