S44 Championship Week
#91

TASK 1: (Written, 3 TPE)
Choose one team in the series and talk about the steps they took to make the finals. Was it a free agent signing, or an MVP player, or trades, etc. Must be 150 words

After a disappointing showing in the finals last season, you knew Winnipeg would try to change things up in the offseason. The team is getting old and they maybe have one or two more seasons before considering a retool. They were missing a top 4 d-man and hit an homerun when they signed Spitfire in free agency. With now 4 d-dmen above 1000 TPE, they don't really have any weakness anymore and were able to once again be the Western conference champions.

But this time, I have a feeling West Kendall won't have it this easy. Zach Evans is pretty much their playoffs MVP being a PPG player on the 2nd line and removing some stress on Visser's shoulders. Finally, 2nd season GM Flappygiraffe is only getting better and better with the sims engine and will make sure his team won't get 4-0’d. He is a huge factor in Winnipeg sucess, let's not forget before he took the job that his predecessor missed the playoffs with pretty much the same squad.

TASK 3: (Written, 3 TPE)
In 150 words or more write about the top highlight of your season. whether it be your first goal, your first hat trick, first shutout, clinching playoffs, getting a career high in something, etc. Must be hockey related.

On an individual basis, Ti-Guy Emond didn’t have a great season. Sure his ice time was low but not reaching the 10 points mark is quite bad. He still got a ton of PIMs and hits like usual but for the first time in his SHL career he was able to get the shot blocks milestones collecting more than 70. Team wise, he was part of the d-squad that allowed the less goals in the regular season and he played a small role in helping Michael McFadden having the best season for a goalie since season 5.

What else… oh we made the playoffs for the first time since season 37. I was one of like 6 players Toronto drafted in season 39 and it's pretty much that core who made it possible. We were part of a lot of bad and frustrating seasons, young players giving up on the team. I don't know how to describe this but what a great feeling for getting through this rebuild and being able to enjoy post season.

Question: Before the start of the game little tammy threw 4 reese's peanut butter cups on the ice. 2 of them were skated over and crushed! (Ohhh No!!!)... how many peanut butter cups were NOT skated over?

TASK 6: (Written, 3 TPE)
In an effort to improve the product, the league has asked an outside source to look over the playoff lineups and determine which teams could have performed better.. Come up with a new set of lines for one of the teams eliminated in the playoffs, and explain why you made the choices you did. Must be at least 150 words

Since I'm not on the Toronto North Stars anymore I feel more open to say what is on my mind. Going into the series it was pretty obvious the only aspect Minnesota was better than us was their first line. They lack forward depth, they had no one above 900 TPE on D and their goalie is still young and nothing amazing. We kept our same regular season line when we should have adjust to our opponent. I get it we had success with those but playoffs are a different beast. I would have gone with some of our best defensive players to try to limit the deadly Nova-Wozy duo. It would then allow our best offensive weapons to match again their 2 other lines that are really weak on paper. I would also spread the talent on those 2 lines.

We went with :
Vakarian-York-Lundberg
Lokitonov-Christiensen-Manning
Bananerstrom-Church-Eriksson
Rhys-Bergen
Physt-Von Matt
Emond-Turska

Mine would look like this :
Manning-Church-Lundberg
Vakarian-York-Eriksson
Lokitonov-Christiensen-Bananerstrom
Physt-Emond
Von Matt-Rhys
Turska-Bergen

Task 8: (Written, 3 TPE)
Pick up to 3 topics below to write about! Each topic is worth '1' TPE. Each answer must be 50 words or more.

1. Between both rosters, create an all Challenge Cup starting lineup! (D, D, F, F, F, G) and in 50 words or more explain alittle about your selections.

Forberg-Visser-Evans//Koch-Schroder-Weber//Biscuit : I didn’t really look into chemistry when putting this line up, I pretty much went with the best talent. Biscuit proved he's clutch when it counts, winning gold in the last 2 IIHFL and of course the Challenge Cup. LKS and Weber are both #1 d-men that would shut down everything. Forsberg and Visser are by far the best 2 forwards on both squads and with his play in the current playoffs Zach deserves the 3rd spot.

