Everyone goes through the draft time to be different and take another approach to entering the SHL

as well in 2.5 years on the site I've never actually tested FA so now I can have that chance Smile

Also to whoever is calling me immature / dumb this doesn't make a difference hahah I'm not gonna cost a team a pick.

Didn't know trying to do something different made me immature HA

Leading off with the rationale or possibly consulting with interested SHL teams instead of announcing "don't bother drafting me" to everyone might have put it in a more "mature" light.

What's the harm in signing one year to someone who drafts you / wants your player, then testing free agency?

Because he'd be a RFA thus not actually being able to test free agency

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

Then he could sign another 1 year deal, theoretically.

To play devil's advocate, there are plenty of potential opportunities for a new player to test free agency. The draft seems like the worst possible time to do so.

Alonzo Garbanzo Final Tallies (Among Defensemen):
2nd in Goals (208), All-Time Assists Leader (765)*, All-Time Points Leader (973), 3rd in Hits (2587), All-Time Blocked Shots Leader (1882)*
*All-Time Leader Among All Skaters

As of right now, no SHL teams have contacted me so I don't really have anyone to consult with Smile) but yeah a rationale would have been good to lead off the post with but whatever not really a big deal.

RFA is a big deal, not gonna get drafted and then leave after 1 ssn as an RFA. Nobody has done this I don't think so I'm gonna try it Smile)

Those potential opportunities are also 3 seasons later. The draft is a perfect place to do it, I have no former team, and my rights don't lie anywhere. I have complete freedom of where to go without anything pulling me back to my prior destination.

Also, I do understand that I probably will be taken in the later rounds by one of the teams despite this announcement because that's just how the SHL operates

So if you get drafted and don't sign you're OK with not playing all season?

Would not be my first option.. however, if it comes down to that yes
