The SMJHL post season hot sheet s35's most notable playoff performers
#1

Welcome to the SMJHL Post Season Hot Sheet.. S35's most notable playoff performers!

Last seasons SMJHL's post season Hot Sheet payed homage to some of S34's greatest post season performers as we witnessed Zanarkand Abes move to Prince George late in the season and impose his will in the playoffs as he posted 6G, 7A, +6 and 3 1st star performances in a strong Firebirds playoff run! We also watched Noro Wozy show why he was one of the SMJHL's greatest stars as he dominated the post season, ending with a league championship! We saw Stephan Harris become a house hold name as the Falcons Netminder busted out of obscurity to become the playoffs most prolific goalie! and we observed rookies Louie Garrett, the Augment Mike Izzy and Jack Hanson emerge into the leagues collective conciousness as each made a name for themselves through their play in the leagues spotlight. --> Today we will take a look at some of this season best playoff performers in the SMJHL's hot sheet for S35!

Vratislav Zbyněk, F, Colorado Mammoths (<a href='index.php?showuser=1984' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Beaty</a>)

When the league media talks about the Colorado Mammoths they usually start and stop with the name Fin Kruger.... but the reality is there's lots of talent on this Colorado roster grid, which is being proven this post season as the franchise knocked off the 3rd seeded Prince George Firebirds in round 1 and then upset the heavily favored St. Louis Scarecrows in a classic 7 game series!.. Now Colorado is looking to make history as they take on the Vancouver Whalers in this seasons 4 Star Cup finals!.. Not being able to pronounce a single name aside from Kruger may be the reason for there lack of exposure.

but not today!.. as the Hot Sheet spotlights 2nd line forward Vratislav Zbyněk who's led a Mammoth attack that boasts 5 of the top 8 post season performers to date. Through 14 games Zbyněk has scored 14 points, 9 of them on the power play on 56 shots. Zbyněk has had a fine SMJHL career scoring 20 points in his rookie campaign and then following that up with back to back 40+ point seasons.. and if turns out to be Vratislav's final moments in the juniors, well he's leaving on a real high note.

Vratislav Zbyněks hot sheet entry will represent the other unspeakable names on this roster who have helped lift a team who backed into the playoffs to 4 games away from league immortality. Players like Asvard Lyszczarczyk who scored the winning goal in-game 7 of that double over time classic against the Scarecrows. Wolf Von Hammersmark who's chipped in 6 goals and 4 assists on a high-octane 19.35% shooting percentage. Daedric Heikennin whos 2nd season resulted in 31 points as a strong secondary scorer and netminder Aleksandr Aleksandrov who in this offseason has begun to distinguish himself as a 4th viable goalie in the S34 draft.

Robert Phelps, C, Vancouver Whalers (<a href='index.php?showuser=2572' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-66'>DrunkenTeddy</a>)

While his playoff stint has only been 6 games long, Whalers center Robert Phelps has emerged as the dominant figure on the ice that most expected him to be when he was drafted 1st overall by Vancouver and 1st overall by Hamilton. In his series with Kelowna Phelps scored 4 times while dishing out 2 assists on a 25% shooting percentage which ranks 3rd in the playoffs. Phelps also won 63% of his faceoffs which is tops in post season.. combine that with a +4 differential and you have a player that imposed his will on the ice.

Coming off of a productive 1st season Phelps struggled early on to make the jump on a loaded Whalers lineup. But as the Whalers got hot so did Phelps as they both rode the wave of success with Vancouver clinching the 2nd seed while Phelps enjoying an 11 goal 28 assist campaign along with 77 hits and a +20.

Vancouver plays Colorado in the finals and Phelps had a lot of help getting there.. which includes linemate Sophia Bennett who has scored 6 points in 6 games, Shoyu Kikkoman who has emerged as one of the best defenseman in the SMJHL with 9 points and 2 first star performances and team captain Angelo Odjick who boasts 20 hits in just 6 games.

Nour Harrak, F, Kelowna Knights ® (<a href='index.php?showuser=2683' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-71'>NourFFAK</a>)

For the first half of the season most knew of Nour Harrick as the dude that made the new team uniforms.. and in the 2nd half of the season most knew of Nour Harrick as that offensive threat on the Kelowna Knights! The majority of Nours 18 points came in the 2nd half as he and line mate Mike Izzy formed a cohesive unit on the ice leading Kelownas #Will2Win movement which watched the Knights go 12 games deep into the playoffs in a season which was considered to be a rebuild. During those 12 games is where Harrick made a name for himself scoring 12 points (which is ranked 4th in post season) including a +6 and the leagues the most dominant game in post season as Harrick dropped a hat trick on Vancouver ending with 4 points on 10 shots and a +4 on the game.

Harrick shares this Hot sheet with fellow rookie Mercer Church whos numbers in post season have also been note worthy.. ending with 11 points and 24 hits in 12 match ups. Harrick and Church will enter this seasons SHL draft and than come back to Kelowna in 36 along side Mike Izzy to form one of the most formidable lines in the juniors.

Chuck Goody Jr., D, St. Louis Scarecrows (<a href='index.php?showuser=711' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Nike</a>)

On a team as talented as the Scarecrows its hard to destinguish yourself amongst the others, especially if your a blue collar defenceman like Chuck Goody Jr. But in the playoffs Goody showed more flash to his repetour scoring 6 points in just 7 games which ranks him 6th in playoffs among defenseman... and the only D-man aside from Kikkoman to sit on the top tier of the leaderboard with less than 10 games played.

Goody Jr was part of a draft day blockbuster where Calgary and Los Angeles swapped picks... Sophia Bennett was taken by the Panthers with the 6th pick while the Dragons selected Goody Jr at #11. Chuck rewarded Calgary with a productive season on the ice as the first line defenceman played 1,138 minutes which was the 6th most in the juniors while scoring 25 points with 50+ hits and blocks.

Colton Hagan, F, Colorado mammoths ® (<a href='index.php?showuser=2281' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-17'>CampinKiller</a>)

Rookie Colton Hagan has had a good year. Drafted with the 3rd pick in round 4 Hagan took on an important role for Colorado as a secondary scorer and the teams top grinder. Hagan ended his season with 17 points and 101 hits which fell just outside of the leagues top 10. but in the playoffs his dirty work has shined as he leads the post season in hits (40) while chipping in 8 points. One way to measure a power forwards worth is by the play of his team mates.. and Coltons work on the peripherals has opened up a lane for his team mates to go through.. all the way to the 4 star cup finals!

Other Notibles:

Sebastian Thompson, Goalie, Kelowna Knights (<a href='index.php?showuser=2456' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Anders157</a>)

Sabastian Thompson played the role of a battering ram during his 2nd round series with Vancouver as they out shot Kelowna 182-90 in there 5 game series! Thankfully Thompson came out of that series alive.. he also left post season with the leagues highest save percentage at .905% a pretty remarkable feat under the circumstances.

A full-time starter in every season he's played, Thomspson adds 4 playoff appearances to his resume as well as numerous individual awards topped off by a 4 star cup championship in S32. Thompsons future at this point is unknown. But he has had a fine SMJHL career.

Dani Forsberg, F, Prince george Firebirds (<a href='index.php?showuser=2535' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-59'>Insayne</a>)

Dani Forsberg played 6 games in the playofs scoring 9 points in a seriers loss to Colorado. While his post season run was short his SMJHL career was long and distinguished. Forsberg ends his time in the juniors after 150 games with 57 goals, 61 assists, 118 points and 331 hits.