2. Which GM in the finals do you believe has the tactical/Managerial advantage and why?

I love Flappygiraffe and he did an amazing job since taking over Winnipeg but I have to go with JR95. West Kendall was always underperforming when Bojo was at the head. Since the change, they've won 2 cups and going for a third one. And the roster didn’t change much since JR took over.

4. Choose 1 young player from each team (either on their roster or a prospect of theirs) who you believe will be there teams next great player and why?

Lil Manius WPG : With so many aging forwards on their roster, Manius will be an important piece for the team in 2-3 seasons. He's one of the top earner in his draft class and on his way to become a franchise player

Rex Kirkby WKP : They really don't have many great prospects besides Kirkby but don't get me wrong he's still a quality prospect. With their aging d-core, I wouldn’t be surprised if in 1 or 2 seasons he will play on the top d-pair with LKS.

TASK 1:
I don't think it was a surprise the Winnipeg jJets made the finals.  They've been an elite team for seasons but werent able to get the job done, this season was different for them as they acquired a superstar defenseman in Spitfire. He helped them overcome that hump as the team finally built up enough juice to make the finals with their all around dominance and the team they already had glued together never split all these season. In my eyes, the hardest thing to do for a GM after so many seasons of falling short is keeping the team together ( there's actually so many reasons teams split) and they managed to do that.. and it was worth it. They honestly have a wide open window and sticking together with one goal and adding another star defender made it easy for them, they definitely weren't a surprise and it was a matter of time.

TASK 3:
Obviously Novas top highlight this season is leading the SHL playoffs in points with his linemate Noro Wozy. He's the assist king and his performance in both the regular season and playoffs showed that. He had 19 assists and 27 points in only 14 playoff games and carried the Chiefs with Wozy to the playoffs and game 7 of the eastern conference finals. A cup would have been nice but it was a really good showing for him after claiming to the media that he's the best player in the league and something he could build off of. Nova has never won a trophy, coming close to a playoff MVP in season 39 by leading the playoffs in goals and points but got edged in the voting by his teammate, Sebastian Strange, who was tied with Nova in points. The S32 SMJHL playoff MVP really showed out this season, making his career alot more interesting than just consistently getting points.

Task 4:
PM'd Izzy

Task 6:
Offense -
Line 1 - Oliver König - Angelo Odjick - Dick Skillstedt
Line 2 - Robert Phelps - Zanarkand Abes - Nour Harrak
Line 3 - Vijanupatan Singh - John Langabeer -Eriks Skalbergs
Line 4 - Robert Phelps - Angelo Odjick - Dick Skillstedt
Defense -
Line 1 - Ronnie Westbrook - Finn Krüger
Line 2 - Sami Owens - Ben Dover
Line 3 - Jakub Trocheck - Dwayne Wyder
Line 4 - Ben Dover - Finn Krüger

These are the lines the Hamilton Steelhawks should have rolled with, honestly. Konig should have been the 1c because of his ability to play the shutdown role and defense at a high level. He is also an elite passer.. it made no sense to me as to why the steelhawks had 3 shoot first guys on the first line.. it made them so 1 dimensional. John Langabeer makes a great 2nd liner and even a good first liner on bad teams but with the depth hawks had it made no sense to put him in over Abes on the 2nd. As good as Singh is he'd have to take over the 3rd line C role and play alot of special teams to even his minutes out. On defense I'd keep things the same, but swap Owens with Westbrook. It would open up Krugers game and physicality while making the 2nd D line even stronger.  I think the hawks misused their talent and these lines would have made the hawks 10x more effective in the playoffs
IMO. Every player fits their role perfectly and some teams would die to have this talent.  It's sad to see  them fall out with the talent they had.

Task 8:
2. Both teams had an advantage but I think the jets had the upper hand in managerial advantage because of their lack of success in the playoffs despite being a top team every season. They figured out what they were doing wrong through experience and that's very scary if you think about it.
3. This is a difficult one because both goalies are seasoned pretty well and very close skill wise. However, i would have to go with Biscuit because of his hand speed, rebound control and style control being maxed out.. I think those skills being maxed is necessary and Jets goalie isn't their yet in those.
4. For the platoon I think it's Dionyz Vyskoc. He's already breaking out and has tasted success with the platoon. I would be surprised to see him be the next big player for seasons on the platoon. For the jets it got to be gary grease.. another young star that has tasted success and even plays a leadership role. Both players have thrived and would not be surprising to see them become the face of the SHL as they mature.

