Bob Mckenzie Draft Preview
#1

The regular season has ended and for some SHL teams all that they have left to look forward to is the draft. We've polled the GM's in the SHL and we bring you our TSN draft rankings (I just went in the order of current TPE. Will consider actually doing some scouting and putting together who I think SHOULD go top 10.)

1, C raiders Leshaun King

First up we have the two-way Centre from Halifax. Leshaun King is a smart centre in his own end, plays a 200 foot game, has a wicked shot and skates like the wind. King isn't one to use his size, but the gentle giant should be a force in the SHL.

2, RW raiders Crush Cile

Second our list it questionable Crush Cile. He has all the skills and all the talent to be the best player from this draft but many SHL GMs say theres red flags around his willingness to take his game to the next level, either way the power forward has a wicked shot and is a physical force. If he decides to put it together there will be no stopping him.

3, LW Raptors Ignatius Blunt

Third on our list is speedy scoring winger from Colorado. His skating is elite, his scoring his even better and besides that he has a very well rounded game. Should be the type of first line scoring winger you can expect to carry the offensive load for an SHL club and lead a Power Play.

4, LW Whalers Luke Thomason

On a team full of veterans Luke Thomason has stood out. Luke is a unique player in that hes a playmaker who plays the wing. He has some of the best vision on the ice in this draft, is great in his own end and when he's holding the puck it's like he has it on a string. The soft handed winger will also look great as the go to option on the first line for any SHL team.

5, C Armada Jax Aittokallio

The second centre on our list is the next player in the Aittokallio family line. Jax is unique in that he's the first skater in his family to play in the SMJHL and soon to be the SHL. Jax has top end speed and generates chances by creating open ice more than he does with just a great shot. He's excellent in that shut down role as well. An excellent option for any team.

6, LW Raptors Philipp Winter

Philipp Winter will be a highly sout after prospect in this draft, some teams will have him as high as 1st or 2nd. He's your typical all around sniping winger. Can shoot, can skate and has amazing puck control. He plays a very similiar game to the first raptor on our list.

7, RW raiders Oliver Kovacs

Another playmaking winger, and the third raider on our list is Oliver Kovacs. Kovacs is the type of winger every centre loves to play with, a fast skater who opens up a lot of ice, has great play making ability and can hold his own in his own end.

8, C raiders Krištof Kovacs

The brother of the last name on our list, at number 8 Kristof Kovacs, the fourth raider to pop up. Kristof is an excellent match for his brother. He'll shoot the puck more, will win draws, and can keep up with his brother up and down the ice.

9, LW Raptors Gvidas Kazlauskas

Raptors and Raiders continue to fill our top 10. Gvidas has been a revealatin for Colorado. In a team full of rookie he has stood out. Another excellent scorer, excellent skater, a true sniping winger. Kazlauskas has turned heads this season and hopes to translate his success to the SHL.

10, LW Raptors Tony Pepperoni

Four raptors, four left wingers, all four snipers. The Raptors were loaded on the wing this year and Tony Pepperoni is another reason why. Tony is a very well balance player with an excellent shot. Tony will be an excellent concillation prize for anyone who misses out on the other Raptor wingers.

11, RW Whalers Carlo Russo

It's almost unfair that a team as good as Vancouver has two players in our top 12, but so is life. Russo is a scoring winger, but plays more of a two-way game than most snipers in this class. Carlo can skate and stickhandle as well as any of them and is the third right wing on our list.

12, LW Whalers Max Mauldin

Max Mauldin has not had the SMJHL rookie debut he liked but his talent is undeniable. Mauldin looks to be a steady presence on the wing for any SHL team, he'll be scoring goals for a long long time and any team that gets the claws on him will be very lucky (Claws... panthers... claws....)

13, D Falcons Tig Murphy

We finnally get to our first defensemen in an absurdly forward heavy draft. Tig Murphy is a stud in his own ended and can also move the puck up ice as well as anyone. He skates well, sees the ice and has an excellent first pass. Tig will anchor the falcons blue line for his SMJHL career and will likely do the same in the SHL.

14, RW Raptors Sulak O'Hritea

Its amazing how well the Raptors did this last SMJHL draft. Sulak, unlike the first few raptors is not a sniping winger. Sulak is more of a two-way force, excellent in his own end, the best of any forwar din this draft amd is more of a physical force and a play maker. Sulak is another winger poised for a long SHL career.

15, D raiders Pierre Laroche-Durocher

Only our second defencemen to pop up is PLD the physical force from Halifax. Pierre has been a dominant force for Halifax. He blocks shots, lays out big hits, and generally just wears the other team out. The mammoth from Quebec will be an excellent stay at home defensemen in the SHL.

The rest of our rankings (not even Bob types up on the second round picks)

Gonna bust your bracket when a smart team drafts the best goalie in the SMJHL in round one

I could see a team like Calgary doing that tbh. Richard C. Hocolate can only fight regression for so long.

Already drafted a goalie in Kata Vilde two seasons ago, so doubtful that they go goalie again anytime soon
