Task 1

No team making the playoffs this season is any more surprising the Colorado Raptors. During the trade deadline, they managed to trade off almost their entire roster of capped players. The general manager traded away his own player, they traded away capped players, and yet they still went on an amazing seven game winning streak to end the season and make the playoffs. They managed to eliminate the Montreal militia in five games, and took that series no problem. And beat the second round of the playoffs forcing themselves into the finals. In a season that was considered a throwaway and where they decided to go on a full rebuild, they broke all expectations by making it to The Cup finals. Feel like there is no better way to then truly miraculous. To all the guys in Colorado, congratulations on a greet season and I hope that next season the Militia beat you.

Task 3 -

After a very uninspiring rookie campaign, my season highlight was being promoted to first line center and more than doubling my points. Being on the first line, and getting time on the power play, I managed to get career highs and goals points and assist. I did finish this season with less penalty minutes than I did last season, although I'm still kind of frustrated that I took a five-minute fighting major for my first penalty of the season. My expectations moving forward next season, I really hope to be one of the top centers in the SMJHL for my last season here. I'm hoping that through a strong draft, Montreal will be able to compete for the cup and hopefully hoist it my last season in the SMJHL for quite a while. Regardless of what happens, I want everyone on Montreal to know that I'm honored to be a part of this team and I'm very excited to finish out my career here.

Task 8.5 -

After much consideration, I have decided that I will be making my trip to the Finals to see a game in Winnipeg! This decision was mostly decided by the fact that when I go to Google Maps and type in West Kendall, all I get is a bunch of streets around the city of Boston. I'm pretty familiar with Boston, and I don't recall any sports teams around here that are called West Kendall located inside of Boston and as such I think of a better idea might be to go to Winnipeg - where at least somebody knows where it is. Plus, I like the cold weather. Unless @Samee knows where West Kendall, Massachusetts is. Maybe Puerto Rico?

Task 1:

It feels like only a short while ago that Winnipeg was always a top favourite to be in the mix for the Challenge Cup but the past few seasons have been tougher for them. Frustrated with being a bridesmaid and never the bride; the Jets made a management change to rebuild the winning culture they had grown accustomed to. It would appear that the new GM has gotten the hang of his new job; the GMs new coach has the team performing at a great level and they are poised to take home a Championship ring. The Jets former manager built a great roster but it grew stagnant and I believe that the new blood that flows through the team's higher-ups is the reason for their surge. West Kendall is no slouch either, the Platoon has been a top team for a long time. Beating the Platoon would be a true testament to the team's new directors.

Task 3:

Liam O'Callagahn left the Seattle Riot for the Texas Renegades this offseason and it is hard to pinpoint one specific moment as the highlight. O'Callaghan was very pleased with his individual season; he set career highs across the board and finished top 3 in many of the major statistics for defenders. O'Callaghan is also hopeful that he did enough to get nominated for the Stevens trophy, even if he doesn't win. What might be Liam's favourite memory of the season is the overall camaraderie that he felt all season with the Texas boys. Liam always felt like family from the minute he walked in and battling with these players for a playoff berth really forged that strong connection. The family feel is definitely what drew Liam here in free agency and the fact that that feeling only got stronger as the season progressed has the young Irish rear guard excited for the future.

Task 3
For Reginald Rove highlights were a little tough to come by this season. By all intents and purposes it was a down year for the Manhattan Rage left winger this season. He finished the season with five less goals and six less assists (eleven points less in total). While minor improvements were made to his plus minus and hits, they were relatively close to numbers he’s had since his rookie season. I think the biggest accomplishment for Rove this season was his first career hat trick. While obviously he just had a good night, I think a three goal game means a little more for a player. In a way having an explosive game like that is sort of a signifier that they have established themselves in the league. No SHL defense is going to easily give up three goals, especially not to the same player, so to have done that is really something special, especially when you consider that Rove is not known for his goal scoring ability by any means.

