Fair enough. I like Eggy216 a lot but I don't respect him enough to not draft him if this situation came up for me .... Also for revenge.
I looked at like, people like TDW, and holding his player hostage would mean that the relationship is damaged. You want people you like to also like you, and holding his player hostage would mean he doesn't like you much anymore.
I think either way, you wouldn't do it to someone you like or respected.

Sorry samee, but retiring is the wrong move here. Develop Elias, get through your RFA years and walk. Either that, or pay the very reasonable price NEW gave you. Trying to strong arm the rest of the league will get you nowhere in a game where social status is almost everything we have to work with when building a team.

If social status is everything when building a team here then I look forward to seeing how this NEW retool goes lol

If he did not acquire his player by the start of the season, he was not allowed to be the GM of the Riot. He couldn't let Elias start the season with another team.
And a 2nd in a stronger draft class is not really a reasonable trade when he could retire and get his player for free next draft.
Essentially, NEW offered #17 OA in this draft for a future 2nd (no specific draft). I don't think that really makes us the evil extortioners we're being made out to be.

Yeah but look at it from samee's viewpoint. His choices are:
1) give you a reddit 2nd to save the inconvenience of recreating
2) retire and recreate, getting his player for free next draft as well as a quality prospect with that 2nd

Ah. Well that changes things.
Still, the auto-draft would have been a 2nd round pick would it not? What's the difference if it's from a later draft? Throw a conditional 2nd NEW's way and you get your player.

You wouldn't have done it if you felt that you weren't getting a better pick out of it. You wanted to gain a good asset for cheap, because you thought Samee had to do it. You tried to take advantage of him.

Auto-draft with a 2nd is for co-GMs. Head GMs do not need to use a pick at all, as evidenced in this same draft with Karlsson going to Texas, and Skalde to Winnipeg (they used 40th overall, a 3rd, their last pick of the draft).

I mean it's not his fault. Even if he was trying to get something better out of it, it's a legal risk he took and thought it was worth it.

Samee tried taking the good will of GM's for advantage. We aren't obligated to help Samee out by letting his player slide.
We wanted a future 2nd, he could have chosen which draft. Similar to how I let you pick the 2nd for the Clayton trade and you chose S43.

think if anyone hurt their social status, its new[/b]
I think that's a fair assumption. Still doesn't change the fact that Elias was fair game to every other team.

"I let him pick between eating the horseshit or eating the dogshit, I can't believe he ran away to my neighbours who gave him a steak dinner, for free!"
He wasn't taking advantage of the good will of GMs. I think pretty much everyone but you was fine with letting him follow the co-GM rule - he has to use his easliest 2nd. You picked him before he ever got there. If he was still on the board after 22, that's on him.