West Kendall Florida or Winnipeg Canada? That's an easy choice. I grew up in the cold and frankly I'm tired of it. I'm going to West Kendall. With it only being 35 minutes from the beach I'll be able to catch some beach time before attending the finals game. Maybe walk the beach at night after the game as well.

16/16 total

task 1 complete - 3tpe
When looking at the West Kendall Platoon’s journey to the cup finals, it is important to remember that they were already a very successful team and one of the favorites to, at the very least, go deep this post-season. That being said, they did manage to add some in Cameron Dubois, which was a boost, but their real success came from the MVP caliber season of PGF graduate, hall of famer, and all-around legend, Dani Forsberg. There is not really a specific aspect to Forsberg’s game that shines much brighter than the rest, as is the case with many of the league’s best players, he is a true all-around GOAT. Guy is a beast, and it showed this season. We can talk about how the league really doesn’t see too many singular skill stars, but let’s keep the focus on the Platoon’s bad-est boy, Dani Forsberg and his all-star skills. All-in-all Dani scores, assists, hits, leads, and his play is one of the biggest (among many) reasons why we see WKP having the sustained success that they have seen of late.

Task 2 - 3 tpe

Task 3 complete - 3 tpe
Eero Niemi’s moment of the season had to be the last 10 games of the regular season where he was able to notch 7 goals and 8 assists for 15 points. Those 15 points in 10 games were one of the key reasons why Anchorage, who had been struggling all year to stay in the playoff hunt were able to secure the final playoff spot with 52 points over Halifax’s 51. Going 5-2-3 over the span of the final 10 games was key as Halifax had only managed 5-4-1, missing playoffs directly because of the extra OTL points the Armada were able to get after Eero pushed games into overtime with his stellar performances. Of course, Anchorage got quickly dismissed from the playoffs, losing to Vancouver in the first round, but it was a key post season appearance for the team who have been on the outside looking in for the past little while.

3. Between Beaujeaux Biscuit and Artom Zhumbayev which star goalie has the advantage over the other in this series?

There is only one answer possible here and that is that Artom Zhumbayev is the best damn goalie in the history of the SHL and it’s not even close. Guy is a legend from head to toe, “Biscuit boy” doesn’t even come close. ARTOM THE TANK ZHUMBAYEV is an alumnus of the best junior team in the history of junior teams, the Prince George Firebirds. They were so legendary they had to go out of existence TWICE because it just wasn’t fair for the league. You want to know why they had to do it twice? Well the second time it was because Zhumbabway was just so damn good nothing else could compare after.

Task 1
NSFL PT Share (plz and 10q)

Task 3

For Marmeladov not a lot of good things happened to him this season. After a strong season last year, the young goaltender looked off immediately in the start of the season. Ending the season with a .903 save percentage and 2.87 goals against average, it was pretty average and disappointing to many to see Marmeladov regress as much as he did. While not a lot of things went right, one thing that did is what he is most thankful for. Not having the best save percentage did not mean he did not rack up those W’s, and having 26 wins put him 3rd in the league. “I know it wasn’t all me and my teammates had a lot to do with us getting those wins”. It was a team effort and it was the major reason why they got into the playoffs. “I only wish I had been more effective in the playoffs as those guys deserved more than what happened to us in the first round.”

Task 4
Complete

Task 6

Toronto North Stars had a pretty good season and were able to make a nice run in the playoffs but could they have had more of an effect if they mixed up their lines? Looking at their playoff lines you notice that their fourth line became a mix of the top three lines. While this is common for some teams to do because it recycles the talent that you have it really cuts down the depth of your team. North Stars might have had fresher legs in the playoffs if they filled out their fourth line with some free agents or some of their young prospects that are still playing in juniors. Or even a mix of the players that they recycled and some of free agent and prospects. Instead they made 3 of their forwards play extra minutes and killing their stamina. This really shows the importance of depth can do for a team and how effective it can be to help win a Cup.

