General Standards
In the NHL people debate about what exactly makes someone a first line player or a starting goalie. In the SHL its much easier to quantify cause we have one stat which captures total player value. The only thing that complicates it is that some player don't know what the ideal builds and weaknesses are. But once players get high up enough in TPE they learn the jist of it. If we assume every team is equally talent the standards for different positions are.
Forward
1st Line - 1230 TPE
2nd Line - 779 TPE
3rd Line - 493 TPE
4th Line - 155 TPE
Now this comes with some caveats. If your 3rd line is all 493 players you'll likely have a hard time making the playoffs. Whats interesting to see is the distribution of TPE amongst teams in the league.
To compare TPE amongst teams is difficult. It would skew the data to compare the average TPE of every team, since some team have inactive scratches who don't play with low TPE who would kill the average. We could average the top 15, but that would give a single value which wouldn't show the team depth. Instead here is a bargraph of the total team TPE for the teams top 15 players but coloured in groups of 5. So the blue bar is the teams top five TPE players, the green bar is the teams 6-10th TPE players, and the yellow bar is the teams 11-15th TPE player.
Whats interesting is that it seems like the difference between the best and worst teams doesn't have as much to do with their top five as does their middle five. The standard deviation, relative to the lowest bracket, for each bracket is given below:
Top 5: 28.91
Middle 5: 53.69
Third 5: 0.00
The largest deviation is that middle group by far. This could be since a lot of guys tend to roughly max out and become content with their players, and so theres this top tier of players who are all roughly equal in TPE, and the teams which are contenders are contenders because they have those top tier guys in their 2nd line and 2nd pair not because their top tier players are better than other teams top tier players.

I've always been a little sceptical of TPE as a direct translation of talent. At some point those big earners just start to bank TPE so the difference between a 1900TPE guy and a 1700TPE could effectively be zero. It is a good indication of long term success though since regression will eventually come around.
