<div align="center">Player: Alex Light Position: LW Born: June 16th Shoots: Right Height (ft.): 6'1" Weight (lbs.): 197 lbs Birthplace: Montreal Canada Player Type: Sniper</div> <div align="center">ABOUT</div> Shoot shoot shoot. Alex Light absolutely adores to score goals and his celebration antics have made the junior hockey more than a couple times. The young offensive talent from Montréal, Quebec, possesses some of the best hands in this year’s draft class and an aim that has been on point all season long. But it was not all sunshine and roses for Light as he spent the entire year before that recovering from a freak car accident that left him with a fractured arm. When asked about the incident Light stated: “My arm has recovered 100% since then accident. In fact it was during the rehabilitation process that I focused on perfecting my aim as I couldn’t put too much power in my arm at the start”. Light began his hockey career later than most kids, at the age of 10. However winter sports has always been in his family’s history with his mother, Maude, a former artistic skater, and his father, Noah, a former cross-country skier both represented Canada at the Olympics. It was only natural for him to follow in their footsteps and it definitely shows in his skating today. By the time he entered the juniors he had broken the scoring record for a single season in the midgets with the Verdun Villains. At the junior level, his rookie season with the Fairview Falcons started off strongly, posting 12 goals and 17 points in his first 10 games. Eventually the older, more experienced players learned how to deal with him and his production slowed down, finishing the season with a respectable 35 goals, 71 points in 45 games played. His second season in the junior ended abruptly early in the season when he broke his arm. He was leading the league in goals scored at the time with 13 goals in 7 games. His last season with the Falcons would be key in knowing whether his arm had healed or not and scouts were heavily present at the start of the year to get their answers. Light responded strongly to the cynics, posting a strong 65 goals, 103 points in 45 games to take the goal scoring trophy. <div align="center">STRENGTHS</div> Alex Light is gifted in all offensive aspects of the game whether it be shooting, puck handling, skating and goal celebrations. Above all, Light possesses a strong wrist shot, an above average hockey vision and sense that lets him position himself at the right spot at the correct time. With him on the ice, expect the opposing goalie to be peppered with shots. With his strong skating expect more than a fair share of breakaways. Expect to see him on the ice for every powerplay and offensive face-offs. <div align="center">WEAKNESSES </div> Whilst his offensive game is absolutely on point, his defensive game is nothing to write home about. In spite of having good physical strength and conditioning, Light does not favour a physical game which leaves room for opponents on his side of the ice. His checking has led him to take more avoidable penalties than most players in the juniors. At the start in the SMJHL he may be able to get away with it but he will have to rapidly develop his defensive game if he wants to make it to the big league, the SHL. <div align="center">FINAL THOUGHTS</div> Light has clear cut strengths and clear cut weaknesses in his game. He will definitely be a boon to teams looking to add more firepower to their top 6 and their powerplay. He needs to be given space to “let loose” and do what Light does best. He will not fit in a team looking for more defensive depth or tryping to fix their penalty kill. Overall, this is a player with a lot of upside in the immediate future that could develop to become a core player, perhaps even a leader on his team. Light will answer all questions you may have. <div align="center">Q&A SESSION</div> Q: What kind of mood do you bring to a locker room? A: I would like to think that I bring a winning mentality to any locker room. The reason I celebrate so strongly after most goals is because I want to reinforce that positive aspect. A strong attitude leads to a strong play, such is my belief Q: Please provide your cutest animal pic. A: I can provide you with a picture of my cats Q: Do you have plans to bulk up any over your junior career? A: I have started my training and have put a focus on improving my strength and endurance before the start of the season. I will also work towards improving my offensive game some more. Q:Are there any junior teams that have caught your eye? A: Growing up in Montreal, I've always kept an eye to what the Militia did and I would be lying if I said I didn't want to play for them as a kid, but as an aspiring future professional player I will go wherever I have to and give it my all. I've also had a couple of interviews with some of the SMJHL teams so we'll see if that helped. Q:Which teams' logos do you like the best? A: I'm partial to the Militia's logo as it was my hometown team growing up in Montreal. Otherwise I think the Mammoths logo is great! Q:Oh a question, um, where do you think you'll be drafted? Why? A: I definitely hope to be drafted by a contender. As for when, I'm hopeful to be drafted fairly early on during the draft. ![]() Registered S30, S31, S33, and S54 Challenge Cup Champion
