<div align="center">Markus Meliodas - Why he won't be drafted in the First Round

I often spend a lot of time praising my players and trying to build my draft stock in almost every league and scenario but this time around I'm going to give General Managers the cold hard facts as to why you probably shouldn't draft me high on reputation alone. This will probably end up being a long-winded attempt at earning some money, which ironically leads into one of the reasons to not draft me.

SHL was my first ever player sim league, I stress player because I had done regular GM leagues before back in my high school days when 5mbps was considered fast for an internet speed. This league sparked an old passion and I ran with it to almost every player sim league I could find. It was a good filler of my time for being temporarily unemployed and my first two-three seasons here I went ham on David Benson and rightfully went first overall at the time. It felt great and it was honestly everything I wanted. Every season since then the spark has died a little more and more and looking back at it I'm not sure how the heck I was as active as I was with Benson 15 or so seasons ago.

This leads into Meliodas. I came back to the site after being away for I think maybe a season and a half and it just so happened to be the day before the SMJHL Draft so I foolishly thought 'what a coincidence, let's create a new player for funsies!'

Now let's talk about WHY YOU an SHL General Manager, should probably not draft me in the first or even second round or at all.

1. SHL is fourth on my sim league priority list right now

This is probably the main thing you should factor into your decision. When Benson was drafted, SHL was my top priority. Now I have administration roles in both SBA and EFL that take precedent above anything else and sadly I enjoy the casualness of GOMHL even more than SHL right now. That being said there will always be something that draws me to this site, as it was my first.

2. Meliodas won't ever take on a leadership role

This kind of goes hand-in-hand with my first point but my activity will never garner a leadership role. I'm not a franchise cornerstone, and I certainly won't have any part or interest in team management. If you're hoping to draft someone like that I am NOT your man.

3. I will demand large contracts

Something I never did with Benson. Simply put I don't plan on doing articles beyond this one and probably only do the odd graphic here and there and certainly don't want a league job. I do want to keep training, so you'll have to make sure my lazy ass is well paid if you want me to keep updating. If you want someone who will take team friendly contracts it won't be me.

4. I only want to play Center, I won't settle for playing as a winger to help the team

I never ended up getting to with Benson so I won't make that mistake again. If you draft me make sure you can play at C even if it is on the third line.

5. I PROBABLY will test free agency at some point

Again something I didn't do with Benson. I'll be loyal, I might play 8 or 9 seasons for you but eventually I want to experience SHL Free Agency and that may or may not lead me to return to you team. This is a risk because I could play 2-3 seasons for you or I could play 10.

6. My player will act like a dick

IF I am active on the boards I will probably trash talk and make myself look like an idiot, it might be the only way I stay active because it's entertaining. My persona for Meliodas is a very self-righteous greedy piece of shit. He thinks he's the shit even though he's not.

7. I rarely do PTs

Every now and then I get bored at work and surprise fuckers with a completed PT but it's rare and won't happen a lot. I'll even miss the odd week of activity checks here and there.

8. I will constantly bug your team members to join SBA

It's practically ran by me, naturally I like to promote my league by networking with new people. It's part of why I stay here because SHL has such a large user base to pull from. This is a shitty thing for me to say but it's truth. I am active in Discord for the most part, but I will randomly tell people to join SBA and talk about Basketball often.

9. I want to win a Championship

This could be a good thing to see, but if 3-4 seasons down the road the team still doesn't look primed to be Championship contenders I may leave. I spent over 10 seasons with Benson with zero accolades and zero rings to his legacy. While this player won't win accolades even though his personality will tel you otherwise - I do want rings. If I ever feel that I am not in a spot to accomplish that with your team I may want out and it won't be personal. Just a pre-warning.

10. I've never accomplished anything

Much like the last post. Benson accomplished NOTHING to his namesake - so why would you expect Meliodas to? His ceiling is even worse and won't be a legend.

Alright so there's the list, now if you've read through it and for SOME reason still think drafting Markus Meliodas is a good fucking idea...you should probably resign from your job as General Manager (I keed). IF you're willing to accept that I think I can be a good fit.

What you can expect having me on your team is someone who will despite activity be around for a long career and break the 1000 TPE plateau eventually. I'm not going to disappear from the sim league community and if you bug me enough I'll do my updates and shit. I can be a fun member to have but I want you to have set expectations before wasting a top pick.

Despite what you think, this article wasn't a ploy to try and raise my draft stock. It's more of an example as to why it is what it is and there's nothing more to it. I don't want to get drafted with high expectations - I think that killed my interest with Benson. I was so proud of going #1 that nothing else from there mattered anymore and every time Benson had a shit season it felt even worse knowing that he had high hopes.

JK, good luck with Meliodas, and good luck with the other sim sites. I've always tried others and I never get into them like I do with the SHL.
