Weretarantula’s TPE ranks returns for the SMJHL picks

(Double media week eligible, 5022 word count and research)

This was well received last time so let’s give it another go! Updates have gone in today and that means it’s the perfect time to be ranking ALL prospects drafted in S45.
As per usual I’m ignoring free agents, it’s nothing personal I’m just not mining that data for this article.

Let’s start with the list before we get into the team breakdown shall we?! I’ve removed passes and forfeits to make it more concise for you all to peruse. The main issue with some of this is there are a lot of inactive people in this draft, and there is a lot of players who do not have update threads. Because of this, the global average is probably lower than it should be, but stats are brutal and there’s nothing you can do about it.

So total sum of TPE is 20925 made up out of 116 players. This gives us a TPE average of 180.39.
Without further ado here is the latest TPE earned and the associated pick!

Let’s have a closer look at the top 10, as looking at every single player is going to take me an eternity.

First Overall: Borromini Cannellini – 219 TPE
Pick seven in the Draft leads the class by 2 TPE and Vancouver must be thrilled to get him this far down in the first round. Veteran @ArGarBarGar was a sure fire first round selection and clear high end earner (wouldn’t you expect someone with 16,583 posts on the site to do well?). This guy isn’t gonna drop off any time soon and undoubtedly deserves the number 1 spot on this list.

Second Overall: Michael Scarn – 217 TPE
First gen player and everyone’s favourite boss, @Trautner has been earning TPE regularly over the last 3 weeks and established himself in a huge draft class with veteran players. 14th overall is an impressive achievement in this draft class, and a great selection by Colorado. Looking forward to seeing him keep up the great work!

Third Overall: Kalvins Zvejnieks – 213 TPE
Fourth overall selection by Detroit and a worthy spot indeed given the TPE earned, @Gobbles has been another great earning first genner and is a very similar case to our friend Michael up there. The Falcons would appear to have gotten a solid active here.

Tied Fourth Overall:
Karlstraße Scholz – 209 TPE
Kelowna did their scouting and knew that Edmonton GM @karlssens was a great pick. A little behind the first three but anything above 200 in this draft is exceptional.  No stranger to the system, a big name to come next year for sure.
Monkey D. Luffy – 209 TPE
Another fantastically active first genner and well above the average, Lethbridge clearly got a steal here at pick 28. Despite only joining the site 6 days ago, @TnlAstatine has already flown out of the gates and is earning huge amounts. Keeping it up is the next step we will all wait for eagerly.

Fifth Overall:  Nikolai Evans – 208 TPE
SHL veteran @ztevans was no surprise for being a candidate for first in the draft. Insanely active, well above the average TPE, and like almost everyone else mentioned he is close to top of the class in TPE. Montreal grabbed a stellar player to their locker room here.

Sixth Overall: Parker Smeb – 207 TPE
Where the hell did this guy come from? This particular Smeb was selected 65th overall in the draft, and yet here he is at 6th in the standings. On closer inspection you can find that it is site vet @O4L behind this guy, and it’s unsurprising that he is smashing out TPE. Fantastic late round steal that other GM’s might have been wary of due to recent absence.

Tied Seventh Overall:
Lunga Gumba – 205 TPE
Another Colorado pick, and another late round steal. At pick 57 we have the one, the only, @Pingy Pingu. Why was he left this late? He may have a slightly spotty history of being in the league… Time will tell if he proves the doubters wrong but he’s making a good effort so far and the Raptors don’t mind taking a risk every now and again.
Guy Zheng – 205 TPE
And just to prove to this article and the league that there was a huge mix of first genners keeping up with the vets in this draft, we have @goldenglutes. Another guy who only joined 6 days ago, Kelowna will be stoked with the current earnings of their new player. 25 TPE above the average is an awesome start. Just gotta keep it up now!

Tied Eighth Overall:
Olin O'Dowd – 204 TPE
@Sour_Chin_Music actually joined the site back in January, but has been inactive up until now. Which basically explains why he went so low at 41st. Why he chose to start now as opposed to then is a mystery, but being in the top 10 is a great start regardless. Montreal will be hoping he stays around this time for sure.
Basil Magnicotta – 204 TPE
As a recreate, @Rancidbudgie knows what he’s doing, and I doubt he will stop earning his TPE any time soon. It was interesting to see him get picked at 32nd, but regardless it’s a great pick later in the early draft rounds and St Louis will look forward to seeing their new defenceman grow.
Jakub Hasek – 204 TPE
Luckily for him this article has taken me all day and he finally created his update thread a little while ago. He was going to be in a different section stuck on 155 TPE, but has now shot up into the top 10. @"Jakub" you cheeky boy you. Detroit will love having this guy on their team.