Task 4:
SENT

Task 8:
3. Wow this is a tough one, the goalies are so close this season. That being said, I think I have to give the edge to Artom Zhubayev, for a couple reasons. First, although having the same save percentage as Biscuit, he did have a slightly better goals averaged against, with 2.64 compared to 2.66. The other reason that clinched it in my mind was his shutout advantage, which was two to zero. While the edge is only slight, I think Zhubayev gets it.
4. I think Rex Kirby of the West Kendall Platoon is destined to have a solid career for the Platoon. This season, his rookie season, he scored 18 points, which in and of itself is pretty commendable especially considering the caliber of the team he is on. Furthermore, of those 18 points, 16 were assists, which I think is a good thing because it means he has a key role in the offense already and can further develop that as time goes on.
5. In a very clear cut decision I’m booking my tickets to West Kendall. I’m not sure anything could beat going to the beach in the middle of the winter, especially when going to Miami is also roped in as a package deal. When its this cold out I can’t imagine that anyone would choose going to Winnipeg over Miami.

TASK 1: (Written, 3 TPE)
Choose one team in the series and talk about the steps they took to make the finals. Was it a free agent signing, or an MVP player, or trades, etc. Must be 150 words.

When talking about the success that the Winnipeg Jets have experienced thus far in their winning season, it would be hard not to mention the standout forward Jason Visser. Managing to tally an outstanding 47 points throughout the regular season, Visser lead his entire team in point scoring as well as made it to the top 17 in scoring in the entire SHL. While it is not as high as other team's leading forwards might be, what should be noted is how defensively focused he is, this is reflected in his plus/minus stat which totaled in at +22, tied for second in the league. Looking over the team's stat sheets and point totals, you can easily make the assumption that defensively focused hockey is getting them to where they need to be, and it will be interesting to see how they fare up against the fast firing offense of the West Kendall Platoon.

TASK 3: (Written, 3 TPE)
In 150 words or more write about the top highlight of your season. whether it be your first goal, your first hat trick, first shutout, clinching playoffs, getting a career high in something, etc. Must be hockey related.

While it was another disappointing season that came and went with the Kelowna Knights, Vlad Konstantin managed to lead the league in point totals for all of SMJHL scoring. Despite missing five games due to suspension, Konstantin beat out the second best scorer by just a point, totaling 57 points for the entire season. While it's not a career high by any means, Vlad Konstantin has a lot to be proud of this season, especially when it came to mentoring the fast young players Kelowna picked up in the recent draft as well as leading the league for shot percentage for players with more than 30 shots. Vlad will be returning to Kelowna next season and it will be left to seen whether he can lead the franchise to a successful season in the juniors, especially noting how much the rookies will have improved in terms of TPE by then.

3.  Between Beaujeaux Biscuit and Artom Zhumbayev which star goalie has the advantage over the other in this series?

While both goalies are remarkably close in terms of stats, I would have to give the advantage to Artom Zhumbayev. Zhumbayev has proven to have a lot of poise when it comes to defending the net in clutch situations and in an environment like the SHL Finals it is a must that you have the poise to deal with high pressure.

4.  Choose 1 young player from each team (either on their roster or a prospect of theirs) who you believe will be there teams next great player and why?

From the Winnipeg Jets, I firmly believe that Troy McClure III will be this league's next star defenseman. Already heavily improved and ripe for the SHL, he is almost certain to be a rookie of the year contender given his training input and current skill level since being drafted. He will be one of if not the best defensive rookie in the league next season and his stats will certainly show for it.

5.  You want to buy tickets, hotel stay and airfair for one of the games in this series and you have to decide between a trip to West Kendall or Winnipeg.. what city did you choose and why?

I would have to go with West Kendall. It is in the heart of Florida and nothing would beat a nice vacation on the beach especially in the winter time. Nothing wrong with Winnipeg, just do not have much interest in flying to stay somewhere as cold as Canada this winter.

