Gareth Rush Fires Agent; Future Uncertain

NEW YORK - SMJHL Rookie, Gareth Rush, fired agent Simon Proulx on Sunday, just days before his on-ice suspension is set to end.
The rookie center released the following statement to the press:

“I want to thank Simon for his time and efforts in bringing me to North America, but I have not been happy with his representation as of late.

The Proulx Firm brought me to the United States with dreams of SHL stardom and thus far, it’s been nothing but one negative press item after another. My reputation in the league remains relatively young but somewhat damaged. There were times others around me advised that I take a specific route, but I had put my trust in Simon and his firm in every situation.

Simon’s advice to reject the Colorado Raptors initial contract offer completely backfired. It was a decision I did not feel right about, but again, I put my trust in him and his firm. It was advice designed with the intent to suck more money out of the franchise, but it ultimately caused more harm than good. I had my heart set on playing in Colorado and made the mistake of allowing the greed of my agent to get in the way.

I apologize to the Colorado Raptors, their management, and the fans for the fiasco. I have great respect for the franchise but lost me head when the whole situation unraveled. Of course, it was me fault and all parties have moved on.

I remain pleased to be a member of the St. Louis Crows and appreciate their front office for taking a chance on me when everyone said I wouldn’t see the ice this season.

There’s some members of Crows’ past that continue to slug around the franchise for reasons unknown to me. Some of these members don’t care for my wearing a Crows uniform and continue to go out of their way to make me feel uncomfortable. I remain convinced there’s a scheme of some veterans to try and force me to quit, to walk away … or get me ass suspended again.

The Crows sit in first place and we seem poised to make the Four Stars Cup run the fans of St. Louis deserve. I predicted this on draft night. I said whatever team drafted Gareth Rush would be competing for a championship. Where I was wrong was me role in this whole thing. I’m spending more time on the Crows bench than the ice. Again, this is something I have taken issue with Simon and the way he has managed me career.

It’s not Simon’s job to play for me, but I was not prepared for it. I would have stayed in Ireland if I knew it was fookin fourth line here. But I digress … apparently me defense is the problem. I would have easily worked on me defense if it weren’t for a fookin suspension that covered the entire preseason and first five games.

Only in the SMJHL and SHL does a five game suspension also encompass the entire preseason.

The leagues are ran like complete shit and most of the team managers are brainless, little trolls. Part of me wants to say, “fook it”, back to Ireland. Part of me wants to stay and do what I set out to do. And if I do, there will be a lot of work involved. To stay is to work throughout and around a front office, general managers, and players, who continue to berate and hold me back.

Fook ‘em. I'm not interested in rebuilding me image. That's not what I'm doing here. But I felt the need to lay out some facts. Lord Stanley knows, there's plenty of ... slow people in this league.”

Several calls to The Proulx Firm, looking for comment, were not returned.