Task 8

1)For the All Challenge Cup Line-up I would have to go with the best of the best. These guys are talented and have all superstar skill set to be able to win in tough situations. On the Wings I would pick Dani Forsberg and Trevor Wilson. Both have extremely good chemistry and have played for a long time. In the middle Jason Visser would be able to keep up with his 2 way ability. On Defense I would pick the two studs of Jon Ross and Max Weber, the two main guys for each team. The goalie situation is a tough one. But in the end just looking at this season Artom Zhumbayev would be my pick.
3) Speaking of goaltenders, like I just stated Artom Zhumbayev would be the guy I would pick to have the advantage. He has had an incredible career and another great season. He knows how to play of his defense and his stats speak for themselves. His ability to make those cross crease saves and to not give up weak rebounds makes him extremely tough to get the puck past him.
4) I think the next big player I think that will develop into a superstar is going to be Rex Kirkby. He really showed a lot of his ability in the playoffs putting up 1 goal and 6 assists. His poise and ability to stay calm in the toughest pressure shows that he belongs in the big leagues and that he close to breaking out. I would definitely watch him over the next few seasons as he develops into a stud.

In 150 words or more write about the top highlight of your season. whether it be your first goal, your first hat trick, first shutout, clinching playoffs, getting a career high in something, etc. Must be hockey related.

The highlight of Maui's rookie season in the SHL was scoring his first goal in only his fourth game. The goal came against the Buffalo Stampede and sparking a 5 goal rally that ultimately won the game for Manhattan. Buffalo got out to an early two goal lead on goals by TJ Bayley and Alexis Metzler. However, only 3 minutes after Metzler's goal, the Rage came storming back and Yannick Berger found Maui at the point and he blasted one past Stampede netminder Kyle Davis to cut Buffalo's lead. Maui only ended up potting one more goal all season but he will definitely remember his first.

Calgary Dragons
Forwards
Line 1: C - Mike Izzy  LW - Shooter McGavin  RW - Roman Augustus
Izzy continues to center the top line for the Dragons with Augustus on the right side, however, McGavin joins them on the left. Izzy is a clear playmaker and swapping in McGavin gives him another scoring option to find on the wing.

Line 2: C - Joe Kurczewski  LW - Mikko Linna  RW - Hunter Jones
Mikko Linna drops down to the second line to be the main pivot for prominent scorer Kurczewski and hard hitting winger Jones. Linna was playing with Izzy before which meant there was two playmakers on the same line, by moving Linna to the second the playmakers are now playing with more scoring talent.

Line 3: C - Alex Mack  LW - Brennan Kennedy  RW - Esa Anrikkanen
This third line puts three all-around players together to give the Dragons a solid energy line option.

Line 4: C - Mike Izzy  LW - Joe Kurczewski  RW - Roman Augustus
The fourth line is a high flying scoring line that the Dragons can utilize when an offensive push is greatly needed.

Defense
Line 1: Adam Kaiser + Casey Creller
Line 2: Ostap Maksimov + Fedor Shirobokov
Line 3: Otis B. Driftwood + Chuck Goody Jr.
Line 4: Otis B. Driftwood + Fedor Shirobokov

All of these defensive pairings are an attempt to put together an offensive defenseman and a defensive defenseman. By pairing up the defensemen with a player opposite to their abilities, if ideally will even out the play of both. The fourth pairing puts the two most defensive players together as an option for last minute shutdown situations.

Task 8: (Written, 3 TPE)

5.  You want to buy tickets, hotel stay and airfair for one of the games in this series and you have to decide between a trip to West Kendall or Winnipeg.. what city did you choose and why?

1.
Forwards: Jason Visser Jets  Dani Forsberg Platoon  Trevor Wilson Platoon
Defense: Max Weber Jets  Jon Ross Platoon
Goalie: Artom Zhumbayev Jets

The easiest selection for this team was Zhumbayev. Although Biscuit had a solid run through the playoffs, Zhumbayev put up better stats and ultimately won the cup. Forsberg was the leading scorer between both teams and thus was an easy pick as well. Wilson gets the nod due to his ability to put up 20 points while playing 75 minutes less than Forsberg and Alex Light. The defensemen selected were both the best defensemen for their respective teams.