This is a unique one. The Jets. What did they do? Nothing, and that really everything they needed to do. After last season most would have guessed that they would go out and go after a high end free agent, or make some big blockbuster trade, but they didnt. They stayed the course, and here they are, again. Their veteran players are still producing and still leading this team. The roster today is very similar to that from 5 seasons ago. The Jets have been drafting well, and more importantly, retaining top end talent for 10+ seasons now. Never really blowing it up, or making knee jerk reactions. They have stayed the course and have reaped the rewards. This is a team that is consistently at the top of the league where other team who have had success have just been a flash in the pan. Either winning a cup and then falling in the standing the next season, or making one big push with a group of FAs. Not the Jets.

Vasily Horvat is not one to have to many highlight moments, so when thinking back to the end of another very close finish, only 1 thing really stands out, and its a minor one when you think of what others have accomplished. At the end of this season Horvat finished the season with 1781 hits in his SHL career. All of them while wearing a Renegades sweater. This leaves him only half way to the top as the SHL all time leader, but Horvat has never been concerned with the rest of the league. What this has done for him is place him as the #1 Renegade of all time in hits. The Renegades acquired Horvat in a low risk trade with the Jets back in S33 and not many people predicted his career would span as long as it has. Even if he hasn’t lead in any other category, this is the one where he is sure to have left a lasting legacy in the one franchise that gave him a shot.

For my player, Geezus Kryyst, the highlight of my season was getting my first opening day start.  This might be considered a weird choice by some, especially considering we lost 2-1 to Toronto.  I chose this is my highlight because it marked the first time in my career that the team was mine.  I started most of the games last year for Hamilton, but I didn’t take over until a decent portion of the season had been over.  This adds a lot of pressure to my player as a lot rides on the goalies performance.  As I mentioned earlier, we lost that game 2-1 on home ice, but only one of the goals was at even strength.  Additionally, I was named 2nd star for that game for making 33 saves on 35 shots.  Hamilton did go on to make the playoffs this season, which was a goal, however we did get swept by the evil empire of the SHL, West Kendall.  Hopefully next year we can put them down like the dogs they are.

If I were to choose a game to attend, it would be Winnipeg. It’s not even a choice. Winnipeg just seems like a much cooler place to go. I’ve never been to Canada for one, and two, everything that comes out of Florida just seems so crazy. Once I were in Winnipeg, I could attempt to claim asylum so I could stay in Canada forever. That would be awesome.

Task One
The Winnipeg Jets are one of the most winning teams in the history of the SHL and that over all era. The Jets signed one Free Agents and it was Spitfire from New England Wolfpack who was traded to the Edmonton Blizzard in the offseason before the Free Agency did start. Spitfire was in the 1st two round the most important Defender for the Winnipeg Jets and with they he is a coreplayer also a good addition to the roster. In the Finals they are leading the Cup series what I heard today in the Discord Messenger. Since I am Golfing after the reg season I didnt have so much time to follow the SHL Playoffs. The Winnipeg Jets have also still the Superstar Jason Visser in the roster who can decide every game by himself. With him its easy to win each game if he has a good day.

Task Three
My Highlight of the year is missing the playoffs. Yes of course it was bad to be eliminated but I was GOLIFING over the world and it was fun. Two weeks I was at home in Germany and the GOLFING was also wonderful at home. After that I was GOLFING through the rest of europe for landing in Egypt. The GOLFING at the Pyramids were amazing so I did want the same at the Hagia Sophie in Istanbul of Turkey. As I was done GOLFING at this places I went in Peru at Machu Picchu and this was incredible! My GOLFING was the best in my world until that day. Finally I went to Cambodia and had GOLFING at the Angkor Wat. So I had a wonderful free GOLFING time. Play in Playoffs and GOLFING over the world can be great anytime and any place. so I hope you all can see now that you can have it also wonderful if you miss the playoffs.

