![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After beating Crows Center Roger Baston in a face-off, Raptors Center Konstantin Voloshin dishes the puck to his Right Winger Vladimir Vaskov who manages to skate it into the neutral zone, right by the top D pair of St. Louis. Vaskov then dishes it to Nico Wallner to gain the offensive zone, where the Raptors pull off a tight tic-tac-toe...tac-toe-tac-toe ending with Raptors Left Winger Gvidas Kazlauskas sneaking one by Crows Goalie Aleister Cain. The puck changed sticks 10 times in the 30 seconds after the face-off, leaving St. Louis scratching their heads. Code: 2:15 of 1st period - Konstantin Voloshin wins face-off versus Roger Baston in Colorado Raptors zone. Later in the period, Crows Center Gareth "Garth" Rush, beats Raptors Center Keegan Angello in a defensive zone face-off. On the ensuing forecheck, Raptors Right Winger Eren Yeager takes a Holding Minor against Crows Right Winger Jurij Kovacic, putting the Scarecrows up on the Power Play. Finding the opportunity mid change up, the first Power Play Forward line and the second Power Play Defense pair for the Crows opened up a shooting gallery against Raptors Goalie Scotty Crawfling. The Crows register an impressive 4 shots in 6 seconds, before Gordie Maple finally sends it home between the posts to tie up the game. Code: 16:14 of 1st period - Shot by Nicholas Williams. 2nd Period
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The first minute of this 2nd period was total madness out on the ice with 8 minutes of penalties being earned by 3 unique players. Crows Left Winger Adam Taylor starts us off with an Interference Minor after slapping Gvidas Kazlauskas' stick out of his hands right as he received a clean pass from teammate Kevin Maddox. Shortly after starting the Penalty Kill, Crows Center Roger Baston dumps the puck to relieve some pressure and get a line change. However, as Baston was leaving the ice, Raptors Left Winger Philipp Winter gets the puck caught in Baston's skates and they tangle up awkwardly. Since Baston had his stick up to leave the ice, he received a double Minor for High Sticking while Winter gets a Holding Minor of his own. Code: 0:44 of 2nd period - Minor Penalty to Adam Taylor for Interference. Most of the period was quiet after that, until minute 16 when the entire squad of -1 Crow players took the ice together. Ignited by the 1st period frustrations, Crows Defensemen Helmuts Akmenlauks made a clean breakaway off a feed from Adam Taylor and carried the puck deep into the Raptors zone. With plenty of room, the Crows get shots from both Taylor and Akmenlauks but it was ultimately Crows Defensemen Kiko Rytmeyr who scores what would be the Game Winning Goal through the legs of Scottey Crawfling. With that, the entire Crows team returned to a neutral goal differential and remained that way for the rest of the game. Code: 16:57 of 2nd period - Shot by Adam Taylor. 3rd Period
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The 3rd period spelled disaster for the Raptors as they tallied 6 minutes of penalties on three unique players. Two of these penalties came in quick succession, with only 18 seconds of even strength separating them. To make matters worse, the last penalty at 17:17 left the Raptors with only 43 seconds of even strength to end the game. In the exciting final minute, the Raptors pull Goalie Scottey Crawfling to bolster their offense. Philipp Winter nearly loses control of the game when he gets creamed by Helmuts Akmenlauks against the boards, but he is able to regain control of the puck and keep it through another assault from Akmenlauks. With a second of peace, he sneaks the puck out to Gvidas Kazlauskas who rips a one-timer wide of the net. Raptors Center Tony Pepperoni regains the puck and has a second chance, but Aleister Cain is able to hold onto it. Roger Baston wins the defensive zone face-off and gets the puck to Crows Defensemen Samuel Jalopski by way of Alternate Captain Bernard Freeman. Jalopski disarms the Raptors offense by safely dumping the puck down ice and they are unable to come back for another scoring opportunity. Code: 19:22 of 3rd period - Colorado Raptors, Scottey Crawfling is pulled from the net. ![]() Registered processed.