4.
Rex Kirkby Platoon
Kirkby is coming off his rookie season in the SHL. Rex finished the regular season with 18 points and added another 7 in the playoffs. Kirkby has had a solid beginning to his career with the limited ice time that he received during his first season.

Troy McClure III Jets
McClure is coming off his sophomore year in the SHL and is beginning to find his stride. He was apart of the Colorado Raptor defensive core a couple seasons ago with Maui and has continued to develop into a strong defensive player. He may not net a lot of points but will always be a strong player in his own end.

5.
After careful consideration, Maui has decided to make the trip to Winnipeg. It may sound crazy to pass up the sun, however, Maui is used to that. He is excited to get a chance to see the snow and experience a Canadian winter. Maui has also heard that he may get to see a polar bear so there is also that excitement.

(This post was last modified: 12-17-2018, 07:28 PM by Steelhead77.)

TASK 1:

The key move for Winnipeg this season was the call up of prospect Lil' Manius. He ended up being a rookie champion, which is very rare and usually only happens with Calgary players. Anyway, Lil' Manius provided mediocre play all season and by doing this the other players on Winnipeg realized they had to step up, this motivated them to play at their highest level, especially in the post-season. Also when they saw Lil' Manius changing in the locker room the other players felt like real men and gained even more confidence in themselves. Lil' Manius's impact was felt in many ways, he was a motivating factor for all the Jets players this season and a key reason they won the cup. Without the call up of Lil' Manius we're not sure the cup goes to Winnipeg in S44. All kidding aside, he played some solid hockey for them and chipped in when needed, was not a liability out there and I'm happy for him.

TASK 3:

Wow I get to write about myself, cool. I've had a lot of great highlights in my 92yr career, but this season something really special happened that has never happened before in league history. Two players passed 1,000 points in their career. Myself and Kristian Eriksson. We did this 1 day apart, he made it there 1st and we made history on back to back days. It's pretty amazing to score 1,000 points in a career, I'm humbled and honored. Being the 1st player to 400 goals was cool, being the first player to earn 2,000 tpe was cool, being the 1st GM to win 5 cups was awesome and being one of only two players to eclipse 1,000 points is pretty great too. I've been fortunate to have a lot of success and as my career winds down it's nice to look back at these historic milestones. With any luck I'll break 500 goals this season, but I probably just jinxed myself and will finish with 499.

Task 4: Sent

TASK 6:

Hmm.... what could I have done differently that take even more shots than my opponent and still lose... Had some other line options in mind..

Mike Izzy-Hunter Jones-Joe Kurczewski
Roman Augustus-Mikko Linna-Esa Anrikkanen
Alex Mack-Brennan Kennedy-Shooter McGavin
Mike Izzy-Joe Kurczewski-Shooter McGavin

Loaded up line 1 to try and get Joe going, move Augustus to line 2 center since he's basically another #1 center on any other team, move Esa up since he has higher scoring than Shooter and then move Shooter back with Mack and Kennedy where was hot early season, then of course 1 player from the top 3 lines on line 4 so the percentages work out.

Adam Kaiser-Casey Creller
Ostap Maksimov-Otis Driftwood
Fedor Shirobokov-Chuck Goody Jr
Fedor Shirobokov-Adam Kaiser

Ran this in pre-season and it killed, I'd be moving Shirobokov to line 3/4, spreading out our highest skating defenseman, still having 99 D on each pair, little stronger overall depth sometimes works out well and insulates your weaker line 3 D player in Goody, who's still pretty decent actually.

Task 8:

2.  Which GM in the finals do you believe has the tactical/Managerial advantage and why?

I believe JR95 an Wongy have a tactical advantage because they have been there before and won on the biggest stage. Winning 2 of the last 3 cups coming into this season's final, you would have to give them the edge. That being said, Flappy inherited a very good team, has made some smart moves and is pulling the right strings so anything can happen.

3.  Between Beaujeaux Biscuit and Artom Zhumbayev which star goalie has the advantage over the other in this series?

Again I would say Biscuit since he has been there before and knows how to win the big game. That is not a slight against Zhumbayev at all, he's a great player, but you always have to give the advantage to a goalie who's already won 2 cups. Experience matters but it's sths so anything can happen also.

5.  You want to buy tickets, hotel stay and airfair for one of the games in this series and you have to decide between a trip to West Kendall or Winnipeg.. what city did you choose and why?