I will go with Zhumbayev. To be honest decide for one is hard because I like both but I know Zhumbayev longer than Biscuit and I hope he can understand me on that. Both are good and won something but this time I believe Zhumbayev will be the key-factor of the Cup Finals and will lead his team to the Cup win.

Task 1:
The Winnipeg Jets built out an extraordinary team for this season. They even managed to bring defenseman Spitfire to the team in free agency, which I believe helped them greatly for their cup run. Spitfire scored the second most point in the team as a defenseman in the playoff, only one point behind Max Weber. Unlike Weber, though, he had a game winning goal in the 12 games they had played before the finals in the playoff. Other than that, the Winnipeg Jets are just stacked. They have Pietra Volkova, Zach Evans, Kyle Kylrad, Corey Bearss and Jason Visser as their main forward core. Those are some deadly players. Three of them (Volkova, Kylrad, Bearss) have six goals in the twelve games. Visser isn’t too far behind with five. Most of this is thanks to master playmaker Zach Evans who had 10 assists since the start of the playoff. I think overall the Winnipeg Jets had a scary team and they are now flexing their muscles.
166

Task 3:
Oisin Fletcher had a great season, without any doubt, as he finished the season as the top pointer and the top goal scorer of the season. This is a feat in itself. Despite being overshadowed for MVP by the Toronto North Stars goaltender, I am happy of the season he had. I will probably remember especially his multipoint nights through the season. Two of them come in my mind when I mention that. The first one is the night where the Edmonton Blizzard hosted the New England Wolfpack. Against his old team, Fletcher let loose, managing to have a hat trick, and added an assists to the feast. The second night was when the Edmonton Blizzard visited the Seattle Riot. In that night, Fletcher had a goal and three apples, helping greatly to win the game. I really like this game as Oisin Fletcher managed to have a great impact on the game, having more than half the possible point he could gain on both those games.

Task 4:

Task 8:
3.  Between Beaujeaux Biscuit and Artom Zhumbayev which star goalie has the advantage over the other in this series?
I think Beaujeaux Biscuit have avantage over Artom Zhumbayev for this series. The simple reason is that Beaujeaux Biscuit is a hot goalie when I sim and he’s in the final. He won 2 cups already and two gold medals. I even had him begging me to never stop simming as his goaltender is successful when I preach Simon Tremblay’s will.
61

4.  Choose 1 young player from each team (either on their roster or a prospect of theirs) who you believe will be there teams next great player and why?
I think right wing Lil’ Manius will be a force for the Winnipeg Jets in the future. He is a head above anyone else in his draft class and already show a lot of talent. On the West Kendall Platoon side, I believe that it is will be Rex Kirkby, a defenseman, that will be the corner stone of his team’s blue line in the future.
66

5.  You want to buy tickets, hotel stay and airfair for one of the games in this series and you have to decide between a trip to West Kendall or Winnipeg. what city did you choose and why?
I would think that I would go to West Kendall to see one of the finals game. The reason is that I do not play as much the eastern conference team now and I only go in West Kendall once during the season. It would be crazy to think I would not take the opportunity to go in Florida. If I want to go to Winnipeg, I could almost walk there.

Choose one team in the series and talk about the steps they took to make the finals. Was it a free agent signing, or an MVP player, or trades, etc. Must be 150 words.

The defending champion West Kendal Platoon did what most teams do, kept the boys together. They brought in Camron Dubois however he has not been a massive offensive dynamo. Bojo who, for the most part seemed to struggle as far as his years were concerned seemed to turn it on in the playoffs posting a .916 SV% and 2.65 GAA is not so bad and the team, as usual, has rallied around him. Lead by the likes of Dani Foster, Trevor Wilson, and Alex Light, this team is banging their way to a back to back. Foster lead the way in the regular season, but Wilson is the man of the playoffs and a Challenge Cup win will be the kicker to give him the MVP award for sure. Downing Hamilton in 5 before getting into a knife fight with the Minnesota Chiefs that came down to the wire, these guys are tried and true and should have no problem getting the job done in the Challenge Cup finals.

