^ Simple counter to your opinion that PBPs should be discontinued, albeit a bit apathetic, Eggy's Multi made a simple statement.
To which you later quipped:
^ His initial logic was that it made the playoffs more enjoyable; something he doesn't need to justify to you. He was flatly dismissed based on the season he joined the site.[/b]
Sry SHL bugged out.
My ACTUAL response to the quote you provided from Eggy's Multi:
Quote:My suggestion still allows you to enjoy the stupid ass PbPs, you just have to have some self control and not go looking in the index.
So it still lets you enjoy 'the way it is' while not making people like me, who have no care for pBp, not have to suffer through the horrible timeline of
"Oh... 3 other games from today have already been PbP'd and are over. Guess I'll have to wait another 8 hours for the pBper of my game to get online and write some spam, which I will skip over, to see the 'stats post' aka the game file"
aka a not-so-agressive counter-point to his point.... to which HE retorted:
<!--QuoteBegin-Eggy's Multi "men are nothing but a pile of miserable secrets"
ph34r.gif
But srsly, maybe if you ever watched a PBP and interacted with it, you'll understand waiting is way too hard, most if not all people would go and look at it and be sad or happy if their team won [/quote]
which is a prime example of a new member acting like they know more than a long-standing member, and at THAT point I told him to SYAU.
Oh look, the all-knowing and great JackCross leaving out vital info to try and get a W. Stick to embedding shitty music into your sim index.

But you changed your tune really quick in here... here anyone's able to have any opinion on anything! But someone has a differing opinion than you on something as dumb as sim league PBP's and they get told to shut up. #Consistency

How tf are you gonna tell someone who's been on the site for like 16 months longer than you, that they have never posted or interacted with a PbP... That's the exact kind of new-member attitude that is going to be met with hostility by me.

Wow. Just got on here for the first time today and am blown away. I have never commented on a suspension before and never really cared to.
All that being said, a permanent ban is utterly ridiculous.
I realize the powers that be here have an obligation to police certain matters. I would never argue their right to issue bans or other similar punitive actions. A permanent ban though? Are we saying there can be no hope for redemption or parole? This is an unreasonable stance to take in my opinion. Judgement is being passed here that says this individual has no chance at redeeming himself or ever making things better. This is a statement that humans are incapable of growth and learning. I do not and will never agree with this viewpoint.
If this is strictly about punitive action, then certainly a lesson can be learned and proper penance paid without a permanent ban. If this is instead an attempt to protect delicate young minds from the "evils of intolerance" or some other such bugaboo than we would be better off with a rehabilitated and properly chastised Hedgehog helping to make this point.
Regardless of the age groups represented on this site (and I am all too aware I fall on the extreme outer edge of old as far as that goes) most of what is said and occurs here has a decidedly ribald and sophomoric slant to it. The examples of bad language, sexual innuendo, threats of violence and other immature behavior on this site are legion. Obviously people are ok with that. I'm not saying there shouldn't be standards, simply that such standards must be applied with a lighter touch in keeping with the overall tenor of the site.
This decision needs to be tabled for a few days and reconsidered when cooler heads have had a chance to prevail.

For what its worth permanent bans have been overturned in the past, "Permanent bans" basically means you need to stay away from this site for quite some time. There has been several times where people have come back a few months later and asked a commissioner for forgiveness, the commissioner gives them a short leash (Usually under a new username) and they either work out fine and are active, contributing members or quickly make the same dumb mistakes and end up banned again.