Some quick little facts between these two teams:
St Louis and Colorado have played 2 matches prior to this one, Games 3 and 7, sharing the spoils with a win each. The Scarecrow's Brock Nuck managed to pick up an assist in each one of these games, the only player on his team to achieve this feat. After a misfire in the first match, Gordie Maple of St Louis grabbed 4 points in the next 2. No player on the Raptor's roster managed to register a point in all three games, with Konstantin Voloshin drawing a blank in Game 7, tarnishing an otherwise sound record of 4 points against the Scarecrows. After letting in 4 goals off 9 shots in the first period of Game 3 and being hooked, Goalie Aleister Cain came back with a vengeance in 7 and 25, saving 62 out of 64 shots and thoroughly earning his place in the starting lineup. ![]() Registered S37 Challenge Cup Champion and Jake Long the American Dragon
3 Stars of the Game
1st star: Aleister Cain Aleister Cain absolutely put his team on his back in this game saving 33 out of 34 total shots. The Crows were doing alright in the first period, out shooting their opponents, but as the game went on the Raptors began to dominate. If it wasn't for the stellar performance from Cain the Crows would have been finished in this game. 2nd star: Gvidas Kazlauskas A star player from Lithuania, Kazlauskas knows how to score. He lived up to his name as a sniper in this game as well and opened the scoring off an an assist from Konstantin Voloshin. He remained eager to score throughout the night with four shots and two solid hits. 3rd Star: Vladimir Vaskov Vladimir Vaskov was man who had the secondary assist on the first goal of the game for the Raptors. Other than his productivity on that play Vladimir managed to shoot the puck on net three times and contribute with three hits as well. The ESPN player of the game is... from the St. Louis Scarecrows... Brock Nuck!
Brock Nuck only had one point which was an assist on the game tying goal in the first period. Nuck was a beast though with a crazy five shots! and an equally crazy three hits in this game. This is especially impressive since Brock Nuck is on the teams third line with Ty Hoover and Jerry Larry. But was still the best player on the ice tonight. St. Louis having such strong depth is likely what will make them cup contenders this spring. The scarecrows and falcons will likely be meeting in the finals. ![]() Registered Posting Freak
Comment One:
Timo Haas' Goalie of the Game Tonight saw a goaltending duel but only one man can come out on top. Our man tonight is the Crows Aleister Cain. Stopping 33 of 34 shots over three periods and being the leader the Crows needed puts him ahead of Colorado's Scottey Crawfling. Cain was only beaten once by Colorado's Gvidas Kazlauskas, but after that early goal the young goaltender stood on his head, stopping 33 shots, and putting up an impenetrable wall in the final period, which saw the Raptors outshoot the Crows 12-7. If Cain continues to play like this, the St Louis Scarecrows could be hoisting a cup at the end of the season. Incredible game from the goaltender and one that will inspire confidence going forward. [121 Words] Comment Two: Unsung Hero(es) brought to you by Virgin Mobile Tonight's unsung hero award goes to Helmuts Akmenlauks of the St Louis Scarecrows. While still posting a point in the win, his physical play and willingness to give up his body for a win makes him a valuable member of the Crows squad. Finishing the night with 1 assist, 4 hits, and 1 blocked shot, the Scarecrows defender showed he is a valuable member of the team and one of the most versatile. His block came at a time in the game when Cain was being barraged and making sure your goaltender does not have to face more shots is always valuable. He also laid the wood on the Raptors team in this game. Collecting four hits and punishing his opponents each time. [123 Words] Comment Three: Carl's Jr. Star of the Game Already mentioned in the goaltender of the game section. Goalie Aleister Cain was the Carl's Jr. Star of this game. Putting up 33 saves and being the reason his team stole this game, Cain has shown that he can rise to the occasion. The young goaltender has a lightning fast glove and positions himself so well that when he is on, nobody is going to score on him. His ability to rise to the occasion was the difference in the matchup and adds a lot of momentum to a Scarecrows team that is already performing well and expected to be one of the top teams in the SMJHL this season. With solid offense, great defense, and an amazing goaltender, the squad can do anything. Aleister Cain might be the number one reason this team goes as far as they can. [140 Words] ![]() ![]() ![]() Coach back since like 2 IRL years ![]() Tomen's goalie of the game: Aleister Cain: Why? Because he literally outperformed Scottey Crawfling in all available goalie statistics. He had a superb Save % with 97.06% on 34 shots compared to Crawfling who had 92.59% on 27 shots. Cain also allowed way less rebounds with a percentage of only 9.09% compared to the raptors goalie with 32.%. Aleister Cain also just had a way lower Bad rebound% than Scottey Crawfling with 33.33% to 87.50%. Cain played an essential part in the Scarecrows win in this game. Crawfling's high bad rebound % allowed to Scarecrows to actually score the game winning goal after a rebound by him which again shows that Crawfling had overall a good performance but just not as stellar as the Scarecrows goalie Cain. ![]() Thank you all for the amazing sigs & player cards ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 3.