TASK 3: (Written, 3 TPE)

As we all know Richard Physt is not known for his scoring. But this season saw both career highs in goals (6) and powerplay points (4) A new area of surprises for him. Career highs in hits (149) as well. Add in his blocked shots (76) and you have a whopping 225 scoring chances stopped in 50 games by Physt ALONE. That is 4.5 per game shut down on a stacked Stars defense. In a year of firsts and bests, Richard Physt managed a memorable night, driving the offense against the Hamilton Steelhawks with a 4 point performance. Being a positive player for the first time since he broke into the SHL, Physt did his life well and it earned the Toronto North Stars their first playoff bid since S37. Unfortunately it ended in round 1. Nearing 1000 TPE however should allow Physt to make his mark and knock the lights outta history.

Task 1 (3 TPE)

With the West Kendall Platoon, it would seem that the biggest thing that they did, was not doing anything at all and leaving a championship team mostly untouched. I mean, why would you change what caused you to win one of the Cups ending one of the longest droughts in the leagues history. With Biscuit in net, and the cast in front of him, he has now placed himself firmly in position to be the first goalie, and only the second team since Season 30 to win back to back championships.

Task 3 (3 TPE)
The highlight of the season, was easily making the playoffs on the final day of the season, with the Raiders winning and us behind in the standings, we needed two wins and thankfully, we were able to attain them and get into the playoffs, and while we were ousted unceremoniously and quickly, it was a great feeling, given that we had been on the fence for the latter half of the season and managed to squeak in by the skin of our teeth. Having scored the third most points on the team, only being overcome by Xena and her four goal effort in the next to last game for second place, I'd like to believe that I was integral in keeping us in the playoff hunt right up until the end, and thankfully saw the supporting cast step up and dominate when I was in a bit of a slump towards the end.

Task 6 (3 TPE)

When it comes to the Anchorage Armada, I believe the biggest change I would make personally is having some more physicality on the lines. It is something not often used by many GMs, but having a line with some focus and a pairing with its main focus on checking and causing issues for the puck carriers is what I would have changed. I dont know how much difference it would have made, however in my experience as a GM, as well as a coach doing lines, I found that this helped tremendously with teams that had a defense oriented bottom pairing, or bottom six. With the players on the 3rd line having improved over the season, this was not the case, as it normally is players who have low upside skill wise, so perhaps this would have been a waste of their talents to have them hitting more than they should.

Task 8 (1 TPE)
Part 3:
I believe Biscuit has the advantahe, having just been to the finals, and knowing full well the amount of effort and discipline required to make the big save in the big game. As the experienced veteran and likely with a taste for more glory, I think Biscuit just edges his counterpart.

TASK 1: (Written, 3 TPE)

Not quite a fan of either team, but I do like the core the Winnipeg Jets have brought together over the past seasons. Their forward depth has to be one of the best in the league, having multiple players with 1+ goals. They have done a solid job bringing along Lil' Manius who is contributing in the odd minutes he gets an opportunity to skate onto the ice. Zhumbayev is one of the top goaltenders in the league, and their back up goaltender in Klavins performed admirable well in their 6 game stint. Jason Visser likely will go down as one of the greats, and his development of an all around physical game have definitely contributed to the Jets chances. This may be the first championship they get since acquiring Volkova, who has done ell in the playoffs, as the team as a whole looks to break the curse. Can they lay WKP? Their well balanced line up indicates they have all the tools required. This is the last season for Arrivabene who has decided it would be best to call it quits in the midst of their post-season run. I am certain the team will rally around Maurizio and send him off on a high note.

