It wasn't for a joke, I just have an issue with the fact that a respected SHL GM expected every other team on the site to let an active player fall to 22nd overall in a weakish draft out of good will when they had 2 first round picks to draft his player if they wanted to.  I've message Samee numerous times at this point and have offered a 5th and his player in exchange for a 5th. I don't really think it's the responsibility of the GM's around the league to be nice to Samee and let his eligible player slide towards the end of the draft. We're trying to be competitive and acquire the best resources we can. At that point in the draft, we wanted a 2nd from a future draft more than the available players. Samee had a few warnings that his player would be selected before Seattle's pick, and he decided to risk it by not using either of his 1sts. NEW wastes a 2nd, Samee wastes 2 months of his time.

I respectfully disagree. The last time that this happened was in S33 when JT was named interim GM of the Blizzard in the off-season before the draft, and he selected himself at 25 OA in that draft. The main difference between this situation and that situation is that the GM didn't pass on himself twice before selecting himself. Mind you, that draft was also a little bit stronger (shoutout zombiewolf and crossfit for being two late steals in that draft).

I think that there is a massive difference in that, expecting the rest of your GMs to play nice -- on what at the end of the day is an unfortunate mistake from SEA management (when Rice stepped down and named Samee as interim). Passing on yourself twice, knowing that other teams could select your player is (to me) taking the other GMs for granted and really asking for a lot. You have 26 other minds to think about when you pass on your player and let more picks go by. Was it a harsh move from NEW? Yes, but there was a lot that Samee could have done in order to get his player back, or prevent the entire situation from happening since he did not find out as a spurt of the moment thing.

I think NEW offering a 5th plus his player for a 5th is as good as it's going to get. Samee looks like an idiot for losing 2 months of his time, NEW looks like a harsh organisation. It's not a bright situation for the league as a whole, but I don't think that the GMs of NEW are in the wrong for selecting his player, as he was warned multiple times that his player would be selected.

It's a rough situation all around but those are just my $0.02.
