The Definitive Top 10 Rookies List

<div align="center">THE DEFINITIVE TOP 10 ROOKIES LIST</div>

The previous SMJHL season saw the emergence of more than a few extremely talented rookies. From Vancouver to Halifax, these players shone like beacons of hope for the entire SHL. One of the most talent rich classes is fast approaching the Season 26 SHL Draft and we’re soon to find out the truth of just who is the finest rookie in the league. Who will be chosen first overall? Who will follow? It’s impossible to predict we don’t even know who currently owns the first overall pick yet!

But we can take a guess. And, in doing so, we will list the ten very best rookies in the SMJHL today. Some will make the list, others won’t, but all can be proud of contributing to one of the finest draft classes the SHL will ever see.

Now let’s begin…

#10 Eoin MacGregor
Prince George Firebirds - 279 TPE
</div>
A standout player on the Prince George Firebirds roster who put up some fine defensive numbers, including an incredible 107 hits that was, by some distance, the most out of all the Firebirds – including such established talent as Cynthia Taylor, Luke Fleming, and ZzJack’s Robot Garcia. To beat such luminaries to this distinction has proven just how dominant MacGregor’s physical presence over opposition can be. Truly, this is a defensive prodigy to look out for.

#9 Eoin MacGregor
Prince George Firebirds - 279 TPE
</div>
Eoin MacGregor’s phenomenal 107 hits was top of all the Prince George Firebirds but was also joint fifth in the entire SMJHL, second amongst rookies, and, most impressive of all, was joint first in hits by defencemen. A thoroughly impressively display from a man who has never played hockey prior to this past season. No doubt he will continue to improve upon such incredible stats as his experience continues to grow in the sport.

Two goals. Two. Whole. Goals.

Who could have predicted such a rich vein of form from the rookie Irishman? Two goals more than doubles all preseason expectations of Eoin MacGregor and have proven him to be a prolific scorer – a true force in front of goal that ought to be watched carefully by the opposition. This kind of goal scoring cannot be overlooked: Eoin MacGregor will score against you.

(Eventually)

TWO. FUCKING. GOALS.

Do we need to emphasise this any more? Eoin MacGregor is the finest goal scorer you’ve ever, and ever will, see in your life. End of.

#6 Eoin MacGregor
Prince George Firebirds - 279 TPE
</div>
Eoin MacGregor blocked 44 shots last season.

Okay, that isn’t a huge amount, but most of those were solely with his beard. Once he overcomes his fear of the puck he’ll probably start to actually try and get in the way of it more often but, for now, he’s undergoing professional therapy regarding his phobia of flying black rubber circles. They say it’s from his childhood so this could take some time.

#5 Eoin MacGregor
Prince George Firebirds - 279 TPE
</div>
Eoin MacGregor’s 44 blocked shots might pale in comparison to Sergei Volchenkov’s 71, but it proves the Irishman is considerably smarter than the Russian: firstly, Volchenkov is Russian and inherently drunk and stupid – unlike any Irishman; secondly, Volchenkov’s blatant disregard for his own well-being means he’ll likely have injuries and spend time on the sidelines (wait… what IS an injury?); thirdly, Volchenkov blocked most of those shots with his face and has paid the price. He’s fucking ugly. You can’t put that on the programme cover without scarring children.

Now Eoin? There’s a face you can plaster over anything and everything.

Ladies. Wink

90 penalty minutes.

Allow me to reiterate this: 90. Penalty. Minutes.

Slashing and hooking aren’t just an occasional act of frustration from this man. He doesn’t just rough up an opponent because they said something to him.

No, these are a way of life for this man. If you even dare to breathe the same air as him then he’ll crack your ankles with his stick. If you look at the goal then he’ll rip your arm off. If you mention his mother… well, the number of unconfirmed murders in Prince George has increased significantly over the past few months.

We aren’t saying he’s behind them but there’s a reason a bloodied hockey stick has been found next to a number of them.

#3 Eoin MacGregor
Prince George Firebirds - 279 TPE

The opposition are literally falling over at the mere sight of this man. They fear him and the legends of a flash of red-orange before being slashed in the ankles are scaring players across the entire league. Eoin MacGregor, the myth, the legend, and the drunkard, is terrorising the opposition on and off the ice on a frequent basis. A number of SMJHL players have complained of apparently threatening letters arriving at their homes. They say apparently because whoever wrote them was unable to spell correctly.

Eoin has been suspected but, so far, unproven to be behind these apparently malicious letters.

Look at that beard. Only a true man can grow such a fine beard. Only a real man will choose to stick with it through all seasons and fashions. Some will give up early and settle for soul patches, mutton chops, and filthy fucking moustaches. Eoin MacGregor spits on these half-men. They’re cowards; unable to spare the testosterone it takes to develop and maintain a fine jaw mane. A real man doesn’t give a damn about the men who are intimidated by it, women afraid of what lies behind, or even the ghost hunters who regularly do guided tours into the depths of it, in search of the reported spirits lost deep within including a Victorian milkman who was lost delivering his final pint of milk in 1887.

No, a real man only cares about one thing.

Where the fuck his next sandwich is coming from.

LOOK AT THAT GOD DAMN FUCKING BEARD!

It’s the best thing you’ll ever see in your miserable life.

You wish you could grow something as majestic as it but you’re too afraid. You’re afraid that your boss might disagree because of ‘company policy’, of what your significant other will say as you suddenly turn them into the bitch of the relationship because of such a display of pure manhood, or you’re just a bitch that’s too afraid to commit to something so completely life changing as a fucking beard.

You disgust me.

Eoin MacGregor carried this superb example of a beard and was still selfless enough to provide 15 assists last season. A real man is a giver first and foremost. A real man will see to the needs of those that surround him before he even dares to think of himself. You sit there and you wonder what you should have for dinner while Eoin prepares the finest Irish cuisine of raw potatoes marinated in Guinness for all of his teammates. He gives them the beard, and therefore the inspiration, that only he can provide. The kind only a true alternative captain will give his comrades in arms.

Eoin MacGregor is a true team player. He’s the most selfless player in his draft and, undoubtedly, the best player you’ll ever sign. He will never shirk from potentially crippling another man, nor will he question the need to strike the opposition in the ankles and wrists with his stick, and he is willing to use his beard for the good of the team to block shots. And, above all, he will assist you like no other. All the while being the best damn scoring threat you’ve ever seen in your life.

Choose Eoin MacGregor when you’re drafting this year and you‘ll make the single best decision of your otherwise pointless life.

This seems very biased, there are one or two players that I don't think would have made the list if they didn't play for Prince George.

I think you're the one being biased here. I'm afraid you're just angry no Whalers were good enough for this definitive list.

I'm disappointed I couldn't give Eoin more recognition. He really deserves it.

Inb4 shocking trade results in Eoin Macgregor being picked as 1st overall, while Eoin Macgregor gets passed over and falls to 7th overall.