TASK 3: (Written, 3 TPE)

This was a rough season for Cameron Carter who seemed to be out of it this entire season, getting dropped down the line up due to lack of production or engagement in practice. He showed some flashes, like that one game he scored 2 goals and was named the first star in a win for the Rage. This made me realize that I cannot simply coast on my past experiences and prove I can be a contributing member in this league. There will be an entirely new Cameron coming up and he will be much better than this edition. I don't want to end up being some 4th line grinder, but this rough patch of a season was a wake up call. I have to show up in practice or suffer being a mediocre player for the remainder of my time here. I am BANKING on Carter II to succeed, or this may be the last I am ever heard of. Thankful for the team that have accepted my flaws and and blessed for being enlightened by the lessons this season provided.

TASK 6: (Written, 3 TPE)

The team I will look into is Toronto, who suffered a 4-3 series loss to the Minnesota Chiefs when they were considered the favorites. Oof. McFadden regressed from his regular season performance, but Toronto's lack of real offensive production remained. The x factor is clearly Carter Manning, and the Northstars dropped the ball on this. He had scored 5 points in 6 games before heading into the 7th game, where Toronto still did not give him the vote of confidence. He should have seen an uptick in playing time, preferably taking Vakarian's spot on the top line and PP, which also being sent out to be on the ice when the team NEEDS a goal. Would have liked to see them mix their 3rd line up, maybe push Vakarian down there and slot Eriksson up on the second line to give them a more balanced look. They missed the boat by not making these adjustments and paid for it with a first round exit.

This is a funny one since I have constantly offered to help the Jets out with their tactical woes, who have at times dominated the regular season and failed to pt together a run in the post-season. I do believe WKP has the managerial advantage in tactics given that they have been the ones winning cups recently and have come through some tight series. They know what changes to make when the game is on the line and I trust Bojo's knowledge of the sim. Now he just needs to rebrand WKP and we'll be all good.

3.  Between Beaujeaux Biscuit and Artom Zhumbayev which star goalie has the advantage over the other in this series?
It's time for Artom Zhumbayev to turn on the jets and prove his doubters wrong. All the pressure in the world is on Artom's shoulders to DELIVER. Jets, while having one of the best rosters in hockey, have not won in some time. Biscuit may be cruising and may not expect Zhumbayev to become an absolute wall and steal this series. It will cement his legacy as a great goaltender, certainly. I trust him to rise to the occasion.

4.  Choose 1 young player from each team (either on their roster or a prospect of theirs) who you believe will be there teams next great player and why?
Troy McClure has special written all over him, having won the MVP award in the SMJHL and being known as a great prospect overall. He is buried under a top blue line but will eventually be given the opportunity to succeed. He has been carefully working his way up and improving in play each season. He's got next. Battle of the young defenseman as for WKP I will go with my man Rex Kirkby ho has also been a great contributing member to this board and putting together a solid rookie campaign. Physical and skilled, what's not to love?

TASK 1
West Kendall has gotten to be a perennial playoff performer through a number of different avenues. While I won't go too far back as far as trades go, since a lot of us have been traded at some point in our career, some trades are worth mentioning. WKP traded a regressing but still good Mikko Linna for a younger, also good Dani Forsberg. This lead to success for both teams as Linna won the cup the year after the trade took place with the Dragons and Forsberg won the year after that. Linna has since retired from the league but Forsberg is still going strong, leading WKP in scoring for the past three or so seasons. Another underrated but important trade was the one that sent Florence Cljisters to WKP for John Langabeer. This was a similar younger but not a good for older but regressing hard type trade. Cljisters has been impressive and very clutch for WKP all season long, especially in the playoffs, so suffice to say that WKP is really happy particularly with those two trades on their current run.

TASK 2

TASK 3
I would have to say that other than the playoffs, the highlight of my season thusfar has been my four goal game against Buffalo in route to West Kendall absolutely destroying them 9-2. I'm a pass first player and have been pretty "light" on hat-tricks as far as my career is concerned so it's always a shock and a nice feeling when I can pot one. Never in a million years did I think I would finish with four goals, on top of four hits, in any game. I wont say that it doesn't feel just an ounce better because I scored it against Buffalo, one of my former teams, however I want to be clear that I have no ill-will towards them. That's just how the chips went down and Simon T blessed me on that beautiful day. I obviously owe a lot of the credit to my teammates in that one for putting me in a position to score that many goals on only 5 shots. Another interesting note is that it was what one would call a "natural hat-trick" in that I scored the first three goals of the game one after the other. One was a powerplay and two were at even strength. Would have been nice to have a SHG, PPG and a ESG but I really can't complain too much lol.