Tied Ninth Overall:
Perry Morgan – 203 TPE
Despite his SHL page being a little barren, he’s doing awesome work for a new member and looks very active so far. No surprise Halifax were high on him at 17th, and @"owenm43" is keeping it up there in the top ten nicely.
Michael Fox – 203 TPE
A brand new player, being selected at 26th was pretty appropriate for him given his draft company. 16 TPE really isn’t that much behind the first overall pick, and the Scarecrows have picked up a great winger in @FuzzSHL.

Tied Tenth Overall:
Mike Hunt – 202 TPE
Ignoring the cliché god awful name, @"AtlasHunter" is another first gen and our first Anaheim member in the top 10! Which is surprising given the fact that he was actually selected 59th overall. An active goalie is always a must have and they will be stoked to have gotten this gem.
Knute Knurtsson – 202 TPE
Another 6 day member, and another Colorado top 10 selection. They had a damn good draft. @Ason94 just keep it up and you’ll be in this list again when I do it next time Wink
Kit Smeb – 202 TPE
And now for the Smeb that didn’t go to Colorado, we have @kit. Maybe I’m missing something, maybe he’s returning after a huge absence, but a player with 11k posts on the site should not be falling to pick number 40. Detroit came in like a thief in the night on this one. Fantastic selection.
Hans Zucker – 202 TPE
Last in the list but definitely not least in terms of earning we have Montreal’s second rounder, @iOBESE. A recreate who retired this season just gone, Hans was surely high on the list of a lot of GM’s. 22 TPE above average and ready to get more from everything we can see.

PHEW.
That was a ton of info, but I’m not done yet! There are some honourable mentions to be made before I move on to ranking the teams…

Anastasia O’Koivu – 155 TPE
The peculiar case of being selected 5th overall despite not having earned ANY TPE whatsoever? That’s because this particular player is a site veteran who’s well-loved and I’m sure many are glad to see back. I haven’t dealt personally with @Pris but I’ve only heard good things. Unfortunately she hasn’t been able to update due to not having a computer, so hopefully we see that change in the future!

Cant Eykhil – 196 TPE
At pick 97 we have returning site member @linsangeles and I’m certain almost everyone missed this pick. Almost in the top 10 and fell this low in the draft? Maybe people were frightened of inactivity but I think Lethbridge have an astounding pick here. Time will tell…

Steve Craig – 195 TPE
Similar to Cant, @Lem is a returning member from all the way back in 2011! Colorado selected him at 92 this round, and I’m certain they’ll be hoping he can add to their locker room and continue his tradition of making a fantastic rookie.

OK! Team ranking time!
In my previous articles I’ve given the teams a ranking overall based on how their picks have panned out. That won’t be possible this time due to the amount of players, the lack of time for development and the fact that this has definitely dragged on way too long now. I’ll list each team alphabetically first with their picks, and then give my rankings at the end.

Steve Yzerman Jr. – 160 TPE
 Hank O'Callahan – 159 TPE

So, final rankings are as follows!
Kelowna 195
Colorado 190.1
St Louis 186.2
Vancouver 184.5
Halifax 181
Montreal 179.9
Anchorage 179.3
Detroit 178.3
Lethbridge 176.6
Anaheim 175

Now I'm not going to break this down any further, but those rankings look close enough to me! I think Anaheim has gotten the short end of the stick here, but the averages get pretty close to the overall draft class total.
So well done to Kelowna, Colorado and St Louis for making the top three! Sorry to anyone I missed out or anyone who thought that they got shunted by the rundown, but I just can't keep typing tonight Tongue Let me know in the comments!

See you all next time!

@kit ah sorry, I only assumed what I found off people’s profiles if I didn’t have prior knowledge about them.

@Pingy Pingu that’s why I put the update cutoff at the start of the post. Everyone is inevitably gonna get better anyways, it’s just an angle of looking at the picks Tongue

@"luketd" <3 brother, appreciate the sentiments

You may have accidentally toggled something in your forum view settings? I don't see anything wrong
