KFAN Radio continues its analysis of the impending S26 Draft

According to our scouts, there are over 30 players in this draft class who are active and have updated within the last 2 weeks. These players are noted with a *. Players without a * have high TPE counts but have not updated recently - with the excitement of the draft approaching, it is always possible they may pull themselves out of their slumber and look to re-establish themselves as viable draft candidates. With still 2 weeks to go until the draft, it is reasonable to assume the TPE numbers will rise and there will be some shifts, but this is as up-to-date as it gets, folks!

Players are ordered by TPE count, which may or may not reflect the draft rankings the SHL scouts use. Some teams may have positional needs they wish to fill rather than taking the BAP.

This analysis predicts that there will be almost 3 rounds worth of potential SHL players.

99% of SHL GMs aren't going to look at your in-sim performance when scouting (I say 99% because I know if I don't someone will come in here and say "I do that!")

They're going to be looking mostly at TPE levels, level of activity, what your builds look like, as well as less quantifiable things like your personality.

The sim's so random, anything can happen, really. I mean, I was taken 2nd overall by the Wolfpack in the last draft, and this season I'm probaby the worst defender in the SMJHL in my own end.

. . .and in the opponent's end.

Very few GMs put a lot of stock into your stats, because they also reflect the team around you and your line chemistry, not just your own player's draft viability. It should matter somewhat, because it does show the relative success of your build and the type of player you are : for example, MacGregor didn't get many points but his stats show he is an undisciplined goon, so he is a beauty regardless.

TPE count is a measure of how dedicated you are to improving your player, so it makes sense to give it consideration. And this article is simplified in that I only ordered the players based on TPE. But you're right, it's not the sole measure of a player's worth.

GMs also will take into account:

Activity: do you post or log in daily, weekly, once in a while, now and then, etc.
Personality : Do you seem like a fun person who would mesh well with the team LR?
Positional Need: Goalies are a prime example, they often fall in the draft because it is a lesser priority for a lot of teams
Bank Account : Seems silly, but a player with a big bank may be able to sign for less contract, saving the team salary cap $$
Friendship: sometimes a GM will select a player they are personally comfortable with and get along with, even if they aren't the 'Best' player available (aka. recreate syndrome)
Scouting: Your own send-down teammates are likely reporting to their GMs on their opinions of you and your player!
