Game 1/3

Period 1

Welcome to our recap of the SMJHL rookie all-star series! Do we have a doozy for you. Game 1 got off to a doozy. 48 seconds in and the puck is in the Eastern conference zone. Kazlauskas wins the faceoff and the puck is back to O'Hritea. He rips the wrister! Shot wide! Gvidas picks up the loose puck and lets another one go! High and wide! Gvidas picks up his own rebound, another shot wide! Sulak is on the door step and he makes no mistakes! GOAL! West is up 1-0. The East responding, The Nicky Pedersen in on the break away a few possessions later, goes to the back hand Leitner with the save! Big rebound! Nicky is still on the door step banging a way! Leitner holds the fort and saves it without a rebound. Leitner was rock solid all period making 19 saves to keep it a 1-0 game.

Period 2

The west do what they did in the first and come out hot to start the second period. Big faceoff in the Eastern zone. Jax wins it back to Luke. Luke looking for options sees Kirkby open, goes for the pass Pierre Larcohe-Durcoher intercepts it! Holds it, goes to clear it to the neutral zone and Kirkby is there to take it back! Over to Blunt Blunt move the puck into the zone, dippsy-do's his way around the defender and IGNATIUS BLUNT ROOF DADDY! 2-0 Western Conference! Palicka's line is on and he wins the faceoff at centre ice, over to Rytmeyr and Rytmeyr stubles and loses the puck. Lil Manius is there to pick it up and takes it into the Western conference zone, coming in fast and he does the drop pass to Richter, over to Rytmeyr, back to  Richter, Manius has lost his defender during the back and forth, he's open on the side, Wolfhard spots him with the laser pass and Manius finishes what he started. Lead is cut to 2-1! Game stayed tight untill our.... TSN TURNING POINT!!! Manius after scoring the big goal gets called for the trip and the Western powerplay loads up. The West pulls off the set play, Russo wins the face-off straight back to Gvidas who wires it home! 3-1.  West keep it coming. Mauldin pots another from Tony Pepperoni and Carlo Russo then Tucker Baloo scores 19 seconds later from Winter and O'Hritea to make it 5-1 going into the third.

Period 3

We'll save you an uneventful third. The East packed the game in after going down 5-1, only generating five shots in the third period. The West take the first game 5-1

Game 2/3

Period 1

Well the East are down 1-0 in the best of three series. They need a big win here or game three will be just for fun and they'll have guaranteed a loss. The East will need a better start. Play begins in the Western zone and the dominate face off man Mr. Faceoffs is on the ice. He does what he does best and wins the faceoff clean back to team mate Craig Finley, too clean though! Finley doesn't expect it and its through his legs, Sean Steven races a head and grabs the puck, he hits the breaks and draws the other defender. He feeds it ahead to the streaking Rex Kirkby. Kirkby coming in hot 2 man break away, Pass to Bust, Bust fakes the pass back to Rex and hits the trailer Alex Winters. Winters fakes the shot over to Bust and he snipes it home 1-0 West. The East are in trouble! The fourth line is out for redemption and redemption they'll have. They hope on and get to the forecheck. Leitner has the puck and up to Jake Reid. Jake Reid think he has time but Mr. Faceoffs is on and him and bodies him for the puck. And sends it to the blue line to Kiki. Kiki to Ncky. Nicky to Kiko. Kiko to PLD. The EAST HAS THE PUCK ON A STRING! Durocher has it, passes it to Nicky, who tees up the one timer. Kevin Kazarian crashers the net and gets the tip ! Tie game! The West won't quit Max Mauldin will answer for the West and the East are down again and the again turn to the 4th line. The 4th line hopes on the ice mid rush. Richter carrying it for the East, two forwards crashing the net, Kevin Kazarian hangs back, gets the pass and wires it home to tie the game! 2-2 going into the 2nd.

Period 2

We have a tight game to start the second. Both teams playing smart. West trying to pick their chances, East can't afford to let one in here. We fast forward to five minutes left in the second. Jax Aittokalli wins the faceoff in the Western zone and moves the puck back to Luck Thomason. The stud playmaker is looking over his options. He goes for the break out and Max Egger stretches out to pick off the pass, great smart stick for the Raiders defender! Egger moves it to teammate Finley, Finley skates it up and passes it back to Egger. Egger spots Nicky Pedersen, Pedersen can't take the pass and fumbles the puck but Egger is there to pick it up. Egger has some room, skates in LOADS UP THE SLAPPER! AND.. NO he doesn't shoot, its a fake passes it to NIckey, the goalie bit and Nicky has an open cage for the  goal!!! 3-2 into the third.

Period 3

We have five minutes left in the third with the West pressing and we take you to our TSN TURNING POINT!!! West is buzzing in the offensive zone. Badum Tuch just layed out Lil Manius to take the puck. He moves it to Badum Tuch. Over to Eero Neimi, back to Winters, back to Tuch over to Baloo, over to Winters, Pass to Niemi!!! Petr Vrana is skating side to side trying to follow the puck. BUST is left open, back to Bust, who wires it and G... NO! NO! VRANA SAVES IT! Petr Vrana with the save of the game. Vrana would come up big late with multiple saves to lock it up and tie the series at 1 a piece. It's now a winner take all game 3.

