In the wake of Head GM <a href='index.php?showuser=2572' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-56'>DrunkenTeddy</a> stepping down, Team Canada calls a press conference at the Rogers arena in Vancouver to field questions and announce the future of Team Canada's management.

"I'm honoured to take on the role of head GM here in Team Canada," said Joey Wheeler, Canada's previous coGM and expected frontrunner to take on the head position. "I would like to thank Teddy a million times over for allowing me to learn from him and win a gold medal alongside him and the rest of our team. It really was an amazing honour and I look forward to defending that gold medal alongside what is gearing up to be a very strong roster for us again."

Following the thank you's and looking towards the future, Wheeler had more to announce in regards to management.

"I'm coming close to 2 seasons under my belt as Head GM in Kelowna, and I'm going to need a coGM here in Canada to share the workload. It's with great pleasure I'm proud to announce that my coGM here for Team Canada will be Gary Grease (<a href='index.php?showuser=2875' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-62'>FlappyGiraffe</a>)! Grease has been eyeing a GM spot for a while and I think he'll get great experience as co here in Canada, and hopefully work with us here for a long time. Welcome aboard brother, excited to work with you!"

A few will be making the jump this season, the big names to look out for will be Blackwell and Harrak making IIHF debuts, potentially even Gary Grease. I had the privilege of GMing the Knights will Harrak played there and he's fired up to represent Canada at this stage. In terms of competition we obviously have a close eye on the usual suspects like USA, Ireland and Russia, but we're keeping a keen eye on Austria as well, especially with their steady improvement over the last few tournaments.

Unfortunately, I think we'll have to side with Don on this one - not enough mustard in the world to cover some of the hotdogs out there.

There are plenty of very skilled Canadian youngsters looking to burst onto the scene in the next few seasons. Our world junior team just steamrolled their way into a gold medal finish last season, and are looking like a powerhouse once again this year. I won't mention anybody in particular since I would probably end up forgetting someone major, but rest easy knowing that we have lots of depth nationwide (except at defense, if you're a young dman that doesn't mind waiting a few seasons to make the team hmu).

An IIHF team that kind of scares me would have to be Austria. Coach Biz has done an excellent job recruiting some great people the past few seasons, and I can see them becoming a very strong and deep team in a few once their players develop a bit more.
