hmm...

There is a slight difference between the hits... Marchand was goinjg in for a hit on Raymond in teh first one and he ducked down in self defense. If you look at the Marchand one, Salo wasn't going in for a hit it was self defense

Earlier on that shift they bumped shoulders in a play exactly like that, I don't know why Marchand ducked down in the second

Was thinking around 3-5 games, so it's good that Shanny suspended him for the right amount of time.

I believe Salo has a concussion too... Dammit <_<

tbh i can try and argue that this is difference but its not really, raymond was just a pussy, but different disciplinarian is the only thing i can see.

and on the hamhuis one was a typical hip check, those are still legal

yea i know...im not complaining about the suspension really...it is what it is

i just cant stand how AV comes out and says his intent was to injure Salo...when in fact there are players on his own team that have delivered essentially the same type of hit.

and the hamhuis one really wasnt a hip check...the initial contact with lucic wasnt at the hip.
Clipping by definition is a hit to the knees or below...if you look at the replay it is fairly clear that hamhuis' shoulder/hip goes into Lucic's knees

same thing with the Ballard - McGinn hit...both of them were technically clipping

I'm the opposite... I don't like both the Hamhuis and Ballard - McGinn one's, but for me Raymond was doing it in self defense. He saw an open ice hit coming and ducked down.

Hamhuis and Ballard were just low hipchecks

the same can be said for Marchand tho...he goes to play the puck...sees Salo coming in on him, and ducks.

its a bitch move and its dirty...but i honestly see no difference at all between that and Raymond

well when you do something like that and have a history some people will say stuff like his intent was to injure, and it sure looked that way...

hamhuis' hit was more back to like the groin area, what it looks like to me

and on Ballard's hit McGinn leaves his feet as soon as he sees Ballard's hip

but ya what's done is done and we shouldn't argue about. we should be able to post our opinions without other teams fan being offended, both he Canucks and Bruins are good teams that play 2 different types of hockey.

what history has Marchand had of trying to hurt people? lol

the only other play i can think of was the one on Sedin in the finals.
he plays an agitator game...which i wish he would stop doing tbh, but w/e

i dont really see him going out trying to hurt people tho

marchand has loads of talent but he's heading down the wrong road, like i said before i would love to have Marchand on my team for what he does, because he gets under the skin in that, but being a canucks fan i hate him Tongue

The difference between them was that Salo wasn't coming in for a hit on Marchand earlier like he was on Raymond. Salo came in the play the puck and Marchand wet for the knee's

Watch the NHL.com video, it explains it pretty well

yea he plays on the edge and sometimes he crosses it...but the way AV's comments came off was as if he runs around all game trying to take people out.

which tbh isnt the case

but how does Marchand know Salo isnt coming in for a hit lol
Marchand has his eyes on the puck the whole time...looks up for a second and sees Salo coming in

well sorta but isn't that the point of a 4th liner or someone like Marchand? to run around annoy the other team and throw hits? isn't it there jobs to hit others and try to get their team pumped up and crowd and maybe hurt someone, every team does it though

and your coach said some dumb words that can easily be taken outta context

"i guess we're stupid, we're idiots and and they're the smartest team in the league, so"

all in all, both GMs and coaches they shouldn't have and should just shut up about the whole thing.

We can all agree that Marchand has tons of talent, you don't just score 15 goals without having skill with your stick. However if you can't admit that was a dirty hit, then the goggles need to come off. I've seriously seen some biased opinions on other boards, but the Bruins fans I've talked to think that was an intent to injure and they don't think it merits a slap on the wrist either. Sorry but Marchand was in the wrong, just like Rome was in the wrong on Horton. Forgive and forget and get on with the game.