Game 3/3

1st period

Well ladies and gentleman it all comes down to this. Bragging rights of which conference it the best conference. Decided by one game. So far the West has scored first each game, but the east getting two early opportunities with Power Plays. Blunt gets dinged 5 seconds in for hold, which the West would kill off but then Bust gets hit for slashing at 6:41 a call he is not happy about. Penalty kill is going well for the Westn when Kirkyby dumps it deep and goes for the change. But Petr Vrana skates way up ice to get the dump as the blue line and sends it up ice to catch them on the change. Hippo Passamus with the puck. With eyes in the back of the head sees Kiko Rytmetr skaing in with speed. Kiko in and the west PK'rs are scrambling. Kirkby couldn't get off dives infront of Kiko, Kiko slides to over to Egger. Callum MacElroy there and he dives to block it. Egger back to Hippo who wires a shot! Catching everyone off guard, nobody expecting Hippo to shoot, But wait it's not a shot! It's intentionally wide off the back board pass to Kiko Rytmeyr who wires it home 1-0 East! The West is struggling out of the gate. But a huge earth shaking hit by ALEX WINTERS on GOKU and GOKU is down!!! Faceoff did not like that and is yelling at Winters from the bench. Winters blows him a kiss and the energy shifts to the West. Petr Vrana is under seige. Jax Aittokallio is in the offensive zone. Looking for options, Sees LUke, Luke to Blunt and Blunt wires it but Wolfhard Rihcter with the diving block. Blunt picks it up lets it rip and Vrana with the big size and a bigger rebound. Stevenson picks up the puck, shots, deflected by blunt and the puck HITS THE POST!! (Yes actually in Simon T it says it hit the post, didn't even know that was an option). Aittokallio is there and he cleans up the mess! Tieing it a 1. Under 3 minutes left in the first now and Crush Cile called for the hook! The West have a change to respond with their own power play. Tig Murphy late in the kill has the puck behind his own net, rips it up the ice but not out of the zone. Eero Niemi has it on the side board. Russo twistying and turning to lose his defender gets open and Niemi spots him for the nice look and Russo scores to make it 2-1 West heading into the second.

2nd period

The East is looking flat. No energy, the late powerplay goal really took the wind out of their sales. But amongst this Mr. Faceoffs is out for blood this period, he has not forgotten what Alex Winters did to Goku. Will get get Winters to bite on the fight? Yes!! They drop the gloves! Before Winters gloves hit the ice Mr. Faceoffs is all over him, feeding him one shot after another, oh lord, I'm not sure if its fair that Winters gets a 5 minute penalty for this fight, he's already taken enough damage. Faceoff skates off the and east bench is ecstatic. Goku's line comes on the ice next and comes over to give Faceoffs a tap in the box before taking the faceoff. Goku wins the face-off in the Western conference zone. Sends the puck back to Nicholas Williams. Goku goes straight for the net. Williams sees Adam Taylor, over to him, Taylor back to Tig Murphy. Murphy fakes one pass, gets some space, fakes another, more room. Slides it over to Williams who rips it for the goal!!! Only seconds after the fight the game is knotted at two's! Wooh baby, do we have a game. Two games and two periods later and we have settled nothing, it is all tied up and we now go to a winner take all third period.

3rd period

We start the period with a big penalty by Craig Finley for Hooking. The East lose a key defender for the penalty kill. And the Wests power play is ready to go. Puck is dumped into the Easts zone by Alex Winters, and the teams change lines. Hippo picks up the puck and dumps it back into the West zone while his team completes the change. Leitner skates up again to catch the East on the change. He sees Gvidas open, firing it up to him. Gvidas with the quick tap pass to a s treak Eero Niemi. IN ALONE!!!! SCORES!! 3-2 and the West has the lead. Tight game continues until 13:19 of the third where Rex Kirkby gets 2 for rough. The East has there chance to tie the game. The West being aggressive in the kill forcing the east to ice the puck twice. And the East can't get a shot on net with the power play. Three minutes left and the East pull the goalie. Tony Pepperoni has the puck and is absolutely reefed by Faceoffs. Puck is free and Pedersen scoops it up close to the net, he lets it rip and LEITNER stones him! Ensuing faceoff is won by Marc Palicka over to Crush Cile and the sniper gets a great look, open cage... NO! AGAIN Letiner saves the day. Mauldin is on the ice, trying to do something to get the puck out of his end. Wins the faceoff over Mr. Faceoffs, gets the puck to skate it up and Pierre Laroche-Durocher CRUSHES HIM! Craig Finley has the puck, shoots! Jake REID DIVES to block it Adam Taylor has it. 17 seconds on the clock, hes alone with Leitner one on one, sees some net above the glove. SHOOTS!!!! NO GOAL FOR YOU! Leitner scoops it up. 16 seconds left faceoff in the Western zone. Mr. Faceoffs is on for the big draw. and... HE GETS EJECTED. Crush comes in. Crush loses the faceoff easily. Carlo wins it and sends it to Luke Thomason. Thomason sees a chance to get it out, sends it to Rex Kirkby. Kirkby skating it out of trouble, and over to Luke. Luke in the eastern zone with the empty net, will he shoot?! NO! He passes and Tig Murphy is there to pick it off. tig offer to Pierre, PLD sends it up to Kevin Kazarian. Kazarian streaking in, alone, clock is at 19:59! No time left Kevin Shoots! Goes five hole on Leitner! The puck squirts through Letiners pads .... GOOAAALLLL!!!! WAIT !!! NO!!  The puck doesn't cross the blue line, the clock runs out just as Letiner turns around to cover the puck. And the West win the All-Star Series!
