Did you feel any extra stress this season after being chosen #1OA?
Truthfully, I didn't expect my season to go that much better than last year, so the marginal improvement was pretty nice to see. I don't know if I'd necessarily call it extra stress because expectations for this SMJHL season, at least on an individual level, weren't all that high? It's not like I was expected to produce that much this season, everyone saw how last year went... I think I'll be much more stressed in my first SHL season.
How do you think West Kendall will do in the playoffs this season?
I think if they can get past the Wolfpack, they have a chance of winning it all. That's just me being a massive homer. But I do think their biggest obstacle, honestly, is getting past New England in that first round matchup.
Is there anyone who stands out to you who you'd like West Kendall to draft this upcoming offseason?
There are a couple. Kristy O'Sullivan on the Firebirds has proven to be pretty ambitious, and I know if we drafted her, she'd be working damn hard for the sake of the team. Luke Atmey and Seppo Repo are a couple of other ones who I know will make fantastic players and I'd really like to share a locker room. To tell you the truth, I actually didn't follow the SMJHL rookies this season that intensely (other than like... the Deplorables, just because it was kind of hard not to) so.
Any pre-game superstitions you follow?
There... may or may not be a glass on my nightstand with a really fucked up picture of the Halifax Raiders stuck in the bottom out of which a double shot of vodka is drunk before every game... <a href='index.php?showuser=2349' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-17'>bozzz</a> has been trying to make me get rid of it since, like, the beginning of this season. I refuse.
How do you feel about your performance this season, compared to last?
It's an improvement! :lol: I'm satisfied, I suppose. I wasn't hoping for much, so I was pleasantly surprised. I actually scored more goals than assists, which hopefully means I'm moving my player in the right direction? I had more goals than <a href='index.php?showuser=2327' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>ztevans</a>, which is all I care about.
Will Halifax go far in the playoffs?
Hell yeah. I think we have a really solid team this time around, and if we could win the Four Star Cup with a trainwreck of a team, I think we can win it with a beauty of one.
What kind of impact are you hoping to have in the playoffs?
I mean, I guess I'd like to score some clutch goals like the couple I had towards the end of the playoffs last season, but... I'd rather have wins with no input from me than blow it up individually but have nothing to show for it as a team.
Early, but chances of you being on the opening day roster of West Kendall next season?
Doubtful. I think if Bojo were to call any of us up (which I don't think is happening next season regardless), Alex Light would be the first one on the list, not me. And justifiably so. He's the better prospect. I don't expect to see myself on the Platoon until S33 hopefully, but maybe S34.
Who do you think gets called up to West Kendall first, Alex Light or Pietra Volkova, and why is the clearly correct answer Pietra Volkova?
No, no, no, you don't get to throw this question back at me :lol: Honestly, it'll be you. The Platoon isn't exactly wanting for players... Once they start doing callups, it'll be based on merit. And you clearly deserve it much more than I do. You're the better performer/contributor for your team, and you'll be a hell of a lot more successful in West Kendall than I will, haha.
You were named captain of the Raiders this season. Do you think that affected your performance this season?
I think if it had any effect on my on-ice performance at all, it was a positive one. I did better this season. Not that that's saying much, honestly, but it's a start. I'd like to think I'm working towards being a better role model for my team.
Thoughts on your season? What went right? What went wrong?
What went right: I scored more, but moreover, I scored more goals than assists, which was what I was aiming to do as a sniper. The shift in that ratio is definitely promising.
What went wrong: I'm still complete shit, haha. Nowhere close to justifying my draft position in either of our drafts, honestly.
Expectations for playoffs? Can Halifax repeat as champions?

Exciting! We've already started work, and I'm already really enjoying being involved in the process. I'm looking forward to learning from c and engi, and picking things up as we go. I love IIHF a lot more than I know most people on the site do, so I'm really happy about it all, and overeager to do anything that needs to get done.

I'm pretty sure she's actually the only new, active Russian, as the rest have gone inactive.

She seems dedicated already, she's super sweet, and I'm sure she'll be making an impact for us soon enough. ... I have an unhealthy obsession for chocolate, so this is a hard question... I'm super easy for caramel, so maybe either Ghirardelli milk chocolate squares with caramel or Hershey caramel Kisses. Volkova probably goes for dark chocolate.

Under the cap, I'd love to switch with Alex Light right now. I'm not salty at all :lol: But for real, he has a stellar, super-productive build that I envy a lot. I don't know if my problem is with the build itself or with the situations I've been put in as a consequence of being a member of a super stacked team, but I'm sure I'd be doing a hell of a lot better with Zoone's build.
