I feel legitimately bad for Colorado. They finish as the bottom team in the league, and through the lottery, they get bumped down to #6.

With that being said, I can both understand the process and question it at the same time. I feel like there should be some protection with the worst team in leagues. For example, if you finish last, the lowest you can go in the lottery is something like 3rd.

Again, the process is understood, but I just don't like how the bottom team doesn't have some kind of protection for it. Not gonna dispute the result here at all, I'm in no business to doing that.

this is pretty ridiculous, it should be reviewed

Could go to a lottery for just the first overall pick, with the rest being determined by regular season/playoffs finish, like the SHL does. That'd mean the two teams that don't make playoffs would be 2nd and 3rd at worst, I think.