TASK 6

Edmonton were absolutely ass-blasting everyone this year in the regular season so there is obviously some room for improvement in their lines as they were ousted inauspiciously by the Jets in the playoffs this year. First thing I would have done would have been to bump up the playtime of their top line by 5%, taking away from their third line. Their third line is definitely their weak point and I can see that a few of the players on the third line have below-average endurance, making them less effective as the game goes on. They also have some big hitters on the team so I would have changed the overall strategy of the team to include more physical play, especially when they were ahead. I would have also bumped up their top D-pair to 50% playtime as their combo is one of the best in the league. Another thing I would have potentially done was to swap out Rockefeller and Cuddles because Teddy is a top player in this league and I think his build is just a bit better. If you're stacking time on the top line, might as well have all of your best players there.

Fletcher - Knouse - Cuddles +5% playtime
Cukurs - Smyth - Rockefeller
Scholz - Czerkawski - Thorstein -5% playtime

Tuck - Tanner +5% playtime
Kalju - McIntyre
Chiclets - Hansen -5% playtime

TASK 1: (Written, 3 TPE)
Choose one team in the series and talk about the steps they took to make the finals. Was it a free agent signing, or an MVP player, or trades, etc. Must be 150 words.

Basically neither team in the finals made many offseason moves having quite solid teams from the year before. I think what propelled West Kendall to the finals was riding Dani Forsberg hard this season. Forsberg played twenty five and a half minutes each game, a huge number for a forward. He responded with an MVP type season where he scored 53 points. He was also an agitator on the ice with 44 penalty minutes and 234 hits. Most nights he was the best player on the ice and West Kendall took full advantage of this to get to the finals. They also rode Alex Light who played a whopping 26 minutes a game as a forward and he responded with 49 points. So it appears West kendall's strategy was to let their best players carry the team and it certainly worked as they find themselves in the finals once again this season.

TASK 3: (Written, 3 TPE)
In 150 words or more write about the top highlight of your season. whether it be your first goal, your first hat trick, first shutout, clinching playoffs, getting a career high in something, etc. Must be hockey related.

I would have to say the highlight of Kata Vilde's season would have been getting a win in his first ever SHL game against arch rival Winnipeg. That was a pretty tough assignment for a rookie goaltender, playing his first game against a pretty stacked team like the Jets. It felt good the Dragons had the confidence in me to throw me out there to the wolves so to speak. Vilde made 26 saves on 28 shots, only letting in 2 to Jets stars Jason Visser and Corey Bearrs. Also Vilde did not allow any goals on special teams as Winnipeg went 0 for 2 on the powerplay. Vilde had an up and down rookie season, ending the season with a pretty bad losing streak that ended up carrying over into the finals. The season's numbers were OK for a rookie but it's tough to beat the thrill of the opening night victory against a top team iin his first ever SHL game.

Question: Before the start of the game little tammy threw 4 reese's peanut butter cups on the ice. 2 of them were skated over and crushed! (Ohhh No!!!)... how many peanut butter cups were NOT skated over?

TASK 6: (Written, 3 TPE)
In an effort to improve the product, the league has asked an outside source to look over the playoff lineups and determine which teams could have performed better.. Come up with a new set of lines for one of the teams eliminated in the playoffs, and explain why you made the choices you did. Must be at least 150 words.

