I think GMs should get paid but I think back pay would be a bit of a mess. Id say pay them a small sum as a bit of a reward for the work they put in to keep the site floating, but not enough to make someone want to keep a gm position while not being into it.
True. I think a bonus for being a GM instead of a salary would be best.

I am the most excited about Jets victory in playoffs. Maybe Maurizio Arrivabene will be usefull for this series or maybe not. But victory none the less for my big team is what warms my heart.

-Ah, yes, everyone's favorite debate - whether we should pay GMs or not. Where do you stand on this, and if it's in the affirmative, how should this be carried out?

Yes! We should pay GMs. They are the ones who keep this thing going by taking care of their teams. Of course there are a lot of factors, that keep SHL alive, but without the people who actually run the teams it would be pretty difficult.

For the first time in my career, Hamilton will be playing in the playoffs, most likely against Hamilton. I expect, despite some heroics from Atmey, that we will lose, and I don’t even care. I am just stoked to finally be there.

Calgary-Winnipeg is naturally the playoff series I'm most looking forward to. We really found something in the second half of the season, but Calgary is always a tough team to face even as a four-seed because Steelhead77 is a top-notch GM. I fully expect it to be a long, hard-fought series, and wouldn't even be surprised if this is our first opening-round exit since the days when I was a co-GM in S36.

Jets vs. Dragons will be a doozy. Even though the Jets won the league with best record, it seems to be a curse for whoever does that. Dragons have had the Jets number in the past and this season as well. Bearss vs. Kaiser is a key match up. Both hit the heck out of people. Bearss was 2nd in points, Kaiser is one of the top Defense in the league. get it!

-Playoffs! Obviously, not every matchup has been solidified yet (although they will be before this PT closes). That being said, which (potential) matchup are you most excited about? Who do you think will be the key players on each end, and who do you think can pull out the wins?

Jets vs Dragons easily is the best series in the first round. This is the third time these two teams have played against each other in the last four seasons and it's finnaly time for the Jets to win. pls based sths god pls

GMs should definitely be paid. Honestly, being a GM is a lot of work for SHL or SMJHL. There's so much that goes into providing time and advice to each of your players, testing lines, talking trades, etc. The 40 people who do that really make this site go. While i'm biased a bit, it can help take the burden off of members who not only have to GM 24/7, but then need another job that gives a salary to make money OR write media still. There's a few GMs with jobs that if we got paid for GMing, we wouldn't have to hold the other positions, leaving spots for other members.

Most sim leagues tend to use the SHL as the example for a lot of the things they do. Yet this is the one area where the SHL needs to catch up to other places.

$5M to GM is extremely reasonable. I know that there's doubts about people just taking the money and doing nothing, but the HO should be monitoring that and if that becomes the case somewhere, they can remove the GM. This isn't hard people.

to be honest ... McZ should be paid with 100 million per year for being an active part in the SHL Hmm

Winnipeg/Calgary will be a fun one. Two titans facing off in the first round. I think Winnipeg will come out on top, though. Also looking forward to Buffalo/West Kendall in the East, of course. The last time Buffalo was in the playoffs (S37), Buffalo lost to WKP in 7 games (and my retiring player, Kaapo Kekkonen, was playing for WKP while I was GM of Buffalo.. lol)

Yes Gms should get paid. They do a ton of work to keep this league running. I believe HO should be paid as well but i get how they see it as a conflict.

IIHF is a fun thing in the off season. i think if they are gonna make it so players cant move after playing one game then yeah a player should have the right to sit out for a tournament, he risks losing his roster spot to another player though so hard choice.

I think GMs should get paid, but I might be a little bit biased on that. Like many other people said in the original thread, I don't think that most of us are looking for a huge paycheck when it comes to that. I'm perfectly okay with getting paid $2-3 million for it.

Shoutout to @adamantium for the sig! <3

There's been a lot of chatter about IIHF lately, though not entirely for the best reasons. Do you think players should be allowed to bench themselves without having to transfer out? Additionally, do you think the transfer rules are good as they stand? If not, what would you like to see in place of the system currently present?

I would like to see 1 additional transfer allowed for your player. Say you transfer to a nation in first season, then realize that with the current GM stepping down, the new one isn't really your type of Jam, sucks being locked in indefinitely.

Yes pay them, it's just another job on the SHL. And we pay every job. And beeing a good GM is hard work.