I would choose Winnipeg because my co-gm @c00kies lives there and I could stay with him and leave an upper decker in his bathroom. It would probably take him weeks to figure it out and by then I'd be long gone. Also it'd be fun to hang out and go to a game in Canada with a good buddy.

TASK 1: (Written, 3 TPE)
Choose one team in the series and talk about the steps they took to make the finals. Was it a free agent signing, or an MVP player, or trades, etc. Must be 150 words.

The Winnipeg Jets are a strong team and deserve to be in the Finals. They had a strong season, finishing with 64 points, and also being 2nd in GF and 4th in GA, but that still forced them into being a road team as the 3rd seed in the West. Jason Visser was a huge difference maker and arguably MVP of the league. He had 19 goals and led the team with 47 points in the regular season, but also had a big 151 hits. Where he stood out most was his 6GWG and 4 GTG, as well as his 56.72% faceoff success. Visser was key in the Jets making it to the playoffs, but also stood out in the playoffs. He led all centers with 17 points (8-9-17), was a hitting machine with 54, and was heavily leaned on to play big minutes with 422 minutes played. His play was a huge reason for the success of the Jets, and is the key reason they are in the Finals.

In 150 words or more write about the top highlight of your season. whether it be your first goal, your first hat trick, first shutout, clinching playoffs, getting a career high in something, etc. Must be hockey related.

McGavin had a big year after only getting 18 points last year, as he scored 14 goals and had 29 points, and defensively improved, shooting up from -11 to +5 rating. Shooter's all-around improvement was good, but what really stood out was how clutch he was this season, scoring 6 GWG, which was good for 3rd in the league. This season bodes well for McGavin moving forward, as he finally looked like the threat he was supposed to be and was a huge part in the Dragons making the playoffs as the 4th seed in the West. "It always feels good to win" said McGavin, "but it is that much better when you feel like you are contributing and instead of being a passenger, you are driving the bus, or you are pushing the stalled bus with all your other teammates. It's a great time for me and I feel like I can become a top player for the Dragons very soon."

In an effort to improve the product, the league has asked an outside source to look over the playoff lineups and determine which teams could have performed better.. Come up with a new set of lines for one of the teams eliminated in the playoffs, and explain why you made the choices you did. Must be at least 150 words.

The Dragons outshot and outplayed the Blizzard in many of the games, but were still sent home early with only one playoff win in the five game series. Here are some adjustments I would have made (* around changes):

Center-Left Wing-Right Wing -- Time % -- Phy -- Def -- Off
1. Mike Izzy-*Shooter McGavin*-Roman Augustus-- 40% -- 0 -- 0 -- 5
2. Joe Kurczewski-Hunter Jones-Esa Anrikkanen -- 35% -- 0 -- 1 -- 4
3. Alex Mack-Brennan Kennedy-*Mikko Linna*-- 15% -- 0 -- 2 -- 3
4. Mike Izzy-Joe Kurczewski-*Mikko Linna* -- 10%-- 0 -- 0 – 5

Starting: *Richard C Hocolate*
Backup: *Kata Vilde*

I feel shooter would have done well on the top line with Izzy, as they had chemistry going on when they played together throughout the season. Shooter also had a more efficient shooting percentage (~10%) in the season than Linna (~7%), so the bad puck luck might have been fixed. This also leads to a trickle down effect, where Mikko can run the 3rd line, which she is more able to do than Shooter at the current stage of their careers. Mikko would still play with Izzy, but at a reduced time with Joe, as an alternative 1st line. Another change I might have made is to change goaltenders. Both goalies had solid seasons, but Hocolate had stellar #s in his 17 games, getting 11 wins, 3 shutouts, a .925 save %, and a GAA of just 2.15. The big thing that stands out is the shutout rate, as he had 3 shutouts in much fewer games than Vilde (only one), and the Dragons could have used a shutout or two to get them wins. These chages might not have been enough, as the Dragons seemed snake bitten, but it would have been interesting to see.

Pick up to 3 topics below to write about! Each topic is worth '1' TPE. Each answer must be 50 words or more.

