Calling Out Maxy
#16

Yeah, I got a co-GM job in my first year mid-season through juniors. So I wouldn't say it's a huge popularity contest.

Plus you can still apply for the job, Shutout is hiring someone to help him out.

I've been here since Mid S2 (For those who don't know or have forgotten, I was Brett Solberg, Dragons' Center). I've applied countless times for positions. And I got extremely angry last season because of the decisions made for GM's, even though i was GM of Vancouver and Enthropi told me that if he went away, I'd get Full-Time position.

I'm starting to believe that decisions based on GM spots and Personnel Positions are becoming Biased. Congrats to Raycroft, but I believe that the decision was biased because:

1. He's more active via posting
2. He's had a Co-GM spot on another team, giving him some kind of experience even though I've seen him do very little Managerial Duty in Vancouver. (For S4 & S5, I scouted AND drafted all Whalers players, and even at times update player attributes and lines)
3. This is probably a big reason, because you know him better than either of us.

Last year, the vacant GM spots were given to one qualified person (Seguin) and then-rookies in the league. This year was a decision based on favoritism.

I'm officially declaring myself out of any further applications to GM vacancies, because I now know that I'll get shafted every time.

If I get suspended or banned for my comments, then there must be something wrong, because I'll get suspended/banned for voicing my opinion on the direction the SHL is going right now.

actually, he was co-gm of the Nightmare, sure, not full GM, but he was the Co-GM. Also, I've seen him go inactive multiple times, where as I have never once gone inactive on any sim league I've ever been in.

I've been inactive?

lol, when?

Also since I've been Commish or Co-Commish I think I've done a fair job of choosing those who have had the jobs. Between Bolt and I and now Hoggie and I we have chosen

Seth, Hornsby/Diamond Ace, Raymond, Abdeezy, Kearnsy, Deener... All of whom are now SHL GM's.

With the new rules about only being able to have one GMing job in the SHL/NWJHL it alleviates that problem. Shutout will have to choose someone who doesn't have another job.

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

ya i agree, u deserved it, you've been here for a long time and shutout has already GMed before, not taking anything away from him cuz hes a good GM but people who've never GMed before deserve a chance for the sake of interest

And just to clarify, we do not chose on what color your name is or who you are.

If i pick a new person to the boards, i get in shit because i should have chosen a vet.

I chose a vet on the boards and get in shit because new members dont get a chance.

Same story over and over.

Honestly guys, every single time it's about who takes the time to prove they want the job most. Put time into your app and you are going to get considered. Sorry but when theres one job and 30 applicants we can only pick one person.

But honestly I have always been fairly critical of Maxy(and Hoggie) but you look through who they have hired and almost every one of them has been an extremely qualified GM. The bottom line is when a spot opens up you will be competing against 15-20 overly qualified people and it is not as easy to get a GM jbo as it was 3 seasons ago.....just the way it is

Also guys. It's called resume building. Sometimes you need to sit in the backseat for 4-5 seasons before you get your chance to run a team yourself.

And I wouldn't consider it a popularity contest as Maxy and myself have had our disagreements many times.

Shoulda been me tbh imo

:( I know I ended up stepping down in the end because of lack of time adjusting to new stuff irl, but I felt I was deserving of a chance.
