The players agent stated on twitter this morning that “Rumors are Forward DeMaricus Smyth is being shopped”, following “DeMaricus Smyth will be on the move and it looks like there are a couple teams in the hunt. Hearing word that it is going to be a similar style as his former teammate Liam O'Callaghan.” These rumors have not been confirmed, but taking the route Liam O’Callaghan took would mean signing a deal with Seattle, then being shipped to a different team. Reports out of Seattle are that the team wants to keep Smyth on the team, and that he is a player that the team wants to treat as a franchise player that they build the team around. It’s been confirmed that Alexander Zajac, Johnny Yuma and retiring defenseman Matej Elias will extend with the Seattle Riot. FA Center Jonathan Lundberg close to a deal JONATHAN LUNDBERG A league source has confirmed that the New England Wolfpack are also in “hot pursuit of Lundberg too.” Jonathan Lundbergs agent appears to have made it clear that his client is very close to a deal with an Eastern team, likely the North Stars or the Wolfpack. He has yet to confirm a deal with any team, due to teams targeting other free agents before confirming a deal. It seems that these teams are also pursuing Demaricus Smyth and Spitfire. Expect a flood of contract deals to come at once in the next few days. EDMONTON BLIZZARD The Edmonton Blizzard have been buzzing lately on the trade market, with league sources reporting that the team is looking to get younger. Managers are asking the team about the services of winger Ace Redding and defenseman Chippy Chiclets. It seems unlikely that the team moves Chippy Chiclets, but looking for talks about Redding begin to heat up. Remember the strange contract LKS signed 2 seasons ago? LUDWIG KOCH SCHRODER Two seasons ago, the West Kendall Platoon announced a 2 season contract deal with top defenseman Ludwig Koch Schroder with a clause that the defenseman has “permission to talk with any team and/or GM for the entire duration of the contract.” Just under a week ago, the Platoon announced that the defenseman would be returning to the team for another season, but it is unclear if the defenseman still has this clause or not. Trade talks around the defenseman have been ongoing since LKS signed the contract two seasons ago, and have appeared to be heating up leading up to this extension. It is unclear weather the team is still considering trading the star defenseman, though it’s very possible that he’s shipped off in the near future. It’s believed that LKS wants to play elsewhere but at the same time wants the Platoon to have a solid return. The defenseman is entering his 8th season with West Kendall. VIATCHESLAV ORLOV Teams are calling the Winnipeg Jets about defenseman Viatcheslav Orlov. It appears that Winnipeg management are seriously considering some offers on the defenseman, but are going to retain the defenseman unless they can find a younger defenseman to substitute for him. It appears that the New England Wolfpack, Minnesota Chiefs and Toronto North Stars are interested in acquiring the player.
