Calgary picks up Braden Carlzner and he should fit well with them early and bring depth to their defense, Carlzner is great in his own zone but he also has a fairly good shot and puck handling.
West Kendall picks Julien Marshall with the 17th pick. Marshall had a good season on what was a bad Vancouver team. He is a pure scorer and very smooth skater. He is turning into a penalty shot specialist too.
Minnesota selects Markus Backlund, this could be the steal of the draft as Backlund is a very hard worker and skilled player and I was surprised he dropped this low. Backlund ended the season with 46 points and improved his scorer, puck handling and skating over the season.
Toronto selects Phil Schenn. Name fits perfect in Toronto. Schenn is a pure scorer but also has good vision to make a good pass.
Las Vegas picks Bryan Whisonant from the Montreal Impact. Bryan Whisonant is a great scorer and has amazing hands but his only down side he is not a very strong skater.
