Second IIHF USA Team?
#1

I really doubt I'm the first one to suggest this. In the WJC, there were two USA teams, though since it was kind of rushed, I didn't really get to choose between them. Naturally, as my rookie season came to a close, I was looking forward to making that decision, only to learn that 1) there was only one USA team, and 2) it was stacked as fuck, with 160 eligible members.

I think it's safe to say that splitting this into 2 teams would still produce quality teams, while giving more members a chance to compete (and I'm sure some other countries wouldn't mind seeing this monster split up a bit, either).

Hate it, as someone on another team. Wouldn't mean shit if we beat half of the US.

160 eligible players doesn't mean 160 decent players. Half of those are 155 TPE, 75% under 350 TPE. And as mentioned, no one wants to win over a half strength nation.

You don't get to pick which team you play for for the WJC. The GMs of the two US teams had a mini draft to split players. WJC is going to be changing this season and I expect it to return to just the one US team.

As for IIHF Splitting the US would mean we would have to either remove a team, which no one wants. Or add a second new team. Smaller teams are already struggling for active players and adding two more teams would likely mean less active users wanting to transfer or create for the smaller nations.

There may be 160 eligible players for the US. But how many are active? Active players above 250 TPE must take priority of inactive users. So the chance to play for the US is better than it initially seems.

What changes have happened that have had any impact on the tournament. Artermis has done a great job so far, but the only changes he's made is to include all the nations management in all decisions made. Nothing he's done has changed how the tournament runs.

IIHF, to me, should be about the best from each country competing. We're not giving participation trophies out here. If you're in a competitive country and want to play sooner, you can always transfer to a less competitive country.

EDIT: I was called up in S37, and just this upcoming IIHF will I be playing. I want my country (Canada) to win, if I help with that good, otherwise don't play me.

Didn't know about the draft. I received some recruiting PMs from other countries, thought every team had to recruit.

75% under 350 seems unlikely. I'm over 600 TPE, and didn't make the team. The 4th line currently consists of Evandrus Jesster, John Langabeer, Jr, and Rick James.

Just a ball park figure, but as a person that has scouted the entire list, it's pretty barren. I imagine that's true for all nations though.

Honestly, splitting up into two teams would just lock more players in as nontransferable. If a nation can benefit from our surplus of players that aren't quite enough to make the team, then they should be able to. Two USA teams would hinder that.
