I'm currently working on a project for a pretty big article (or series of articles) that i need your help with. The project is basically an all-time player builder ranking, or in other words: Which SHL member has had the best, highest quality group of players in his time in the SHL. It would be somewhat comparable to @ArGarBarGar 's Top-100 players of today ranking, but of course with some pretty significant differences. But before I can get to work on the nitty gritty and sort out the details of the ranking process and all that, the first big task ist to create a good solid list of eligible members and their players.
To do that, I have determined three different criteria, if a player fulfills just one of these criteria, then the member who built that player is eligible for this ranking. These criteria are: 1. Is the player in the HOF? 2. Is the player in the Top-50 of the All-Time Scoring List? 3. Does the player have a legacy score over 700? So anyone who hits just one of these marks is in. Obviously those marks aren't set in stone so if you have any feedback on them, just shoot them my way. This list possibly makes it a bit tougher for defensemen because one of the criteria is scoring based, so should we maybe add something extra like Top-X in defensemen scoring? Should we add an extra category to include more goalies? Or should we maybe drop the legacy threshold to like 500-600, which would instantly include a lot more people. As it stands however, this conveniently gives us a list of about 100 members so that's our starting point for now.
Here is a link to the drive document where I've compiled all the members (read only for now):
As you can see, the list isn't quite complete as it doesnt have all the data for all the players added. However, it should cover all the relevant criteria mentioned above (top-50 scoring etc) so that no member was missed. But here is where all of you come in as it is probably the biggest aspect that I need help with: We might have a list of about 100 members, but obviously those hundred-something players aren't all the players that these members have had. So now, in order for this ranking to be as valid as possible, we need all the others players, or at least as many as possible, that our legendary creators have had. The good ones that weren't quite great, the mediocre ones, the failed first-tries, the busts etc. These other players might not be enough to earn you a place on this list by themselves, but they will be factored in and give you points if you are already on it because you had an elite player. To distinguish the two groups of players, the ones who made someone "eligible" are bolded whereas the "others" are not. Keep in mind that a member can have multiple "eligible" players if more than one of their players fulfilled the criteria.
So this is how you can help out: Ideally, you are one of the members on the list! If so then congratulations, it would be awesome if you could list all the past players you have had here in this thread. I am planning to go and research this by myself to fill the gaps later on, but I figured that it would be easier to fill this up through the community to start with. So if you recognize some of these names on the list, if they are you friends, former teammates or just someone you remember, please post in here and add those players that are missing. Every little bit helps so if you can just add one of two names through a post then that's already awesome! If you like the project and would like to get even more involved then just let me know here or in Discord and I'll get in touch and give you access to the doc . There is a lot of other stuff in this doc that still needs some work of course so if you want to go check for missing or incorrect usernames, misaligned players or members that I have missed completely then feel free to post that in here as well.
I think that's all for now, if you have any further questions then just post them in here. And of course, thank you for your help
