Winnipeg vs Calgary in round 1 will be a great series. There is a serious rivalry brewing there and it will be interesting to see that continue
Can they both lose?

Winnipeg vs. Calgary is what I'm most excited for. Doesn't matter where CGY finishes in the standings because they always have a game plan, but this Winnipeg team has to be one of the most dominant to hit.

I predict Winnipeg sweeps regardless.

With the amount of time and effort the GM's put into the league they should absolutely be paid to do what they do. Constantly testing simming, keeping up with their own players as well as other players around the league, editing lines, negotiating contracts and trades. Money in this league comes through contracts and media. The Gm's doing regular GM things goes far beyond the difficulty of a media post and they deserve to be compensated as such.

I agree with this. With all the effort that goes into a general manager's role in the league, they deserve to be compensated.

Honestly i am excited to see the Buffalo series. They strike me how the Toronto Maple Leafs did in 2017 against Washington. A young team making it in when most did not expect it, potentially set up against one of the established talents. Seeing them do potentially well, and for sure so well in the Regular season gives me hope for my North Stars who are following the same model. That said, i don't see them winning. I feel like Simon T has his own Hockey Gods and the Stampede are just too young....that said, stranger things have happend.

alright.... I haven't been very vocal here lately (for personal reasons) other than the odd post or two per day, so I'll just say this. Maybe the first and last time I will talk about this....

I also might get in trouble for saying this.

I'll be honest, I'm an advocate for in game suspensions. Personally I don't think a posting ban is very effective with the integration of discord throughout the league. Maybe you miss a week's worth of TPE but even then if you're fast enough to get your week's worth of TPE, then all you're really getting is a week's holiday from posting.

That being said I couldn't give two shits what team you're on. I've always been advocating for more player suspensions ever since my first moment of action in HO with the Portland cap circumvention scandal. If you're breaching conduct of any kind, you should get dinged with an in game suspension depending on the severity of course, it don't matter to me what team you're on. (I know you were referring earlier about Logan only getting a posting ban. I absolutely advocated for a game suspension for that specific case, as well as JP for using derogatory terms towards others multiple teams for which was mostly the reason the rule was put in place btw.)

I know some of your teammates think that HAM members on HO are after you guys, that's not the case. One wanted no punishment at all, the other wanted something light. I advocated for a player suspension. So if you guys want someone to go after, don't go after crutch or teddy, go after me.

Also like to mention that I personally asked Evok to delay the sim so your GMs who were asleep at the time of posting the suspension would have time to do lines instead of being dinged by auto lines.

Lastly, I do think there should be a reform of the appeal rules so players getting hit with in game suspensions are allowed to play games during their appeals.

Hope this clears some things up. I apologize if I sound like a dick.

I don't really know how to articulate this further, this is no way an attack on you or the HO. I don't even imagine my teammates were all that serious about the bias, rather just upset and needing somebody to blame.

That being said, the truth is our team didn't feel like we had an advocate in the head office fighting on our behalf. Its not a matter of pointing fingers, but showing that we felt there was an issue, we didn't know where to go, we addressed it in the chat, and then were argued with by random people on the site defending the punishment for personal reasons.

If there was somebody in head office, an ombudsman of sorts, who provided a place for us to appropriately discuss discreetly, we wouldn't be talking right now.

-Ah, yes, everyone's favorite debate - whether we should pay GMs or not. Where do you stand on this, and if it's in the affirmative, how should this be carried out?

We should absolutely pay GMs. They have one of the most important jobs on the site and the league wouldn't function without them.

Other sim leagues pay GMs for GMing and HO for HOing. I don't see why we cannot have that here. 2M per season to all of them is something that is fine and not too much in my opinion.

I never understood why people didn't want GMs to be paid. It's not like we used real world money. I was a SHL co GM for a little while and even if I enjoyed it, it pissed me off that we didn't get paid even with all the work it requires. Yeah, it's prestigious but again, no real money is involved.

-There's been a lot of chatter about IIHF lately, though not entirely for the best reasons.

let me stop ya right there!.... all IIHF chatter that pertains to intrigue is good chatter... as the biggest issue IMO with the IIHF is the lack of promotion it gets.

thats in large part due to the IIHF... but i think that they have done a great job this season moving its intrigue into the SHL regular season weather it be through tweets, or media...

Pay GMs. Highest level of accountability on the site, they do a lot of work, and they're the lifeblood of the league. We pay for a lot less in other roles. I'm not taking 20 m a year... But something- 5 mil, would be fair.

I think GMs should absolutely get paid. They do a lot of work. Both in recruiting for the site and player retention. Do they get paid a lot? Yes. But without them, there's no league. It would just be a bunch of individual idiots doing random shit. Actually, that's pretty close to what the site is now, but slightly more organized.

If you're not excited for Buffalo and Hamilton finally throwing down, you have no soul. These two teams have never liked each other. Ever.

I am down for GMs getting paid as long as I get retroactive payment for my time served, tbh

I think GMs should get paid but I think back pay would be a bit of a mess. Id say pay them a small sum as a bit of a reward for the work they put in to keep the site floating, but not enough to make someone want to keep a gm position while not being into it.