The Calgary Dragons were eliminated in the first round pretty handily by the Winnipeg Jets. They went 3-7 in the last 10 games of the season and it was for one particular reason. Goaltender Kata Vilde folded up like a cheap seat. he went 2-6 in his last 8 games including a critical 5 game losing streak. This is definitely not the way you want to be going into the playoffs, with a seriously cold goaltender. Calgary should have played veteran netminder Richard C Hocolate in their playoff series. Hocolate is a cup winning veteran who continued to train throughout the season even though he yielded most of the starts to the rookie goaltender. Calgary would have been better prepared with a veteran in net with a still solid build who had performed amazingly during his few starts in the regular season. That's quite simply the only change I would have made to the Calgaray lineup. Something needed to be done to swing momentum and i think the goaltender move would have made a big difference in the end result for the Dragons.

Task 8: (Written, 3 TPE)
Pick up to 3 topics below to write about! Each topic is worth '1' TPE. Each answer must be 50 words or more.

1. Between both rosters, create an all Challenge Cup starting lineup! (D, D, F, F, F, G) and in 50 words or more explain alittle about your selections.

For the best combined lineup I believe you have to go with a forward line of Dani Forsberg, Alex Light and Jason Visser. defense would be Max weber and Spitfire with Artom Zhumbayev in goal. Forsberg with the MVP seaosn, Light not far behind with 49 points and Visser leading his team with 47 points are pretty much no brainers. Weber had 42 points which is bar far the best of any defender on either team. Toss up between Spitfire and Ross for last defense but Spitfire's +20 wins that easily. I went with Artom even though Biscuit had slightly better numbers he had no shutouts to Artom's 2 leading me to believe artom could steal you a game.

2. Which GM in the finals do you believe has the tactical/Managerial advantage and why?

I believe JR95 holds the GM advantage here. For one thing he is the SMJHL simmer so he has quite a grasp of the sim and the advantage of seeing all the differing strategies that other managers try and what works and what doesn't. I think he also has an advantage in that he won the whole thing last season so he obviously knows the strategies his team needs to win the cup. Flappy did well and he got his team to the finals so this is no disrespect to him but I just feel being so intimate with Simon T and having a win under his belt that JR has the advantage here.

3. Between Beaujeaux Biscuit and Artom Zhumbayev which star goalie has the advantage over the other in this series?

Like I said above I feel Artom has the advantage in this series. Even though Beaujeaux had just slightly better numbers in the regular season he never pitched a shutout. That leads me to believe he relied on his teammates in front of him and there's nothing wrong with that at all. Artom had 2 shutouts during the regular season. In the playoffs you need your goaltender to be able to steal you a game or two and with the ability to shut out another team like artom has shown i think he could steal a game in the finals so that's why i think he has the advantage.

Task 1:

The Blizzard made a huge splash this previous off-season bringing in Oisin Fletcher and Piotr Czerkawski. These both players, as well as the continued development and success of the team, helped jump Edmonton to win the President’s cup this season. Oisin has been especially vocal in the locker room, being at every team meeting and at every practice, spending multiple hours after practice still on the ice fine tuning the skills that are needed to be a top player in this league. Tommy Tuck took some lessons from Oisin and has found himself also staying late after practice to take more shots and get better at everything he needs to do. This Team is poised to continue the push, and even though they got knocked out in the second round, look to be an early favorite to win it all next season. Keep a close eye on Edmonton, because they are in it to win it.

(156 words)

Task 3:

This season was of huge importance to Tommy Tuck and his supposed “curse”. After being traded half way through the season to the Edmonton Blizzard last year, they were poised to make the playoffs. Instead, With Tommy in net, they decided to fuck up (I’d put 99% on Tommy), and not make the playoffs. This year was a completely different story. Tommy Tuck was a wonder between the pipes, as well as Aliester Cain, and they both helped lead the Edmonton Blizzard to the President’s Trophy this year. Hopefully they both continue to progress and fight the powers that be, and continue to show Edmonton that they are both starting caliber goalies for years to come, and make themselves better and better. Tommy especially, now that he has the playoff bug in his system, (first playoff ever in his career), expect to see more and more training and effort out of this young man.