1. Between both rosters, create an all Challenge Cup starting lineup! (D, D, F, F, F, G) and in 50 words or more explain alittle about your selections.
C- Jason Visser (WPG)- does it all; hits (151), scores (19), sets up plays (28 assists), and scores clutch goals (6 GWG and 4 GTG)
W- Dani Forsberg (WKP)- easy pick for his offense (22 goals, 53 points, 5GWG), but his forechecking and hitting is elite (234 hits)
W- Corey Bearss (WPG)- Picked him for his name, but he also scores goals (19) and has increased his play in the playoffs (16 points in 18 games)
D- Max Weber (WPG)- He's been there and done that, but he is one of the best d-men in the league and is effective on both sides (14G- 42P and 72SB)
D- Ludwig Koch Schroder (WKP)- He's a decent producer (30 points), but a goalie's best friend with his 85 shot blocks, while he shuts down the opposing team's best forwards.
G- Artom Zhumbayev (WPG)- It was a close call, but I give him the edge due to his better success on penalty shots (73>56%) and his 2 shutouts are better than 0.

3. Between Beaujeaux Biscuit and Artom Zhumbayev which star goalie has the advantage over the other in this series?
As talked about in question 1, I give Artom the slight edge. Both goalies had similar stats for wins, save percentage, and GAA, so I had to dig deeper. Artom has the edge in shutouts (2>0), and shutout are instant wins. The other advantage was penalty shot success, as I will take the goalie who can make the big save at the key time, and a save on a penalty shot is huge. Artom has also stepped up in the playoffs with a .915 save percentage, which is even better than his regular season (.910), while Biscuit has actually gone down to .901 (from .910). Artom seems more ready for the pressure of the Finals, so I give him the nod.

5. You want to buy tickets, hotel stay and airfair for one of the games in this series and you have to decide between a trip to West Kendall or Winnipeg.. what city did you choose and why?
- I would choose Winnipeg and stay at the famous Fort Garry hotel, as it is rumoured to be haunted and it would be a fun experience to go ghost hunting. I could also go to the Museum of Human Rights, go for a fun walk downtown (will I get stabbed? It's all part of the fun) and go bar hopping and drown my sorrows as Calgary has been eliminated.

My career achievement for this season? Well seeing how LKS hasn't really been shattering the world with outstanding stat lines, or even really mentioned in many peoples "Current great d men" in the league, the main accomplishment is surviving another season. With my draft class down to just 10 active members now, it feels like a goal is met with each passing season as I live to fight another season. Regression is taking it's toll though as I am getting real close into eating some skills Id rather keep than give up, but that is the nature of the beast. Next season marks the first time I enter with no real bank saved and no more useless secondary stats to pull from. With this in mind, my window for my players goal is closing and at the current rate of production I am getting scared on whether I will reach that goal or not. This season I should hopefully pass the 500 points mark, but this one at least brought me closer to all my goals across the board on a whole.

Defense - Toronto Stars

Wel I mean you have to try and lean on your strengths to get things done, but this was a bit much for my tastes. From what I have seen in STHS is stacking a line with high minutes doesn't normally work and you are better served to run them out of a 2nd round on the 4th pairing.

Zander Rhys Bob Bergen 40 0 4 1
Richard Physt Jordan Von Matt 35 0 4 1
Ti-Guy Emond Ben Turska 18 1 3 1
Bob Bergen Zander Rhys 10 0 3 2

Some small changes here, but I feel like they could have helped them over the 1st round hurdle. From personal experience, setting your top pairing to some more offensively inclinded minutes on the 4th pairing will yield some better overall results and could have helped them balance their line up more overall. If only they could get out of the 1st round lately. Yikes.

2.  Which GM in the finals do you believe has the tactical/Managerial advantage and why?

2) Tactical? My Boy JR95. (I am aware the finals are already over haha). Despite the Jets having a deeper team overall, JR has proven time and time again since taking over the Platoon that he knows how to get things to work with the team. Sure they may not be shattering records for scoring or standings placement, but what does it matter when you make the finals this often?

5) Winnipeg for myself personally. I always hear great things about the PEG, and would love to see it for myself. I have already been to flordida as a kid multiple times and have never been to the middle of my home country to see the flat lands for myself, so I would love the chance to see this hockey crazed market for myself.
